Getting old should be exciting, not daunting. The less time we have to live in this mentally fucked up world, the better. Who would honestly want to continue seeing the world go downhill? I, for one, cannot wait to pass & move on to my next life
🤣 Every christmas if you can hear the deafening pulsejet and feel the scorching heat, then you know it's Santa coming! And make way or you'll be ran over!!
SO cute u think that. Here's the reality: As a military venture, Arpa had a specifically military motivation for creating the internet: it offered a way to bring computing to the front lines. In 1969, Arpa had built a computer network called Arpanet, which linked mainframes at universities, government agencies, and defense contractors around the country.
This was a light heated comment and in no way was trying to falsely state the origins of the internet. Its totally awesome your trying to spread facts on the internet, however in this case you've tried a bit too hard to be right.
i'm genuinely wheezing because of how calmly he reacted once he had realised what had happened to his engine. i hope you live a long and eventful life sir, much love from England
@@Stroon92 It's probably wasnt even made as a bot is the sad thing. It's probably someone's actual RU-vid account that got hacked and is not being controlled by a bot.
I can almost imagine a cop chasing you and when he pulls up alongside. Instead of pulling you over, he salutes, gives you a thumbs up, pulls in front of you and escorts you along the highway. Some spectacles are just too damn awesome to interrupt.
This man is the pinnacle of Civilian bravery, not guys up against crooks with guns, not guys parkouring off buildings, it's this man and his phenomenal engineering. Godspeed.
I think back to all the crazy stupid stuff I did 20 years ago, then watch this magnificent maniac 20 years older than me and realize how tame it has become. All alone, no fire suit, no fire extinguisher in sight, no water anywhere, and he looks quite flammable. All glory be to you, may the joyride never end, you wonderful madman!
Easily the most badass old man on youtube. Hauling ass around the desert on a glowing hot rocket, one hand on the steering wheel, beard flapping in the wind and not a seat belt in sight. Man I hope I'm that cool when I'm your age!
Sometimes I find myself walking through life feeling like I don't know what it's meant for. Then I see videos like this and realize that it's meant to be enjoyed and you are supposed to have as much fun as you can while you can! Love your videos!
The same person who put the laws in on which such epic engine relies to run, upon which it is built, the same Creator has a plan and purpose for your life. Seek Him and you will find Him, ask Him and He will answer, knock and He will open. He did not leave us to our destruction, but came into the flesh in Jesus to make all things new. The reason we find ourselves in meaninglessness is because we are far from home, far from our home with God the Father. That's why He sent His only begotten Son, that we may find our home again, and our Father, through His Son, Christ Jesus. Amen
You sir, have "I've lived long enough that I dont care if this kills me, lets have fun" vibes. Good on you doing something like this, its freaking cool.
@@asparagusstaging430 hopefully not but in fact I delay my experimenting with psychedelics for later. Which may never happen because people use to do less stuff the older they get. More fearful, more cautious, just old in the head. Maybe it's already too late to learn a backflip. Anabolics tho? Hormone replacement therapy? Why not?
To survive to old age, to tinker to his heart’s delight, and experience pure unbridled joy, is dope as hell and experienced by far too few. Old guys rule!
But that's his thing! I dont know if itd be the same. Guy is the greatest loonie I know (And if you're reading this Sir I mean that with the most respect possible). It just adds how crazy awesome he is
But they would not link back. Legend has it, they still roam youtube in search of the fabled free bird rocket man. Will they succeed before another takes the mantle and links back? We shall see.
Godspeed, you crazy bastard; I hope to one day enjoy life as much as you do 😀 Also - that red hue on the ground around the kart when its going is insane!
Failure looks to be in the welds to the brackets holding up the tail-end of the pipes. They just received more heat than planned from the hot propane mix. At 1:18 you can see the lower pipe has separated from it's mount but, the top pipe still holding strong until 1:59 when you can just barely see it start to slowly fall. Then Robert Notices at 2:49 LETS GOOOO
I think It would be good to add some sort of coolling system (like those little tubes with a sort of very cold liquid that goes around Rocket thrusters) on the engine ir at least on the parts more prone to melting. I would be happy to get a second opinionon that for i don't know crap abput pulse engines (Sorry for bad english or vulgar language, i used to use Google translate on the Google keyboard but somehow they made the AI worse in the last update).
