information, for you and subs/readers put servos NEAR the cg, Not aft-of it.!!! cg is Supposed to be located at Thirty percent of chord. have servos been installed with vibration DAMPING. if not, they WILL glitch, from engine vibration. a design should include the use of Optimal Proportions. design optimization can and Should be done when copying ANY design, old or new.! a review of ga lightplane designs provides the nominal proportions of a conventional aircraft. beginning with, say, the planned wingspan, All the other parts of the airframe SHOULD be Optimally sized.! proportions means comparisons of certain dimension; they include: wingspan to chord length; wingspan to fuselage length; distance between wing and stabs; wingspan to horiz-stab span; vert-stab height to horiz-stab span; distance between the prop and the main wing. the use of flared stab or wingtips is Not recommended. the use of a couple degrees of sweep at the horiz-stab le IS recommended. the use of that trailing edge piece in the main wing had two unwanted consequences. using it made the wing heavier and wonkified the wing's dom; in both axes.! 4:43 a tail boom should taper down to 'nothing'; not down to a blunt end.! this type of construction results in there being 'excess' mass in the tail boom; unless steps are taken to reduce mass. such reduction can be PLANNED FOR by using Formers, instead of longerons, in the tail boom. d modelaircraft.com/wp-content/plugins/RSSPoster_PRO/cache/f3bd8_3-Fuse-Framed-rearview-web.jpg
battery was placed forward. servos were moved aft to balance the plane. sometimes its just more fun to build it how you want it to look. This was built to look like one of the first planes I built from thin cut pine about 40 years ago, I had no money for balsa back then, and it flew pretty good for its weight. We will see how this one flies soon. years of building all kinds of RC planes says it will fly ok. thanks for the comment, and the link.
Trust me, he knows how to build and fly a plane. I've watched it for 40 years... Go ahead and challenge him on something.... like hey, bet you can't build your own homemade RC radial engine, my money is on 2 months and he'll have a running engine.
