Good video. Ive locked and relocked a few transaxles for my tractor. Any updates on how it held? Looked like you did a really good job. Are you building a racer or a off roader or something or just using it to cut grass or do yard work?
Thanks... I use this just as a mower right now, but am making adjustments so I can add a small 3 point hitch and have a disc and plow attachments. I haven't had any issue with the locked diff. Has worked great. Good luck on your diff
Welding the diff spider gears is ok if you are only mowing the lawn. By doing all that you just made the gears temper harder and brittle and could chip and grenade your transaxle. There is a way to lock diff without welding or using collar to lock the axle.. now every time you turn the inside wheel will turn as fast as the outside and the excessive torque is all pointing on them welded gears.. enjoy while it last.. I did.... I learned the hard way now I know a better way. Good luck..

I have steep hills that I mow on, and attached a garden ripper to the back. So in order to keep traction, I welded the diff You lose a bit of turn radius, but well worth being able to go up and side to side on the hill and garden
Those are actually Oil Seals (Dana part number 7088) they were already there, but I ended up replacing those as well because of leaks. Glad I did. Still working great
From my experience... welding the spider gears and the gears to the axle ensures a long lasting diff locker. Still have my mower locked and haven't had a single problem
