Uh. Mach 6 is pretty fast. And I think it can go mach 10. Most hypersonic missiles go about mach 6-7 so yeah. Sorry. Also targeting it in the first place is gonna be a problem bc ofbthe speed. For the love of christ if I get something wrong tell me that I did. But if someone "WeLl AcTUAlLy's" me imma go ballistic. The only reason I say this is bc I've been well actuallyed before. Its hella annoying. If you want to tell me I'm wrong, tell me I'm wrong say it professionally. Dont be a dick lol. Because I am NOT an expert on missiles and aircraft. Ok? Ok.
@NeroontheGoon

This has always been the problem with ground based interceptors and marginally stealth aircraft, latency. The SR-71 crews used to screw with the SA-2 sites by decelerating in a shallow dive then hogging the coals to it in a reciprocal climb, missiles just couldn’t adjust fast enough.

Two issues 1) We never saw how that ejection ended! Falling back to earth in your seat was cool - did the parachute open!? 2) All of the interceptors shot at you from side on, how about if one was dead ahead of you, would the missile still miss?

@@grimreapers Guess this means that in the real world, it's necessary to be at 100K + feet to help defeat head on shots- though being as far past Mach 6 as possible (which won't be too much admittedly for SR 72) likely helps mess up the missiles leading attempts as well

If it actually goes fast enough to generate plasma around it isn't that in its own way of stealth if radio waves can't come out of it radio waves can't get to it so it's basically absorbing radar
@BoraHorzaGobuchul
@BoraHorzaGobuchul 11 месяцев назад
Not sure if it absorbs them or reflects them, this is not high school physics so no idea. Google says it does all, i.e. absorb, refract, reflect, attenuate depending on various factors including wavelength; I suspect sheath thickness, shape, composition, angle relative to the radar all come into play as well.
@Utubesuperstar

I thought the USAF/DARPA were working on making ceramic RAM (material) coating over the last decadw or two, so ths SR72 either comes standard or optioned with RAM. It'd be interesting to see the RAM coating would make a difference when they have so little time to scramble anyways. Also super-Cap is a super dad! They did build the SR-72. It is on schedule and has already well been in testing. In 2015 (June 30th, you can use waybackmachine), Lockheed Martin had an official SR-72 page. On that page it says the SR-72 could be operational by 2030. According to a long deleted roadmap outlined that the aircraft would be tested this year and since Lockheed is bad at keeping secrets and low-key bragging any time they can, it performed well in tests this year meeting all marks.

It might be low observable versus OTH radar, but the problem is even if the plane was totally invisible the air turns to plasma from friction as the plane pushed through it. Others have already pointed this out but that plasma sheath is itself visible to IR and radar at any LOS distance. Now - I don’t know what the Chinese and Russians have …. the USN SM-3 can knock out missile sized targets up to around Mach 25 down with ease. It can also hit targets in LEO as well. I assume they have similar capabilities or would develop them if we built an “SR-72”

@@unknownuser069 I suggest you do a some research about Plasma Stealth and several other patents about Plasma Technology... I'd send it all however tbh i don't feel like it lol and your certainly capable of doing a bit of digging ;) I do see what your saying about a large IR signature tho, i believe The Plasma cloud that surrounds the aircraft and then the Plasma stream that flows over the actual airframe (several layers of Plasma) could confuse any potential lock not saying they wouldn't see it however getting a good solution and firing are different. I'd check out those patents tho, there's even one for a kind of Plasma intake engine that would collect the surrounding plasma and essentially use it to propel the aircraft and another that talks about completely Ionizing the atmosphere in front of the aircraft to such a degree that it annihilates it* allowing the aircraft to travel unencumbered by aerodynamics!! Lol to an extent I'm sure...

Maybe you should allow the "Sixth Generation" AI be the Weapon Officer and allow it to track and shoot and track-to-target multi targets at the same time. This has been possible way back to the F14 with wording as able to track "24 targets." Chances of Friendly Fire shootdown are also reduced when the Sixth Generation AI is used.

I think at this point I'm willing to say DCS intercept logic just doesn't work well with hypersonic targets. Also, after 1000s of hours of Kerbal Space Program I can say you'll glide 1000s of km with no engine with an aerodynamic shape in the upper atmosphere. Losing that aerodynamic slipperiness is also why you slow so much pulling high-alpha. A funny thing about the plasma around a hypersonic object is it actually *increases* detectability for modern radars (back in the 60s-70s it did make detection harder). The movie quote was from Event Horizon. 👍

Go ahead, try it on a US CSG with SM-3. We'll see what DCS does, but if it works at all correctly you'll see why we aren't flying "SR-72" Just remember SM-3 is designed for ASAT and BMD. Something that slow is a piece of cake.

