Putting together that gear box alone steers me away from axial, the different size hardware as you said Mr C just makes me scratch my head to no end! I would have nightmares about it for weeks lol. Great video Mr C Can't wait for the next one.

They give you 4 times the amount of oil needed to fill the shocks because Axial knows what will happen...oh yes, they know. Looks to be going together without significant issue thus far. Don't forget to disconnect the overdrive servo!

Greay vid Mr C😊 I had some spare green lizard seals which i uswd to build my pro shocks. Helped a fair bit to keeping them dry.

The Yeah Racing seals are the next best option after Traxxas X-seals. I have a fair number of shocks here rebuilt with spare Desert Lizard o-rings, because I've literally never had to replace one.

I believe the shim left over goes between spur carrier and bearing on the top shaft - the shim was missing from my kit

there is a thing of to much grease with scx24s. i kept overheating the motor

I ordered one since they were on sale. Will be my first kit but been in RC for over 20 years so I’m hoping it isn’t too bad. I can tell by your vids it may prove to be a little annoying at times during assembly haha

The gearbox is a big pile of question marks. Everything else is pretty much fine.

I tried running my Basecamp Builder's Kit shocks (pretty sure these are basically the same) upside down, and it didn't work for me. I found the knurled cap would loosen itself rubbing on rocks and underbrush. Though that may be more a trail problem than a Canyon one. I actually just switched my Zoku Basecamp to Desert Lizards because I couldn't keep oil in the ones from the kit (and they're way too long).

The Basecamp shocks never even get to the point of leaking for me, as they're easily 10mm too long for the chassis. They're on Scarlett now, upside down, with Big Bore seals in them.

I didnt do the trick of lubing the thread of the shaft while building my Desert Lizards. Didnt have any problem for now, but I will have that trick in mind for future shocks Why build 3 VRDs, when you can build 4?

So with the axial shocks freshly built which do prefer … the axial pro shocks or the Associated builders kit shocks ?

Oh, Associated/Element by a lot. They make the only other leak-free shock after Traxxas (not counting exotics like Kroniks)

If were measuring everything to grams, which seems just about right. Why do we measure spring size in mm and rate in lb/in. The scaling seems so off. Wouldnt it make more sense to rate them in g/mm? Most aftermarket car springs are rated in kg/mm...

Because no one knows what a g/mm is. If the world had taken a different turn some years ago, they might be. Also, the little springs are indeed 10mm ID, but virtually all of the "standard" size springs are actually imperial, 1/2" or 9/16" ID. The measurements are all so close that we just fudge them to fit whatever system we're using. The bore in most "10mm" shocks is usually a letter X drill size (0.397") The world, much like my brain, is a haphazard mish-mash of imperial and metric.
