In this video, we'll walk through creating a freebie in Canva, set up a landing page for visitors to opt in, connect it to your newsletter and deliver it in a welcome email.
I'm using Squarespace Email Campaigns in this video but I do have another training on email marketing if you are using a third party email provider.

This is great tutorial, just exactly what I'm looking for. But I'm having trouble with the learning curve on Canva and I don't know it well enough to figure out on my own how to create these documents. I'd love to download your template to follow along with this video, but the link no longer works. Is there somewhere we can still get the template? Hi Chloe! This tutorial was so helpful and straightforward!!! Thank you for sharing. I was wondering if it's possible to use Squarespace to create your Landing and Thank you pages as you've demonstrated, but to use Mailerlite instead of Squarespace to run the email campaign part? My subscriber list is small but growing and I can't justify paying for Squarespace Email Campaigns just yet. I also won't be running more than 3 campaigns a month. Mailerlite is free for email campaigns under 1000 subscribers. Is there a work around you can suggest?

Hi Imogen, Yes, absolutely! What you would do is create the landing page in Squarespace. You can then create an embedded form in Mailerlite. When you create the form in Mailerlite, go to the Settings tab (Next to Design) > Custom Success Page You'll see a box appear where you can add your Redirect URL. This is where you would add your custom thank you page. Hope this helps! Great question and thank you so much for being a loyal subscriber. I appreciate you! :)

This is amazing, thank you so much! In the Link Editor, if I upload my file on the thank you page, rather than inserting a link to the freebie using web address, will they still get the freebie in their inbox?

Hi Gloria, you can do this but you would still have to set up the email sequence to send the freebie.

Hi Chloe, this was really helpful but I am a little stumped about something. The lead magnet/freebie pages are not linked right? So therefore how does someone get to that page on the website. Do you need to create a pop up or something?

Hi Brooke, Great question! There's a couple of ways you can do this. 1. Create an unlinked freebie sign up page and use the button in your header to link to that page. 2. Add the freebie page to your main navigation 3. You can add a newsletter sign up to any page and it will ask you what list this will add people to. You pick the freebie email list. 4. You can link your announcement bar to your freebies page. 5. You can add a pop-up by going to Marketing on your main navigation. Under storage, you’ll be able to connect to the right email list in Squarespace campaigns OR connect to Zapier/Mailchimp and set it up that way. I hope that clears up any confusion. I just found your page when I searched how to do this exact thing (but with multiple lead magnets grouped together). I will be watching all your content because I learned A Lot!! Question: when you have multiple lead magnets, how should I set up the page so that when someone gives their email they can access all the free downloads? I want to avoid getting repeat emails. I have considered rotating the lead magnet but mine are short (checklists type). However, I like the idea of a bank of free downloads to offer email subscribers. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi Susan, Thank you so much. Love that idea! There's two ways you can do this, you could set up a password-protected page where you store all freebies and link to it in your welcome email. You would just share the password in the email too. Alternatively, link to all the freebies in your welcome sequence. Hi Chloe, thank you for all the helpful info. Quick question, how can I make sure that someone who signs up for my freebies or buys my services/products ALSO become a part of my regular subscriber list? For example, I have a welcome email sequence for my default Subscribe mailing list (in my footer). But I also have a freebie attached with another mailing list. I'm just confused at how other sign ups on my website (from freebies, products, services) automatically also become a part of my regular "Subscribed" mailing list. Been trying to figure this out and need your help! Thank you!

Hi Yvette, Such a great question. Part One: Adding new buyers to your email list Go to Commerce → Checkout → Add subscribers to email list → Choose your preferred email list Part Two: Sending emails to regular subscribed email list When you go to send an email, you can choose Automation or Blast. Automation is for freebies. Blast is your regular email campaigns. Select Blast. Once you’ve designed your email, select the Email tab, scroll down until you see ‘To & From’ then click ‘Unique Recipients’. Here you will have the option to send to All Subscribers or a selected list/segment etc. I hope that helps. I loved following this video! But when I get to the end to "Activate" it then says upgrade to at least the $10 a month plan, which is an add on on my already paid squarespace domain fee. Another $120 a year is quite frustrating! Squarespace really is quite expensive for everything. :(

Yes. If you are using Squarespace email campaigns, you would set it up with the trigger 'when a customer purchases' then select the product/products. :)

So they can hit access now AND it will be emailed to them?

You can choose. It's sometimes better to email only as it means they have to go through the process of confirming their email to access it. This is a good thing because now they are on your list. If they hit access now and don't confirm, they may forget to come back and do so.

Can you only have one auto lead magnet for Squarespace? Seems like only one auto email per subscription confirmation... I want a different freebie per newsletter block... is that possible?
