Metal / rock fans first time reaction to Craig Morgan's "The Father My Son, and the Holy Ghost" while checking out some Wild Turkey Rye - Barrel Proof.

He wrote this song in one night. The loss of his son was almost more then he could handle. He also sings a song This ain't nothing, is a very good song by Craig. Real down home country.. Thanks guys. Country music can and does get you in your feels.
As a mom of adult kids, nothing in life prepared me to witness my son losing his first born and only daughter, when she was 4...This song hits home..I can not get through it without remembering the pain of what it felt like, to watch my son and his wife lose their first born....God Bless the parents who grieve a child..
Craig Morgan served in the US Army 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions before starting his music career. His son Jerry died in a tubing accident 5yrs ago this past July. So tragic and you’re 💯 right… none of us even want to imagine that kinda pain🥺 Craig wrote and sang about it😔 As you can imagine, Craig has always continued to do alot for our troops. Some other songs you might enjoy: -Almost Home -This Ain’t Nothin’ -What I Love About Sundays -God Must Really Love Me Another good reaction, guys! Thanks!! Stay safe & love much!💖
The first time he sang this was at the Grand Ole' Opry and when it was over he ran into a friend and I can't remember his name but he told him he loved the song. Craig said he was glad he saw it cause he would never sing it again. The guy told him this song is too important to not keep singing. This song has impacted my family because my parents have buried 2 sons. This song means a lot to them.
When he sang this live on kelly Clarkson show the gap of breath he took at the end made me lose it. I could never imagine losing a child. For all of you out there reading this that have lost a child may love, peace and understanding find you. I am so sorry for your losses.
Yeah guys. He lost his 19 yr old son in a tubing accident. Craig is a great guy too. Between active duty and reserves he served about 17 1/2 yrs in the army, including around 8 as a combat medic. A couple months before the holidays is 2023 Craig came onstage in uniform along with a reserve officer. Craig told family and friends and eventually fans that he felt he had left something unfinished because he did not get his full 20 in. So that night on stage he got sworn back in to the reserves to finish the job. You should check out his video for his song, This Ain't Nothin'.
As y’all have by now with discovered, Craig Morgan’s son Jerry, drowned from a tubing accident. He was tubing with his friends and even though he had a life vest on, he drowned. What’s not been mentioned is that Jerry was adopted by Craig and his wife when he was an infant. The death of his son Has left a hole in him and his wife. Craig is very good friends with Blake Shelton. Blake has stood beside Craig the entire time. Craig performed this song on the Kelly Clarkson show, where Blake Shelton was in attendance. I watched that show and broke down. For the life of me I don’t understand how Craig can perform the song. Craig wrote the song in one night and has somehow managed to perform the song many times. He has said that he leaves that song to the end of his CERT because it takes so much out of him emotionally. He’s also said that he doesn’t always sing this song. He indicated that it depends on how he feels at that moment. I believe that y’all’s reaction to this video was spot on. Thank you!
Thank you Veterans! Craig is an Afgan Veteran. He has written many powerful life-lesson songs: This ain’t nothing What I love about Sunday’s Almost home
He lost his son in a drowning accident and he wrote this song, and said he would never record or play it, but did for the first time on the Opry and had several of his friends tell him he had to sing it. It has a wonderful message to share through his heartbreak and grief, and I can’t imagine what he and his family endure daily but it’s an absolutely beautiful message.
If you listen to the live version, where he 1st performed it on the Grand Old Opery, his voice is actually better. And his band is with him. I saw him perform it live at a concert, and it's powerful.
He wrote that song about his son he lost in a tragic accident. Such a sad story. His live version of this song is absolutely amazing. You really need to watch the live version the first time he sang it live.
As a mother who has lost my son around the same time as this song came out, it hits very hard around this time of year. My son is still here even though he passed. The emotions hold solid.
This song gets me every time I hear it. I'm just glad while my son was deployed in the Marines that he didn't run into a situation that would have taken him. But it's a hard emotional trip.
