The Morgan was from Ace Combat zero, in the final boss fight in zero the Morgan had the Tactical laser, multi purpose burst missiles and a strong ECM jammer there was also the Falken and Raven as well which were similar to the Morgan but also different in some ways.

believe it or not it comes as far back as ACE COMBAT 2 but only the ADF-01 not the ADFX-02

ADF-01 Morgan could have one of three specialty weapons (Multi-burst missile, laser, ECM jammer). ADF-02 Morgan (non-playable) had all three as well as improved angles of fire. ADFX-01 Falken was the successor to the ADF-02, had less armor, more agility, partial stealth, and the ability for AI integration. Notably, after the initial Falken an adjustment was made to put the laser (TLS) into the nose and move the cockpit further back. ADF-11F Raven is the successor to the Falken and notably can have a detachable UAV in the unmanned version. The Falken would be a better suited candidate for 5th Gen+ than the Morgans, or even the Raven. (Just a very quick and dirty overview. There's more intricacies for anyone who cares to read about them) Edit: the Falken goes back to Ace Combat 2. The Morgan was introduced in Ace Combat Zero.

In spite of having licensed airframes, the Ace Combat franchise is RIDICULOUS! Like, 19G turns, no blackout, 10g mid-air braking, no head exploding, let alone red-out. Each plane has a destroyer's weight in AA missiles. And, especially in the later titles, you fight anime bosses that get smaller and faster somehow every time you beat them. AND, there's ALWAYS a restricted-maneuverability tunnel you have to go through, every game. Grim Reapers should do playthroughs of all the Ace Combat entries!!

That means the only chance of shooting it down is to get ahead, and get a nose-to-nose shot with a radar-cintrolled missile, or nose-to-nose with guns. 14:50 Just like that. Dogfighting without the changes, the Aim9x can hit 80% of the time at a impossible 90degree angle, due to the missile dropping off the wing and firing off. But a raptor and that Ace Combat plane are almost up and up in a circle dogfight, but the way it can turn and pick up speed, it can notch locks quickly. I saw it on growling sidewinders channel. When he tested 5thgen planes vs possible 6th gen plane which possibly, could be like this plane.

DCS at 60fps is so nice to watch. Thanks! Growling Sidewinder's videos make me feel like puking at 24fps without the benefit of motion blur. It's like I remember "high resolution" 1024x768 3D gaming was like when I was lucky to squeeze 20fps out of Descent 3, with some stupid video card and a Pentium II 400, and 64MB of memory. But we don't have to put up with any framerate lower than 60, for any video made today. Thank you kindly for videos which play so smoothly, on my 200Hz freesync monitors. I am much obliged - and the people of the future send their thanks!

Well, there was a little something called the X-15. It went past mach 6. Not for very long and very (very!) high, but it did. It never went anywhere but the research was still quite valuable for the Space Shuttle. Wiki says mach 6.70 (4,520 mph) and 354,200 feet. Edit: None-planes are cheating! Btw idea after comments: What can intercept a re-entering Apollo capsule at Mach 32?

There was also a little thing called the Aurora, and there IS a thing called the "Darkstar/SR72" That currently flies over Mach 6,and that's sustained flight. Yes, I know it's not publicly acknowledged, but they're both real.

@@TraditionalAnglican yes but that were not planes but rockets and space ships. Any space rocket is much faster than any plane. The shuttle was MUCH faster than any plane ever on re-entry (Orbital velocity is something like Mach 24) but it's not really a plane. It's a (lousy) unpowered glider. The X-15 flew up through the air as plane, using aerodynamics and it's own (rocket) power. And came down as such. And a Gemini or Apollo capsule has no own power (except for tiny retro rockets on Gemini) and very little aerodynamics (but more than you think). So while you may define the Space Shuttle (with the crowbar) as plane, They are not. Apollo is of course by far the fastest manned thing ever to come down from space through the air. As for SR-72 but "they are real" in a youtube comment is not a viable source. Also no real data, no official record, even if it's real.

Additional comment: I (approximately) ran the numbers, and at Mach 5, they had a little less than 10 minutes to intercept before that plane traveled the 600 miles to the finish line. [Mach 5 is just shy of 64 miles per minute] Love the videos, guys! Keep up the great work!

The story goes that there was a U-2 cruising across the UK on the way to Europe, very safe in the knowledge that no one could touch them that high up. At which point a RAF Lightning goes past _vertically_ on full afterburners. XD

I would have thought the Mach Five plane could have gotten away too. But you all proved that speed is useless if you can't maneuver at speed. Aliens that far advanced would have a way around that problem. If not, the alien attack may not end very well for the visitors. LOL Very good episode and great flying by everyone!

This is the best kind of DCS video, loads of fun but actually relevant to the real world too. With air-to-ground missiles approaching these speeds, intercepting them is a problem. You do need a team to get on simulating those nuclear air-to-air missiles like the Genie. As far as I know, no one ever fired one so it would be interesting to see the effect?

Go Simba! I was just thinking that the only way to actually hit the thing, would be if you fired the missile from the front of it. Since it's just going to be faster than anything you fire at it, hitting it from the side or rear is just not going to happen. If I am not mistaken, that is how the Viggen locked on to the blackbird back in the Baltic Express days. Since they knew what path it would take, and to be fair, at mach 5 it's not going to change course a lot, the Viggen could climb up in front of it, and just about place a missile in front of it (not for real ofc). So if you can get a plane in front of it, it shouldn't much matter what plane it is, or what missile it is, as long as it's capable of getting that far. well,, theoretically anyway. ;)

i remember that plane in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. it had some strange weaponry. it was a challenge on the easier levels, but at max lvl, the only way to beat it is to use the laser and hit it at the start of the fight, otherwise, it's game over lol

Cu-Cr-Nb-Zr coating is how it resists the heat it's not using GRCOP42 anywhere but the detonation engine(the copper cobalt nickel alloy quickly releases the heat to atmosphere so it doesn't melt)

you should put it up against an IADS with a further away QRF and lower it's RCS cos it's alien tech and even with all our radar tech I still think 1 would still get through to target of multiple were used, say 8v8.
