Generally speaking, if you see a fairly normal looking car, with a slightly lumpy idle, that appears to have had half the rear floor pan removed to make inboard room for 305/30ZR20 rubber, you're probably going to lose.

The farm truck is running a stupid stupid amount on nitrous. It's made to go fast for 6 seconds at a time, not saying it's not impressive, but the huracan is a purpose built machine, for the track. It's not a straight line car by any means

drag race is all about power/weight and traction. It has very little to do what the brand of the car is. You can strap a 8 liter v10 with a supercharger to a wheelbarrow and it will be good at drag-racing.

In the 60's my brothers put the engine that won E gas winternationals at Pomona drags into a 1948 crossley panel. It eas barely longer than a wheel barrow. The motor twisted the frame so much that my brother couldn'y grab 3rd gear. After 2 tries he just shifted to 4th n went across the line. It was a 10 second pass at 148 mph

This reminds me of the time I was hanging around with my mechanic buddy. We were in his V70 T5 that had been remapped to have over 500bhp and a short range gearbox that made it top out at 135mph. We were just in the slow lane on the motor way and an Audi RS3 and Golf R were coming up behind us in the other 2 lanes clearly egging each other on to race. Then they go flying past us so my mate dropped a gear. It was glorious doing a big fat Smokey wheel spin all the way up to 120mph passed them. Never seen a guy driving a fast car look so embarrassed before or since lmao.

With the Lambo’s or Ferrari’s you could potentially drive across the country, but with the super tuned normals, you’d be lucky to reach the next town without a catastrophic failure.

Idk about that. When i used to track my Subaru, the "super tuned" Normals had heavily modified engines for reliability with forged internals, upgraded engine and transmission cooling, drive train modifications, and suspension modifications to put the power down. Reliability mods and ECU tuning were just as important as power mods since we raced on circuits. Out of all the track days I raced, I only saw one failure and which I think was a head gasket failure on a corvette. It was usually the street racers who would go turbo or turn up the turbo on stock internals.

@@BFBMTb track builds and drag builds are completely different bro. Drag cars aren’t meant for duration so he is right most drag cars wouldn’t last a couple miles of driving. Track cars on the other hand are meant for performance and duration so you know they can do multiple laps and finish a race. So of course the cars you saw at a track lasted while performing because that’s what they’re meant to do.

If you're tuning your engine and can only do that once before blowing up your engine.... All that means is that you're tuning your engine wrong. An engine tuned correctly will do it every single time, over and over again.

@@raeishimura That’s just fantasy. I mean yes, a great tune will reduce the risk of engine saying goodbye. But the risk is still high. And while those expensive cars can do it over, and over, and over again. That tuned car just won’t be able to. And even if the engine doesn’t destroy itself, something will go wrong. That’s not to say don’t tune, But you just putting your car at risk. You can’t compare a great tuner to engineers with budgets in the millions for their R&D.

Years ago, back in the late 80’s, when I use to occasionally street race, and my 1983 GMC S-15 sleeper drag truck was running and not in storage, I smoked a man driving an HO V8 Mustang in Gainesville, GA, while going to visit my brother in Atlanta. At the time, we decided to go from one traffic light to another traffic light outside of the city limits. My Buick GN Prototype engine was operating with an Elderbrock Water/Alcohol injection with 20 pounds of boost from my Garret Turbo with no detonation. I also had a gallon or two of Turbo Blue racing gasoline in my gas tank. I beat him by around 15 car lengths, and I wasn’t even trying. He said, “what the hell do you have underneath that hood?” With a smile, I said, “I have the Buick V6 GN Prototype engine underneath!” He said, “You have a sleeper!” I replied, “I know that, and want to keep it that way!” Looking back, that was a fun and memorable day traveling to Atlanta from Tennessee!
