That sound, it’s like music to my soul. I had a 96 Ultra SP, with the triple purple headed monster in it. That thing was great, but yours will truly be a beast! Great video.
No matter what brand sled a person stands behind. Everyone gets a big oh smile when you hear a piped triple coming down the trail or screaming across a lake.
Sled looks and sounds amazing. there is lots of dedication and pride put in to that fun haver.i love my rotax engines but watching you and your son rebuilding these big blocks Polaris makes me want one but my wife's not to happy about it haha.keep up the hard work and I look forward too seeing more of your videos I'm playing catch up right now
Todd and Trenton, GREAT BUILD! You should be proud of this project. We RU-vidRS sure are! I watch these vids on a smart tv so I dont comment much . I liked your note at the end of the video. Wanted to send appreciation for these vids and this project. I love these old INDYs and love these vids. Thanks for the aluminum polishing video as well. You guys are great!
Thanks bud for following my channel and watching my videos. I really appreciate it. This sled has really been a fun build. Last night and today we did a couple test rips on Bastard and she is a beast.
Super awesome man, you have inspired me extensively. Been working on my 88 650 improver radar runner more this year than I have in the last 5 years! All because of your videos. Love it man, glad to see someone who has a passion for the old triples like myself. Just plain awesome.
Looks like sled jewelry under that hood, great job guys. Can you imagine if Polaris brought back a 650 triple. It would sell out. You inspire me to get one and do my own build.👍👍👍👍👍🇨🇦
You dang right they would. Just had this conversation at my local Polaris dealership. The guy at the counter said. What to you think would happen if Polaris offered a triple 2 stroke again? I said there would be a waiting list for people wanting them!!!!
Love your videos! I've built a few Polaris Triples, Indy 600's & 650's years ago and wish I still had them... These old triple sleds have a special place in my heart. You got me thinking I'm ready for another 650 build!
Pretty sharp looking Todd! The ceramic coating on the pipes and the aluminum skis really set it off, nice work. Like you say it all pays off in the end when all things come together, it makes your work, money, and frustrations all worth it. Look forward to seeing it running on the snow.
Thanks man I always appreciate your comments. A couple test rips around the yard and things seem to be good. Hauling Bastard up north to the cabin later this week for a shake down test ride.
Nice sled!! 1990 Indy 650? That’s the first sled that I bought myself back in the day! The old Polaris triples always had an awesome sound that was unique.
I’ve been watching this build since the first video...so excited to see this 650 do a high speed pass on the snow! Great job man! You have inspired me to work on my classic too. I just picked up a 96 Vmax-4 that needs a little tlc
The Vmax 4’s certainly are a different breed. That’s what I love about them. Very unique sound with quad pipes. I love them. I still miss my old RXL though!
dude 650 looks awesome. bought one brand new in 88 an 89 model had it until 2004. sold it with 14 k on the odometer but odometer broke 3yrs before I sold. loved that sled
That sled looks and sounds so amazing, I can't wait to see it out on the snow and some footage of it tearing across a lake. I wonder just how many old sled restorations you will be responsible for this season alone because of your videos. Cheers
Another great thing about two strokes, adding oil, another added expense. The greatest thing about two strokes when you go into a place to eat, there's no doubt what you're riding.
This sled get me so fired up every video you post! Sounds sick kick ass job and can't wait to see you rip it on the snow! Also thx for the polishing video can't wait to do it on my 98and 96!
Really enjoying this series, so much motivation to keep working on my father in laws 88 Indy 650 and really helpful when you mention vendors in MN as we are west of the metro. What are your favorite forums or Facebook groups for info or parts on these?
love that sound!! I'm thinking about getting one of those sled lifts but it looks like removing the skid would be a problem with the rear bars of the lift right in the center of the track on either side. any thought on that , I would love hear back!! Thanks for all the videos
Awesome work man! Wish I had that garage space. I got an 800 triple out of a storm going in an 87' indy 600 chassis. Trying to build a crossover muscle sled
Could listen to you talk all day long. There is a guy named Eric "The Rock" Jenson who is a radio producer for the Bob & Brian show on 102.9 The Hog Milwaukee and he's also the announcer for the Milwaukee Bucks. You sound just like him it's scary. Super cool builds bud, love all your sleds. Need a triple triple in my life.
@@TheDillio187 yes for the most part. Trying to burn less wood to cut down on the amount of wood needed each winter. First year of it so we'll see how it works out.
Hey guys I just picked up a 1990 indy 500 classic with 817 miles on it. I'm looking for any info you can give me for widening the front suspension. Thanks for reading
1 million dollars if you paid me by the hour. I'm kinda slow. Lol it's really just a hobby for me a Trenton to spend time building stuff together. Thanks for you nice comment!
Dude this looks really good. Didnt notice what did you do for the bottom end on that motor. Did you swap oil seals at least? At least that PTO end will leak easily when getting older. Cant wait for running video!
Yeah Hey bro I just got a sled just like it. I think mine's an 87 but I don't know the The model. What model is yours Mine looks exactly the same trying to order parts can't figure It's out it's out. Is it Polaris Indy? Or is it triple Indy? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
when i raced that sled eveybody was putting a 1/2 plate between the crank and motor plate to stop twisting just need 4 longer bolt it looks like a dog bone to clear steering rod
ive been looking for new triple pipes for my yamaha, and i don’t know if i’m stupid or not but i can’t find anywhere that sells new ones. Where’d you get yours, or did you refurbish them?
I have 3 RXL'S all mint efi is awesome 2 have pipes and a lot of clutch and motor work. the 94 has clutch and motor work, but I took a coat hanger and dug all of the baffling material from the exhaust and tig welded a bigger outlet and I hear it 200 times a run, what kind of pipes are those ?and everyone one says it's incredible sounding , and no one has ever heard anything like it. The computer for the EFI Keeps it running perfect and it flys.if u still have the original exhaust , take all the baffling out of the can and try it. It only sounds unique on the EFI 650 RXL'S . I BET u will leave it on. Wicked snappy screaming one of a kind sound .
If your significant other thinks the two stroke fumes smell like cologne you either need to check under the belly pan and/or get a ring on that finger. I don’t judge. :D
Sick sounding 650! Love it! Do you take on clients for restorations of sleds? I've got a 1991 650 that needs a little TLC. You know your stuff. Just a curiosity question. Great job!
Big wast of money man.. like why bother with that old relic... of course I am kidding what a weapon would love to see it smoke a brand new????? ANY THING.. wanted to add spark plugs are cheaper then top end so 50:1 plus injection we get it man.
