Totally forgot to mention in the video that instagram has a 60 second time limit for video posts!! A quick trick, move the playhead to the 60 second mark on the timeline and then hit M on your keyboard to create a marker. It gives you a nice little marker on the timeline to remind you of where your limit is 🙂👍
If you have more than 60 sec. video and try to throw it up on Instagram, and you have the right format as you do here, you come to question one by uploading around a larger video upload also called IGTV. There are no limits to length ... I think :)
You said at the end it can be uploaded straight to Instagram, aren't you meant to be transferring to the phone first before doing that? I didn't even know you can upload straight to Instagram am I missing something here?
you also forgot to mention that max bitrate for Instagram is 3500 kb/s... The point is to avoid Instagram algorithm aggressive compression therefore you should not exceed max bit rate while rendering. That allows to keep best possible quality of your video after uploading on the platform.
At 1:04 you call 1080p standard resolution. Technically its HD. I remember when that was a big deal. Lol even 4k is becoming standard. Whens the last time anybody watched something in 480p. Again, I remember when 480i was an upgrade. Lol just my 2 cents.
Hey Alex! Great video, just a quick recommendation, you've been using the notepad In your thumbnails lately, but I think you should put it on the bottom left instead as the bottom right is covered by the time stamp (it's mostly coveted on the "videos" section on mobile"
super helpful but when I upload to IG the quality is significantly compromised. no matter how many different peoples advice I take on the best way to export..it doesn't matter. im starting to feel like being able to shoot in 4k is pointless rn. so aggravating.
Shooting in 4k is good when uploading to RU-vid. It's also nice for wiggle room when doing something like a pan crop, so you cab punch in without lowering the final export resolution.
That was great as our main social is RU-vid but trying to get more people on insta then move over to RU-vid hopefully. So wanted to know how to do this without spending hours changing over.
Great tutorial! Can you do one about Instagram story videos please? I'd be interested in recommendations for how much space you leave between text and borders. My texts sometimes get cropped on some displays.
Hey @MrAlexTech, this is a great video! However when i make a new timeline or even try duplicating it from an existing project, it doesn't transfer the fairlight eq effects that were made. There are NO changes in the audio and it merely transfers the clip. Any thoughts would help!
at 5:46 you say jump to the deliver tab but you don't say how to get there. You're just magically there. How do I get to that point b/c that's all I have left to do but I can't get to where you are to follow those instructions.
Thanks! I do it this so infrequently that I completely forget when it's time to make another video. I'm saving this as my go-to reference now. You make it so easy!
But what if I already have edited a video for RU-vid in 1920x1080p50fps. I don't want to start a brand new project just to do a 60 second clip for Instagram. The Render settings don't have a square format or any way to make a 1080x1080 video. Any other method in my current project? Or would I have to start a new project with my already rendered 1080p50 RU-vid video and import with the setting as in your video? Thanks.
If you use Linux, you're out of luck. It does not support exporting AAC audio (for both free and Studio version). It has to do with some licensing stuff, which prevents them from using the AAC codec. What I ended up doing is exporting it and then converting it with Handbrake. If you don't have AAC audio, it won't upload to Instagram.
Hi Alex, I love your videos & I am stuck in having a transparent render using DaVinci. How can I take transparent render? Anyone who can help please leave a comment. I used all png's on the timeline but when rendered it is having a black background automatically. How to get rid of this black background?
Hi Alex great tutorial 👍 could you please do a 2023 update on this with all the different video options Instagram has nowadays 😊 keep up the good work 👌
Yes, useful info for posts. I've made several videos for Instagram and actually didn't know the auto-scaling setting was there. Just saved me a bunch of time! Thank you! I might add that for IGTV stick to 1920x1080 or 1080x1920. And for Reels it's 1080x1920.
this was so helpful up until the VERY end. after I "render all" where does the file go and how do i get it to download to my phone??? haha thanks for the help regardless though
If all my imported media is 25 FPS and I want to export in 30 FPS, Should I match project settings to FPS of the original media or I can set it to 30 as I want?
Hi man I found your video quite good but I still have a problem. When I upload my video to Instagram the quality still drops and the brightness gets turned up. I dont know what causes this.
i did everything like u said and thanks btw was very helpful! .. but i still can't upload the video on IG and I don't know why.. can anybody help maybe?
This is really useful... is there a way to setup a template so you dont have to remember the different resolutions and could you access those templates within an already open project on a new timeline? If so, it would be good to know what other recommended social media resolutions are (snapchat, twitter, TikTok etc)
One thing I learned early on is that IG doesn't love the same rendered settings as RU-vid! Your instructions here will help avoid the troubleshooting and frustration I had learning that
hey Alex, not sure if you will see my comment or not. I just want to thank you for your amazing tutorials. They are very simple, helpful, and short to the point! Cheers!
How do you transfer the footage from pc to iphone as I have done this method and then used simple transfer to transfer them across and it puts a strange filter over the top I’m not sure what the problem is but wondered if you could help me out
Can someone help i recorded a video on my iphone with the slow mo feature edited it in davinci resolve and followed this guide so it fits the screen and everything ,i have then uploaded it google drive also downloaded the app so i can get it but when i get it in google drive the quality is so bad i dont know what i am doing wrong ?
Thanks for another very useful video 👌. As usual your presentation is very clear and you are never in a hurry! I have one question - can we add a clickable link on our videos?
HI Alex! Just wanted to drop you a quick compliment. I LOVE your channel. If I need tips on Davinci, I almost hate to look elsewhere. If you dont have a video on the subject Im after, I just want to skip it!! You have helped me immeasurably. The way you teach is just the right pace and your presentation is friendly and enjoyable. You are really good. Thank you!.
Thanks a lot for the useful video :) I wanted to promote my baking channel in Instagram and I was looking for a good tip to adjust my RU-vid footage. Great tips :)
hiya, i love these videos as they have taught me loads from scratch. I have a question. I've just had my pc fixed and Davinci will no longer play video in the timeline smoothly no mater what I change (I have a gaming pc). I Uninstalled and re installed davinci, but the same happens as all my projects were still there, so I don't think it was a clean install. Is there a setting to completely reset DaVinci to it's base installation settings?? thanks in advance
I tried with your settings several times and I can play perfectly on the computer, but once the video reach the phone (iphone 12 pro) the video freezes and it can´t be uploaded. The phone itelf freezes and it restarts.... wacky!
Good stuff! One question for a Landscape video in order to avoid Instagram compression it is not better to export in 1080x608 instead of 1920x1080? The upload is not for IGTV just a regular 30s post directly to the IG profile. Thanks!
Great Video..subscribed! One question though, i used these settings and the video lost some quality after loading to IG and looked a bit flat. I used 10000kbps and saw online that IG recommends 3500kbps. Thoughts on using 3500kbps or stick with 8k-10k?
Great video... really enjoying your channel. When I uploaded my video to Instagram the first split second looks good and then it gets washed out, almost like a white overlay was placed on top. Any ideas what might be happening?
Hey Alex, Thank You for that tutorial! If i render it like you, and put it on my iPhone X I can't play it. I only hear the sound but the Picture is Frozen.I tried to restrict the quality too but same problem.
