A new tip I did this year: we bought a green tree (instead of our flocked one) and decorated it with woodsy ornaments with muted green, copper pine cones, real pine cones, muted gold ornaments and rustic bells. It is less “Christmas” and more winter and you can leave it up if you want too for all of January ❤

Great idea! I take down all my ornaments and just leave up my amber glass pinecones with the warm lights. I keep it up all January too.

I love how you have simplified your home. It really is inspiring! There are so many channels on RU-vid where there is constant buying home decor and changing styles. It is hard to keep up with it. My winter cozy must is my window candles. I don’t have outside outlets so don’t put up outside Christmas lights. I use electric candles in the windows at the meeting rail height with cafe curtains below with artificial ivy which isn’t as Christmasy looking as evergreens after Christmas is over. I love the soft glow in the windows from the time we switch from daylight savings time to standard time and leave them up until daylight savings time starts again!

Your home and style of decorating is gorgeous! It is sometimes discouraging for those of us in smaller homes to see someone decorate a home with all that space for "goodies"! Your home is so cozy, warm and restful. Just perfect! Thanks for the inspiration.

Although I love taking down curtains in the spring, I just can’t handle that in winter. Not only does it potentially increase drafts around my windows (not that curtains resolve that issue!) but psychologically looking out on snow just makes me shiver even when it is toasty and warm inside! In my dining room I have full length lace panels, but in winter I tie them back and add solid broadcloth cafe tiers underneath at the meeting rail height. They block the view of snow on the ground while giving open view through the upper sash. The first year I did that it was psychologically like pulling a blanket around my lap! 😂 So much better feeling to me than no curtains or even lace curtains!

As much as I love putting up my Christmas decor, I am ready to take it down after Christmas.. I took 90% down yesterday, and just have my tree up, I will take it down on New Years Day.. I have left few winter decor in place, but love my home to be simplistic and minimal … love this video❤and your home, so beautiful

We just put everything away and cleaned the rooms we could. We are jumping right in to the entryway/hallway makeover.🤍 I don’t like cords showing either. Great idea on hiding them.👏🏻

As always, I love your videos Amy. I am definitely affected by the weather not only emotionally but physically due to health issues. Your home looks so comfy but yet cheerful with all of the lamps and natural light you let in when you took down your drapes. Of course , the touches of greenery and even your roses also brighten it up. I was just thinking yesterday about bringing out some of my faux white roses (white just seems to go with January to me). 😊❤😊
