@@elicarter1356 ahhh well you need to get that fixed asap...SOME engine braking is good but, it's used in combo with the brakes on the kart to ease the pressure on the motor as you downshift. this was just wide open engine braking. thanks for the reply I understand now
As long as you keep the oil/gas mix right, keep the air filter clean and change transmission oil every 5 hours of use they are like any other small engine.
Top ends should last a while. They recommend every 6-8 hours of racing but that’s at the top level most abused engines tuned to the most performance. You could probably get away with 40 hours. I plan on doing 20 or so since it’s cheap and relatively quick easy maintenance to do a top end. Also this guy was over revving his big time on those downshifts, and the transmission will grenade in short time with those flat foot shifts. Take care of your motor and it will last.
Just picked up birel go cart complete frame set up I'm going take my 89 cr125 first year of power valve install fatty exhaust .if you have any pointers fabrication on the brackets I would zelle for your knowledge I'm pm thanks.
Sounds like it has a short circuit gearset with a short ratio transmission. It makes for some quick acceleration, but downshifting takes longer since the engine wants to keep revs up high and spins the engine into the redline. I know the brakes are gonna be sticky on these things, so even slowing down ain't gonna be easy and gentle. lol
I talked to a guy with a kx250 shifter kart that did 145mph. I couldn't imagine how crazy it would be to drive that thing. My kart scares the shit out of me already...
That is horrible for a two stroke engine to rev up when u down shift because there is know oil getting to the piston and eventually it’ll wear out and blow up because there’s no engine oil like a four stroke not hating love the shifter kart
You gotta build them, it's a dirt bike engine on a go Kart frame. Good luck, they're quite a bit of maintenance and suck to build but most definitely one of the funnest toys.
This is why I will NEVER buy anyone elses kart. This does damage to the crank bearings, not only the top end. I know how respect my CR85 motor! I run it rich, NEVERR engine brake my motor and run Motul oil.