The rest of the pilots are briefed just before the mission and h ave to stop the one that does know what is up. To simulate the training difference between nations or the preparations of a focused attacker vs the preparations of a defensive force that has to cover all options. Could be a pair of people in the F4 when it comes out vs Vietnam era planes and Sams or The f15e in a strike on something against a defensive force or a single person who's goal is to sweet the sky over an area for a ground attack and the others need to shoot him down.

Have the SR-72 picked up at 400+ miles and the CAP flights and fighters on the catapults have to burn hard to get into position to fire. You could do this with multiple gens of carriers groups, 70s F-4s, 80s F-14s, Russian ski jump MIG-27s, all the way to modern Ford carriers with F-35Cs and AIM-260s. Hey CAP, so I was just in with my team of Mil Bloggers working on the war in Ukraine and I had a thought or Idea, So in the last few day a couple Ka-52 Choppers were taken down by Man Pad Stinger Missiles. And to tell you the truth I was talking how sad it is that a weapon from the 60's-70's era could take down an advanced 2000's Chopper or anything Modern at that matter. Then I had a question pop in my head, can those Stingers actually work on a Stealth Aircraft. So I don't know if you have the answer or not but maybe you can use it as a idea for a video. And I will say you may see a Spike in your Subscribers! Because I am using your Platform and GS's to Teach these people how things work and operate, what things can or cannot be done, different weapons, and Aircraft. And all I have heard is amazing feed back from them. GS got almost 20K New Subscribers in about a week and he didn't know where from but I let him know. I also told him what you had told me in our Personal Chat about the subject of GR & GS... Also for your info everyone has had the best things to say about your group cause of the Scientific ways you do things, and they believe you have a more Realistic View than GS. But I just wanted to ask you that about the Stingers and let you know I have been Highly PROMOTING your Site! It is very educational for us that are in someway involved with the War going on. Personally I will be in that war around the End of Winter or Early Spring! I leave for Germany Friday and spend 2 months their, then to Poland for an additional 2-3 Months. But I will be staying in the loop as much as I possibly can. And am willing to give over any Legal Info I can! Thanks again all you guy's for the Team Work you guy's put in, cause you are the Best at it!!! "THAT IS ALL"

The question is, would Cap survive an ejection at mach 6? His scrawny body would need to slow down to terminal velocity, about 126 MPH assuming he survived the actual exit from the aircraft. I think he'd be more like a bug hitting a windscreen.
@Migog5
@Migog5 11 месяцев назад
Hifgh speed ejections are quite survivable very high because air is so thin it doesn't have that much force to pull one apart
@never2late_mtb349
@never2late_mtb349 11 месяцев назад
@@Migog5 In that case, he'll have plenty of time to enjoy the view before the canopy deploys 😂 That is of course assuming that he doesn't go into a massive spin and black out for the same reason that the ejection is survivable. Lack of friction due to air density, and of course the canopy has some kind of AOD that works on barometric pressure. Else he's gonna be up there a long time, and would probably freeze to death. Very high altitude ejections strike me as very dodgy things to do.
@grimreapers
@grimreapers 11 месяцев назад
Don't forget that real pilots have survived Mach 3.2 ejections from SR-71 due to the low air pressure up there.

I thought we decommissioned sr71 because we have satellites. I don’t think we would bother making an SR72 without it having the capability of dishing out some sort of pain on the enemy. Weaponized lasers? And what a platform to launch a hypersonic missile from. Giving an already extremely fast missile a launch at Mach 6+ and angels 70? It’s probably a pipe dream but this channel is just the place that could make that dream happen right?😅

Watch the documentary for the Soviets to get Gary powers they shot down between 3 to 7 of their own migs to get him and then I see another special on some modif the F100 that they used to enter into Eastern block countries and tried in Russia and they were totally amazed at how many radars hit them as soon as they crossed the Borders And they showed the picture of the F 100 that came back on the the last missions that they did and the back of it was shot the shit and the wrapping around the engine was burned off from a running on after burner's hard as he could But then it ended on a sad note for some stupid reason they sent AC130 across the Borders and they got shot down with like 12 people on board why would you send 130 into an area where A F 100 modified couldn't get by

Scott Manley has a video on this over at his RU-vid in detail. Ejection is tough because of air density, not speed. If you exited the ISS which is moving at more than dozens of Mach you won't feel anything.

This is the plane from the top gun movie lmao. The reason the SR71 was retired is the same reason there won't be an SR72; modern surface based SAMs can hit them and they provide less intel than existing ISR and ELINT platforms. The F35 does far more than this tentative fictional aircraft could ever do and the F35 is stealth and armed.
