Any parent understands instantly that this is the greatest pain a parent could ever experience to lose a child. The lose of any child is crippling for a parent, but to lose a teen or child with so much life a head of them would be incredibly difficult to deal with. How he manages to make it through this song is beyond me.

I knew when it came out he had written it for his son Jerry and I’ve tried to listen to it like I didn’t know and it has to be a huge shock. My prayers go out to Craig as well as Granger Smith who lost his 3 year old son to a drowning accident as well. Granger is leaving country music and dedicating his life to serving his church

You should totally listen to him sing this live on the Kelly Clarkson show. You'll cry like a baby. He's an extremely amazing singer, too. I got to see him live and it was awesome.

This song is hard to watch him sing knowing he wrote it about his son who drowned. You just see that pain in his face when he hits the last note. Another great song to react to would be the recent performance with Craig and Jelly Roll at the Grand Ole Opry of Craig's song Almost Home, which is a great song, and you will see a lot of Craig's character in that video too. Craig writes songs with real meaning. There are other fun songs too like International Harvester, but most have some pretty deep meaning too them.

This song hit home for me. I lost my daughter 20 yrs ago last March. I have come through it, and am at peace with it now, but it took a long time. Even though I had nothing to do with it, I had to learn to forgive myself. We as parents tend to blame ourselves, and do the "what ifs". My daughter was a few months shy of her 3rd birthday, and she had a personality that could melt the hardest of hearts. You couldn't get mad at her even when she was being naughty. I remember one time I had just got home from work, well over at my in-laws, but anyways. As I walked in they said oh good you're here, and now you can deal with it. I can't remember to this day what it was that she was doing wrong, but when I got after her, she blew raspberries at me! I turned to look at my wife and mother-in-law, they both had their hands over their mouths. I started to smirk, but had to keep a straight face. I had to get after her for that too, and she did it again! Later after the kids were put to bed, we laughed and laughed about it. It was so cute and adorable even though she was acting up! Lol

You should listen to the part of the Kelly Clarkson show where he talks about how this song came about. That really is a tear jerker and to see him perform it on her show only made it worse.

The raw emotion in this song is heartbreaking. I know he had only intended to sing this once, but I am grateful he decided to release it because this is one of those songs that so many can relate to. A song so many needed.

My grandparents lost their son to a terrible accident when he was only 14;but they loved each other, prayed a lot until both of their deaths. They were a team just waiting and going through the motions until they made it home to him🙏❤️

I did not tell my dad how much I loved him anywhere near enough. That is one of the biggest regrets of my life. I am so sorry for his pain but bless him for the song. I have never heard this song before. Thank you so much for sharing. We lost my brother last year, and this song just broke me (in a good way). My mom lost her father early (she was 15, he was 44). She watched her grandfather bent over in half at the funeral. That was the only thing she ever wished in her life, was to never lose a child before herself. 💔😭

No parent should ever have to lose a child. It's a pain that you can't explain, it's a deep throbbing pain. And it takes a lot to get up and monster through the day when you lose a child. I know it's hard when you lose loved ones in general but losing a child is the worst. A b great reaction, sometimes there's nothing left to say cuz the music speaks for itself. Craig wrote this song after his real Son passed away!! He never wanted to hide it from all the public forever,...because it was far too close to his heart and didn't feel he was strong enough to sing it through.
