I am sooo happy you are doing more tutorial videos. Your previous coyote hunting tutorial video is how I discovered you. Down to earth, confident, and informative. Great attitude to boot. I’m sure Senior is proud. Keep up the good work!

Another great video. As far as lights here in the east coyotes are super sensitive to any light I use red and only the halo of the light until it’s shooting time. I also hunt solely with shotgun. In the 90s we had no coyotes so fox was the main predator to hunt. Red lights straight in the eyes no issue. For me it was always about how close I could get them. I really think you guys are great and super informative no matter the outdoor subject. Keep doing a great job!

The content is solid keep it up. It's likely a lot of people came for the lake mead content like I did, but not everyone will want to stay for the hunting part like I am. Your a natural on camera, your audience will continue to grow. (to other viewers, RU-vid really looks at whether videos are getting comments, the more they get the more RU-vid will recommend it to others, they call it engagement, any engagement is good, even "good video" works)

Light hunting tip: scan at eye-level, meaning hold your scan light at your eye level. You will be amazed at how easier it is for you to pick up their eyes scanning at this level vice holding it out the light at your side. Scanpro or sniper hog lights make headlamps designed for scanning that have all 3 colors, battery packs, and adjustable throw of the light. But thermal is my preferred hunting of coyotes, fox, bobcat, and hogs.

Hunting coyotes at night just became legal in my state between February 11th & November 1st. I’ve been looking at the ATN thermal scopes. Seems like the way to go.

I’ve used a lower priced ATN thermal monocular and a ATN ltv 5x15 for around 1100$ for both and I’ve loved it so much. I use the monocular to scan and then I can shoot with the night vision

Another thing with thermal vs lights vs IR is you need to check your local laws aswell, I started out with an IR and it worked but living in iowa it limited the time I could hunt (can’t hunt during deer season with IR) so I made the jump to a thermal and a thermal scanner, we also can’t use lights for predator hunting, great video tho keep it up👌🏻

The place I go duck hunting there are a ton of coyotes and I’ve always wondered if I could take one with a goose load ( 3 1/2” BBB hevi-metal) and a full choke
@kaleb-olson
@kaleb-olson 2 года назад
That’ll do the job pretty much at the same distances it does for geese. I’d be comfortable taking shots at 40-50 yards with that load if it patterned well with that choke in my gun.
@415gman

@@kaleb-olson cool thanks!
@toddk1377
@toddk1377 Год назад
That load definitely works. When you pattern your shot, a coyotes vital zone is like 8" all the way around. I use a paper plate and whatever distance it takes until I don't have at least a third or so of pellets on that plate, that's where I call it. Same if you use buckshot, which I prefer, especially #4 buck. With my 870 supermag express, using full choke and 3.5" Winchester #4 buck (54 22 caliber pellets), I have had some patterns that were delivering at least 5 pellets within a paper plate from 65 yards, which has been repeatable enough that I would feel comfortable to shoot that load and set up that far, but ymmv.

Where you sell the cayotes??
@kaleb-olson
@kaleb-olson 2 года назад
Sometimes the state DNR will buy them if they’re offering rewards for harvests, look into where the nearest fur trade center is. The local DNR website should have resources to find fur trade. If I you want more work, you can flesh and tan the hides yourself and sell them on Facebook marketplace or something as long as it’s legal in your state. Make sure to check your local regulations on selling game or fur bearing animal products.

I'm all into hunting so don't take this the wrong way, but what's the point of coyote hunting? Do you eat the meat, harvest the pelts, mount them? It looks really fun. Just discovered the channel definitely subscribing.
@SinCityOutdoors
@SinCityOutdoors 2 года назад
They reproduce really fast here and their main food sources are rabbit and quail. Being from the Las Vegas desert, we don’t have any big game to hunt nearby so we go after the pests around the city. We also travel to help farmers with coyote problems to save sheep and calves. The furs pay for gas money. In Utah the Game Wardens give you $50 per coyote you take in. They really are a problem for all other species