I always cry when I hear this one. The live version of it broke me....even this with the emotion on his face does....I have 4 kids and I just can't imagine....
When someone loses a spouse, they're called a widow or widower. When a child loses their parents, they're called an orphan. I have noticed that there is no other name for a parent who loses a child. I wonder if that's maybe because there is no adequate word to describe the pain of losing a child. It's a pain that cannot be described and only understood by someone who has endured such a loss.
Thank y'all for reacting to this song. With Craig morgan, much like Martina McBride, it's about some AMAZING story telling. If y'all ever get a chance I would love for you to listen to just one more "story" by him. Craig Morgan this ain't nothing. And just in case y'all haven't watched it, a little pick me up fun one, Toby Keith I ain't as good as I once was. But even if y'all don't. Thank you for your awesome reactions. Look forward to see'in y'all again!
The first time I heard this was a recording of when he sang it live. He only intended to sing it once. But another singer convinced him to sing it again, telling him there were so many others who could relate to the words and his emotions. Blake Shelton also helped convince him to release the song. It really is an example of a song that is driven by raw emotion; a song that, sadly, even many non-country fans can relate to, because they have been there. My dad has a friend who lost three adult children in two years. Two died in car accidents and another died saving her son from drowning. This song makes me think of him.
My Daddy’s little brother was killed in an accident in 1974 at the age of 14; my grandparents relied so strongly on their to prevent a fracture in raising My Daddy & Aunt. Omg I’ll never understand how they stayed so strong and kept going. my grandmother told me “Sweetheart we had 2 other children to raise that needed a good experience and 2 healthy parents.” I Am so grateful they were so strong or I might have had a Father that was dysfunctional 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
He has a lot of great songs. You can totally feel his emotion. Even more sad when you realize this is a true story. Glad you finally reacted to this song.
This is one of my favorite songs. I have an aunt that has lost two of her three sons. One to cancer, one to a car accident. I always relate this song to her. She has not lost her faith. I don't know how, but she's so positive.
Y'all! I've always felt that he wrote this song for me too. My Son, Brandon, was also 19. He passed just 4 days after being diagnosed with a rare leukemia. This song hits home in every single way.
I love Craig Morgan, I love the gravel. But he lost his son a few years back, he debut this at the Grand O'l Opry and he broke down and told his team that he would never sing it again. But the out pour of people who related to it is what showed him how important the song was. I lost my cousin in December of 2016, she was 23. So this song always makes me think of her. My bourbon comment... I will keep recommending Brown Sugar Bourbon by Heritage
I was scanning shelves at a place that has a pretty good selection around here just last week, and didn't see that. Bourbon availability can be a weird thing state-by-state. - Keith
He sang this only once for the grand ole opera. Ricky skaggs said you need to get singing this for all the families who lost someone as gard as it was he did
This song for me (reminds me of Anne Murray) here come the clowns but because I heard Craig Morgan sing under a different title and when I listen to the song it means respect For Father and a son and love of family. But because I love my country it means my Damn Flag rises and do not disrespect or hurt or harm anyone because our fore fathers gave us a safe place for our kids to go to school and church and not think we should have to worry about them being harmef
Another "hit ya in the feels", super emotional, true story song is Stay by Sugarland. Jennifer Nettles SANGS her butt off and the emotion behind it is 100% real.
I saw the video you guys reviewed with Johnny Paycheck, Colorado Kool AiD. Johnny is a great singer, who had many great songs. Johnny spent time in the Chillicothe prison, for shooting a man in the head in an Ohio bar, after having it out with country boys. Johnny wrote a song about Chillicothe, called, Chillicothe You’ve Really Got. Hold On Me, and he and Merril Haggard , do the song I’ll Break Out Tonight, inside Chillicothe prison.
This song really does hit you in the feels. His son died in a boating accident. We played this at my oldest son's funeral in early May of this year. It makes me cry every single time. We played " See You Again" at my youngest son's funeral in 2012.
My son passed when he was seven months old. It’d be his 9th birthday on January 7th and the hardest part of every day is trying to “rouse up some ambition”. This song is the most honest song about child loss I’ve ever heard.
