Craig Gruber, who sadly passed away in 2015, was in the Mark 1 lineup of Ritchie Blackmore's RAINBOW in 1975. He chats about the writing and recording of Sixteenth Century Greensleeves.
And then Craig apparently replaced Geezer Butler in Black Sabbath during the writing sessions for the "Heaven and Hell" album! But then Geezer returned, and they threw out Craig's bass-lines and Geezer played from scratch! I'd loved to have heard what Craig's versions sounded like? 🤘🏻
Craig Gruber has a lot to do with why I’ve debated which Rainbow album is my favorite. It’s between the debut and Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll for me. I love Bob Daisley but Craig just set the groove so well and Greensleeves is one of the best examples. I’m still having a hard time figuring out the bass part at the end of the song
