50 here, he would avg more around 45-47ppg, 10-10 APG-RPG, easy. The 3-ball attempt was around 6-7 per game and then the highest was 10 per game in the 90s. players didn't care to shoot it back then. the objective was to get fouls and 1 was far more effective and still is. Now the league avg is 24+ on 3s, that's 4x the the avg in the 90s! If all these morons don't think the most prolific scorer the league has ever seen won't increase his FGA and 3FGA are delusional. he avg 23 per game on attempts for 2s shooting 50%, knowing him and how wide open the lane is now. He would be basically nearly double Luka Doncic's stats today and do it far better efficiency and more exhilarating.

depends on roster. contrary to popular belief, MJ wasn't just SCORE at the expense of the team. if he had a bum roster, he would prob average 45. if he was on a competent roster, prob about 38 but with more assists and steals since he could take more chances in passing lanes.

He already averaged like 37 that one year. It would only take two more buckets to average over 40. With his shooting percentage that would be like one more shot per quarter. Piece of cake. But to average 50 he would need to take 12 more shots per game maybe 13 more than he did the season he averaged 37. That's a lot of shots LOL.

Add to his 37 ppg at least 5 more travels to the free throw line which with his +80% is 8 more points, thats 45 ppg just with that. Now the what "if". If he is sorrounded with sharpshooters like the teams tend to form today, He would average 45 and 10+ assists per game, we know he average 10+ when his team mates prove him they were up for the task, so in todays NBA it would be easy for him to find the open man. Now, If he doesnt have people he can rely on, he would average 50+ no questions about it. Oh, and another thing Jordan has over every player still to this day, almost bottomless Stamina. You are giving that man around 2 extra minutes of rest sending him to the line and another 2 to 3 min on commercial brakes and another 5 min on reviews on plays. It aint a stretch, he would avg 45-47ppg, 10 more shot attempts from 23 is 33, wide open lane. Thats BBQ chicken all day. he shooting at least 50% plus. In 1993 Finals he shot 43 shot attempts, 44 points, on 44% shooting and that is considered subpar for him. Kobe shot that 44% his entire career! so its not out of the question him producing more. I say avg 45-47 when he is not taking it personal. If its personal he avg whatever he felt like he wanted to get. Remember he got 63 WITHNO 3S, tf Shannon talking about.

The 3-second rule in the defensive key did not exist in Jordan's era. So a center could stay longer in the key to wait for Jordan and attempt the block. So it was a lot harder to score near the net in those days. Illegal defense start in 2001-2002 season. Plus hand check

Michael ducks under Sam's arm pit and raised back up and pulled himself to the rim and dunked. It looked like gravity defying, going up then down, then back up and changing directions to the left to dunk.

i think a good answer would be another question: who in todays nba would average 37 in 1987s nba?? being said that michael jordan was always about winning not scoring scoring was just the tool he used to win when he had better teamates he scored a little less. so in todays nba he would adjust his game to win maybe hitting more 3s maybe more assists or maybe he would lose his edge just because the lack of competition i imagine a michael jordan winning 4 or 5 straight titles averaging 35 points 9 assists 7 rebounds 4 steals and 2 blocks and then retire at the same time if enviid can score 70 points i imagine michael jordan scoring 80 or 90 points in a killer mode game easy just remember he was scoring 30 when teams were scoring 100 do the math love your channel thnks

If MJ played today they would have to change back the rules a bit, it just wouldn't be fair. Just adjusting the numbers (without taking in mind the rules changes) back in the 90s the average per game was 95 points in todays game is 112 so since MJ has an average of 30.1 in todays game it would be 36 (39 if we only count the bulls days). That's just adjusting the numbers, if we factor how freely he could move and score you can easy add 10 more points per game so 46-50 per game would be his average.

Even though today's NBA players no longer engage in defense, as good as Jordan is, AVERAGING 50 is still a tough achievement. He would definitely hit 50 periodically in a regular season, maybe even a 60 here and there, so I think a 40-something-per-game average would be much more realistic. 😃

UMMMM, He did that in HIS era. Least the periodical 50 and 60 point games. Averaged 37.1 per game in a season. Just add in the extra FTs he would get today and 50 would be easy for him to average. IJS

@@jimbillybob46310 Well, you could be right; we'll never know. 😁 I still say getting up to 50 each and every night would be grueling, even for someone as skilled as Jordan. I'm 43, and while I think Jordan would be capable of averaging mid 40's a game, I don't honestly think he would, I think instead he would probably(assuming a similar career length) have multiple seasons like his 88-89 season where he was averaging damn near a triple double while still getting mid 30's a game, mostly because teams are loaded with better shooters today, so being willing to get the team involved would be a lot easier decision to make and I think Jordan's desire to win above all would lead to ~35/8/8 and 3 steals a game, with maybe a season or two at 40+....... Edit: That said, I wouldn't be shocked if he played under a modern coach if he had a couple of 80-90+ point games under his belt.