You should check out when he did this on the Kelly Clarkson show. He barely got through it and it was super emotional! Before he sang it, one of his best friends, Blake Shelton, talk to him about it on that show.
He adopted his son and he lost him in a boating accident in which he drowned. He wrote the song and sent it to Blake Shelton to listen to and Blake encouraged him to record it. Craig said it’s hard to sing without breaking down so he doesn’t perform it much unless he feels he can get through most of it. His voice is definitely different due to trying to hold back the tears but if you listen to some of his other songs you can tell a difference
@@BourbonCountryReacts No, it covers all genres, a song for anyone that has lost a father or anyone for that matter. James Blunt is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Primarily pop/folk rock. Before entering the music industry he went to the Royal Military Academy and was commissioned into the Life Guards, a reconnaissance regiment where he rose to the rank of Captain. He extended his military service and was posted to the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in London as a member of the Queen's Guard. He also stood guard at the coffin of the Queen Mother (Queen Elizabeth's mother) during her lying in state and was part of the funeral procession. He's Involved in many charities, etc. Married to a Duke's daughter. And will one day no doubt be knighted for his service, loyalty, charitable works, achievement in the arts, etc. The song is beautiful and it has been reacted to on many of the country channels I watch. It rises above a specific genre.
Hes a great story teller but this song was authentic he lost a son 😢💔 his heart is unmatched in this delivery for a video he's just amazing great song 🎵❤️
I can relate to this song! 💯 I lost my middle son 11/29/19 at 29 years of age and today it still feels like it just happened! A part of me died that day and I'll never be the same!
Should listen to some Conway Twitty "That's My Job" and some Kenny Rogers "Lady" lady was written by Lionel Richie for Kenny. Lionel and Kenny were good friends. RIP KENNY ❤️
Here's the thing about country music real country music hits you in the fields you either feel sorry you feel angry you feel sad you feel happy you feel bouncy but real country music makes you feel always has always will
I saw my brother, an army special forces vet, completely broken when his only son was killed at 13. This song kills me. Craig is close friends with Blake Shelton who is the one who pushed him to release this song.
My oldest brother passed away in "09" from an accidental overdose. My Daddy was murdered in "2012"! Then, my sister passed away suddenly on June 8th of "2021" My Mom only has me and my baby brother left! I can only imagine my Mom has pulled through with the grace of God!
Hmm... we really haven't thought much about that. Usually, we don't research up front, that way, the song reaction is without any prejudice about the content. The only exception I can think of is 8th of November, because we wanted an appropriate Veteran's Day reaction. We looked up Gang Toi before playing it. Most times, you guys fill us in on the backstory. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts you guys liked the Tin Cup Rye as well. The only Rye I’ve tried is Wild Turkey 101 rye. It was good, just a little spicier than the bourbon.
you need to see the live at the Grand Ole Opry version. He really has issues with the emotion side of it. He said he would not ever sing it again. Another country star told him he HAD to let others hear it.
Craig Morgan and Blake Shelton are good friends. It’s no wonder that Blake stood by Craig’s side when his son died. When Blake was 14 years old, his 24-year-old brother Richie died in a vehicle accident along with his girlfriend and her daughter. Blake was devastated. When Blake was married to Miranda Lambert, they co-wrote a song about his brother. Emotionally, Blake was not able to release this song for himself so Miranda Lambert released it. He’s just now able to sing it in his concerts, whereas before he couldn’t. This might be something y’all would want to react to. The link is below. Vietnam Deck of Cards by Red Sovine or another good one is Kiss This by Aaron Tippin or I know you guys have been getting hit by many emotional songs Mississippi Squirrel Revival by Ray Steven's is just a straight out funny song... many laughs to be had
His son was killed in a boating accident the whole thing is just sad. Losing a child hurts! It hurts like a b*tch and I speak from experience. You never get over your child dying before you. I think of my daughter Teagan every single day and relive her death daily, 21 years after she passed. The only thing a parent has is God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. Without which, we would not survive. 😢