Sir, you are an inspiration. Every kid with a science kit dreams of doing this, and you've proved it's possible. May your road be long and smooth, and may your rockets always burn bright!
i love how happy he looks in the video even though he is old he is also not wasting his time or something like in the house all day and instead he is having fun with his life and doing everything he loves while he still got the time to do it love ya rocketman :D
that was insane. the helmet he was wearing can be easily purchased here in Asia for motorcyclist at a very affordable price ($30-40). While it's a thrill watching Crazy Rocketman speed through with minimal protection, I can't imagine if he accidentally flipped and burnt by those ember exhausts. Loved the experimental spirit !
There is a rich history in the Military of TTD - 'Testing To Destruction' - the most effective way to find the true limitations of a new piece of kit! Absolutely inspirational as always - thanks so much!
Too fkin awesome dude. Wish I could find wise ones like you to do these kinds of projects with. I’m sure a lot of us are tinkering in solitude majority the time...am I right? But dang, such a beautiful encapsulation of enjoyment through engineering and life’s journey. Needed some of that “out of this world” exceptional inspiration lately, thank you for that.
you just have to get caught up in Roberts enthusiasm and the fun he has building these things and blasting them around. great work Robert, thanks for sharing your passion!!
@@bsod4144 Haze from air pollution darkens the sun to a yellow or orange colour. Places with low air pollution and a lack of dust or smoke have a crisp white sun (middle of the ocean, remote tundra, desert with no wind, etc).
holy crap! i've never seen a self starting pulse jet that runs so reliably! usually its people fussing with the mixtures for a good while before it will stay on. love seeing these things run to failure
Thanks for all you do for those of us stuck at the office all day! Keep up the great videos and stay safe! We wanna see you doing this for a very long time!
@@ibnewton8951 true, maybe he doesn't know how to see his comments or something. He seems like a nice guy, he wouldn't leave a brother hanging.. hopefully i'm not wrong.
Failure diagnostics: 1:55 all four exhaust tubes are visible. 2:01 you can see the back exhaust tube slowly falling. The heat didn't melt the steel tubes, it just made them so hot that they entered the superplastic or ductile area, just like when forging steel. Given their length, weight and vibrations, it's no wonder they bent down like hot candy! It 'only' took them nearly two minutes to collapse and you kept driving with them bent almost longer than when they were straight! Ahahahha epic! Ignorance is bliss! A simple support frane or a suspension cable would hold them up next time- minimum effort for maximum efficiency :) Excellent video!
Now I know where those pulsejet combustion chambers in my dad's scrap pile came from. Hard to mistake that double design. I think I've seen you around town, hauling your jet cart on a trailer. In fact, those may be the exact pieces of stainless I found in my dad's scarp pile the other week.
1. Engine is red hot ✅ 2. Nice style ✅ 3. No seatbelt ✅ 4. Steering with one hand ✅ 5. Holding camera on the second without losing it ✅ 6. Switching camera to other side ✅ 7. Risk of severe burn ✅ 8. Constant turns without falling ✅ 9. Tires survived the heat ✅ Yeah that wouldn't be me
At about 2.5 into the video you can see the right two pipes get too hot, a few spark from the mount. And he still continued to drive it. Yes, to be old and still keep yourself alive to tinker. Way before the internet or cell phone, even microwaves we build and mixed our own rocket motors. It took years to come up with a reliable rocket motor. It's fun, it's life. I'm at the age where I can't do most of what I used to, but seeing this old guy still tinkering all those crazy things we did come back to me...old dudes rule !!!
That moment when the ethereal sounds burst from the pipes and he is working some controls like an EDM magician before I presume he is about to blast off in his self created sci-fi vehical is low-key better than any movie I've seen in years
I genuinely love this man. I'm sat here right now just laughing at the shear audacity this man had to just go out and live life with nothing stopping him . All so can we all admire the engineering here
Never gets old….inspiring, but can’t help but wonder how nobody has been able to convince him he is far better of with a tight fitting fire prof suit and cover for that magnificent ((ly flammable)) beard….ear plugs wouldn’t hurt. This dude is amazing!
Rocketman, I really enjoy your work and especially your enthusiasm. It's good to see someone enjoying what they do and you certainly have fun on every run. Sorry you lost a motor but I'm sure you already have plans for a new one. Ride safe.
