Its great to understanding a technology and things around it (what is it, how to use it, why to use it, and others thinking behind it). It helps me to see things from all different perspectives. It helps me to connected the theories around it(in one place). Also it help me a lot the repeating and emphasizing some part, so i know that they are the important points. Thanks.
its awesome stuff ; remember!! he is showing quite clever stuff and this is a great learning resource. And, those people who can not understand this do not thumb down!! thanks
@TheDroidmaniac Install the FileZilla client on the computer you installed the server software on. Then try to connect to the Server by using 127.0.0.1 as the FTP Server address. If you can connect to the FTP server then you know you are having networking issues. If you can;t connect then you may have not setup the FTP user corrrectly.
I think it's great you're putting videos up about this kind of stuff. You're good at describing things and demonstrating how they work. To bad I already knew this, because I would've liked to learn it from you... ;)
all the tutorials don't want to show you anything other than local access because its hard to configure and not the same for each installation - when you introduce firewalls there are too many variables for them to have to explain
When I install it says I am behind a NAT router and need passive mode. I know what NAT/PAT is but if I'm using p/w why would it matter? Second, with ftp:// in addressing instead of 127.0.0.1 it seems to work, but not w/o firewall off. So, 2 questions: 1. Is there a better way to get through NAT RTR besides passive mode? 2. When I enter my ddns address, it goes to my router 192.168.x.1. My pc is .200. How can I point to ftp from ddns? I have issue getting to ZILLA from outside? x.ddns.net:21 doesnt work. ftp://x.ddns.net works only inside.
If I am connecting from the outside world I cannot use the internal address or the loopback address, so how do I access from the outside? There are no instructions for this.
If you want one of your people to connect to your FTP Server, just port forward your router from (Default Router IP) or go to command prompt and type ipconfig and copy your default gateway. Turning off you're firewall is risky, because hackers can kill your computer or network, some parts may be risky on port forwarding.
i have filezila server installed on my desktop on my home network but when i click the icon to start the filezila server i get this message in red "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router. Warning: FTP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in." any ideas how i can address this issue???
+Joe Watson What exactly is your problem? I get the same thing to. I had to go into my router settings and setup port forwarding on port 21 to be addressed to my computer running filezilla server. I don't have it set to use TLS right now. It'll still work without TLS. If you have important documents on your ftp server it's not recommended to do this.
no sir i never did get it to work i just eventually gave up and installed xaamp instead. But if you can help i would sure be grateful to you. I am about to loose my mind trying to deal with setting up Filezilla server on windows 7. I keep getting this warning "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router. Warning: FTP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in.". II have made certain that the firewall and UAC are both disabled, and i am not running any other type of antivirus on this machine. I have watched the few video tutorials on you-tube that i could find but not a single one of them resolves the problem any help you might offer would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem. After forwarding the port to this: 1. open filezilla interface and connect to your server 2. go to Edit->Settings 3. click FTP over TLS settings (left side of window) 4. check Enable FTP over TLS support (FTPS) 5. click Generate new certificate 6. select bit size, enter 2 char country code, enter a file name at the bottom 7. click Generate Certificate 8. click OK
I get the error "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router. Warning: FTP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in." It doesn't have a router that I know of. It uses a simcard.
TWO QUERIES = 1- Installed FZ server and FZ client on same MAIN pc. When connecting (using host 127.0.0.1) I see the folder I've assigned to each user set up originally on FZ server. However, if I go to ANOTHER pc in the SAME house, WHY can't I connect to server or see files in FZ client. How could this be networking issues? 2- Do you have a video to demonstrate how to do "PORT FORWARDING" if you are trying to access your folder setup on ftp server, from OUTSIDE WORLD plse? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
here the client puts 127.0.01 because he is on same PC. what should he put if the client program is in another part of country? how can we get that ip address?
Nice tutorial and filezilla is easy to use, but I am having a problem with network folders on a different computer. I have tried two methods. Linking straight to the network folder and nothing shows up when you log in, and I have tried mapping the drive. Then the folder shows up, but nothing is inside it. I wonder if you will do a tutorial on network drives with filezilla
Ok, so I got the client on my server computer to make sure i had set up the server right, but when i check to see if i can connect another computer it says it cant connect, please help.
hey , i cannot access my ftp server from any other computer ..........i even turned off my firewall and i do not have any antivirus software installed on my pc .is there anything else i should do to access my ftp server form a different computer ..????
Eli is great, there is no getting around the investment of time, knowledge without information, having no context, is worthless. Now, If I could only figure out how to add SSH Public Keys to Windows 7. I'm not a rocket surgeon, but these brute force attacks out of India, Uzbekistan, Japan, etc, etc, etc is getting old.
In fact, this whole video is rather painful if you are already an IT pro. You may want to look somewhere else; this is definitely for beginners (the teacher, as good as he is, speaks very slowly as if you may not even understand English, at times). Best of luck.
Big drawback with FileZilla: No automation. Automation is a big part of the work place and it really surprises me that Filezilla makes it clear they do not and have no plans to setup or support scheduling and automation. Bummer... but took me awhile to figure that out, figured I would save anyone else looking for an automated solution the time and effort it took me to figure this out.
I would love to see a tutorial on how to set up a local wamp server that i can access from other computers on my home network. Most of the tutorials show how to access the wamp server from out side of the local network but no one shows anything about how to access the server from other computers on the same network???
Hi Eli the Computer Guy , i am from Romania , and i watched your videos with quite a joy and i can tell that there was very usefull for me , Congrats, but , will you make a video with windows server 2012 ftp server ?
Hi Computer Wiz! Please help me with the same issue. I have installed FZ both server and client versions on my laptop and have no issues transferring files between the two but the problem is connecting from outside my LAN. I tried ftp://my external ip:21 still no luck PLEASE HELP!!!
Been attempting to minimize the user privilege running a Filezilla Server in Server 2008 R2 eniviroment (the machine running filezilla server is a win7 pro machine). What is the minimum user rights for the Filezilla server to run properly on a domain network ? Btw love all your videos and have shared your videos with close friends and will keep on doing that if i like the material.

can you do a video or explain how do i access through the web browser using a host name if i got a trial at dyndns.org"? my hostname would be for eg: example.dyndns.org. How do i use this to access the files for test purposes through the browse the filezilla server AND client is currently on? PLLLLZ help.
Oh, come on, people.. It depends on user's current level of knowledge. Perhaps, not everyone on the RU-vid is altered by mr Robot:) I can imagine people are coming here with no/vestigial traces of information. OR🤔 someone's grandma has noticed some paranormal activity amongst the background processes and decided to drop in😁 Some other ones could think people using FileZilla are pretty basic, because they do not know the power of Cobian/Bacula or anything more advanced..
