Mittry Lake is a small lake resevoir of the Colorado River about 30 minutes outside of Yuma, Arizona in Yuma County.
The lake has a really good population of bass. I've heard of 7 and 8 pounders getting caught. Fish near shore! Cast right up near the grass.
The shore fishing can be really good and in just 45 minutes we had three bass. Special shore fishing areas were created just for fisherman.
However, given a chance to fish out of boat or from shore, I’d pick the boat. The shore can get crowded and it gets fished a lot.
My buddy Ron showed up with his boat not too long after we started shore fishing. So my wife and I joined him.
We got on some nice crappies and caught some okay bass.
Bass need to be 13 inches to keep and crappies have no size limit. Check your regulations if you plan to keep fish. And remember, you do need an Arizona fishing license if you fish.
