This is a great video about the use of Oratex the BetterAircraftFabric by one of our customers. If there are questions about it I be glad to answer them anytime. On our U-Tube-channel BetterAircraftFabric we also have more videos about it and its glue. Our website offers an instruction-brief and naturally the contact info for further inquiries. With Oratex Aircraft Fabric all drawbacks of fabric covering aircraft are history, as we can make it totally non-toxic to the builder and yet lighter and stronger on the airplane! Best Regards
On 2nd thought, use something similar to a fly's wing (plastic/Mylar?). Attach small tubes to it that carry fluid that can be moved to change the airfoil shape dynamically. Think of how blood flow changes the shape of parts of your body. Same thing.
This video is very incomplete, leaves out too many vital keypoints. How to follow mfg suggested temps, min max temp ranges how to prevent twisting your wings from over shrinking, what type of glues, how much to shrink, how to test the tension, and many other key factors barley the basics. I've completed airframe and powerplant school and this is not even close. Ive used Ceconite, and other types of dacron fabrics with superseam cement and polyflow sealants, sprayfill and other products with intensive instructions to detail to provide the best possible results.
Do you have a video(s) you could recommend? I have an old Schweizer 2-33 to cover. Fuselage is welded steel tubing and fabric covered. Wings are thin aluminum skin and tail is aluminum except rudder is fabric. Right glue? Fabric? New to all of this. Glider was a gift and not bad shape but want to fully restore it. Thanks. S
A day..? Sure, if you've done a few before and you don't think rib stitching is something you need and no taping. Nothing against this material but it's not going to replace conventional covering systems any time soon.