Scoring 30 points back in Jordan's era used to be a big deal with handchecking allowed and bigs clogging the lane that would knock you on your ass over and over. If you put prime Jordan in this era where the lane is wide open with no bigs anymore, nobody can put their hands or forearms against him to slow him down and you can palm and travel all over the place and not get called???!! He would average whatever he wanted but probably at least 45. He could get to the rim and score or get fouled pretty much every time he touches it.

The season MJ averaged 37, he only hit 12 3's ALL YEAR. It wasn't a major part of the game at the time. It was never really a major part of his game to be a 3pt shooter. I have no doubt a prime MJ would have developed a great 3pt shot if it had been a greater part of the overall game. He had an impeccable mid-range jumper that was money. MJ can average 40 or 45 points per game in today's NBA. But that wouldn't be his primary focus. He seriously would want to win every championship and MVP. He would instill fear in today's NBA players that they would tiptoe around him just like most of them did 30 years ago. The greatness of MJ is not only his physical game but also his mental game. Prime MJ intimidated almost everyone in the league. I expect the same if he plays in this era.

He'd adapt to the changes and exploit the rules, weaknesses of teams, players...this dude studied just as much film on opponents as much time he spent on perfecting his moves and shots. Doesn't matter if u have the killer instinct if u can't back it up with a killer work ethic. Jordan had that in spades. Oh and one more thing: you can't double him, he sniffs it out and goes to the weakside, away from the double, and creates his shot there. Or finds the open man under the basket, possibly for an alley-oop. He was that good, 2 moves ahead of everybody.

He averaged over 37 a game at the age of 23 without shooting 3s. He would certainly be over 40 a game if his goal was to score (rather than to win). As he became a better player, he took fewer shots, learned how to win and never again averaged 37, so it's quite clear to me that he was not trying to maximize the number of points he scored throughout his career. Would 50 be possible? I'm not sure, but it's hard to argue that he couldn't average 45. Even if he didn't shoot 3s, the floor is so open today (assuming you have a couple good 3 pt. shooters), he would have so many free layups that his eFG% would be far higher than it was during his era.

It's curious that this debate is a thing. We'll never know and even if we could find out it wouldn't make any difference. I'd like the rules to be stricter and enforced consistently. It's tiring with everybody and their mom breaking records twice a week.

He'd definitely be in the 40's! And if he was playing against someone who pissed him off, a lot more...

Objectively he would average 41-43

I am not here to debate Jordan. I was a Bulls fan in Indianapolis in the 90's,and hate Reggie Miller with a passion. BUT, with what he mentioned about todays rules, how many points would he be averaging and would he be a better shooter than Curry?

I would say in a prime year he's easily going for 43-45ppg and in off prime year maybe 35-37ppg.

"How you gonna get 40?" 10 points per quarter for four quarters. That's how. Shannon... I mean Jordan averaged 40-45 points in the playoffs five times. And over 37 ppg in the 80's eastern conference.

Thing with Jordan is that he would’ve score 50 WITHOUT the three pointer.

He averaged 37.1 in 87 when there was actual defense played, he could do 40-45 a game now

Pipen could’ve averaged 30 but the ball went through MJ. Today’s game there’s more than one scorer

Jordan could average 50 but I think it would be closer to 40.

Anyone else wonder if MJ gets on RU-vid and watches all these videos about him 20 years after he last played? I wonder if he likes it or is exhausted by it. The man still can't go out in public w/out getting mauled. That in itself has to be exhausting.

here's the thing, jordan was a physical player. Being physical doesn't help much in today's nba, because everything is a foul. And yeah, he'd be a better 3pt shooter now, but not a great 3pt shooter. I think he'd have averaged 35ppg for most of his career, instead just a couple years. I even think he could've had a 4 or 5 year stretch of maybe 40ish, but not 50.

His perimeter shots are accurate, so easy to get 50

There's a few ytube vids where players 80 and 90s are running/sprinintg up and down the court (Jordan leading the pack) like crazy for 10min straight....todays players...they "cruise up and down the court", Lazy and load managed...SOOOOOOO...MJ would easily score 40-50 a night.....and LBJ would be same as "karl malone" in any MJ era!!...no rings but great player!!

kids today just have no concept of basketball being played without Zone D, without Offensive or Defensive 3 second rules, Handchecks, Jordan Rules aka beat him up in paint, no flagrant fouls, and with no spacing. MJ didn't make his name making just 1 cut to the basket with everybody spread out like LeBronnie.

I wish we could just clone MJ or give him a new young body, transfer his consciousness. So the fans of today can see the artistry for themselves and the modern NBA can be schooled little bit on ethics and mentality.
