The Last Unicorn was one of my favorite movies as a child (it’s sort of dark) but still loved it. Showed it to my husband he was not a fan but turns out I still love it! Embarrassed I never knew it was based on a book so added that to my TBR list really quick.

I just picked up The Last Unicorn and I can’t wait to read it. I was OBSESSED with the cartoon when I was a kid. Like, I watched it ONE THOUSAND times before I suspect my parents burned it. lol

I finished The Deep Sky a few days ago! I think it will be a really interesting one to re-read because I glossed over the mini chapters with bird descriptors but the way it all came together at the end...just wow 👏

It's cool to see so many people saying that they loved The Last Unicorn movie in the comment section because my twin sister and I were TERRIFIED of that film. Literally had nightmares for days because of the harpie, the bull, and the ominous castle setting. 😅😅

There is a book coming out in a few days I think, it is called Sands of Elysium A Knight of Sol, Elves and mad max stuff, no idea if you like dark science-fantasy though Regan.

"The Deep Sky" sounds similar to Alexandra Monir's duology "The Final Six"/"The Life Below" and Temi Oh's "Do You Dream of Terra-Two?"--I'll give it a try!🧡

Since you liked The Deep Sky so much, I'd also highly recommend Do You Dream of Terra-Two? by Temi Oh. It has some similar concepts but it's my personal preference of the two.

Have you read the never ending story by Michael Ende? I always loved the film, especially as a kid. Last year I finally decided to read the book and I was literally blown away how great it was and that there is actually so much more to the story than what the film shows. I definitely want to read the last unicorn too as I love the movie (I watched it so many times as a child). You must go and see it.

Did you see the movie for the Last Unicorn? I saw it when I was a kid and it stuck with me all these years. It may be hard to find, but a Library might have it.

I couldn’t finish The Deep Sky had to dnf half way through.

I ended up DNF’ing The Deep Sky. I didn’t enjoy reading from Asuka’s perspective. Her lack of self-esteem and confidence was too angsty for me. Just came here to say that I’m pretty sure she is not half white and Japanese. Perhaps at the point where you gave your update you had not yet read the flashback that contained the scene where a man asked her father if he was Mexican. Plus the brother’s name was Luis. So I’m guessing she is half Hispanic or Latinx.
