This was great! I set up my own FTP server and did one for a friend, too. I like how thorough this video was. Following along with this has saved me from countless bugs that would have had to been fixed if I didn't think to manually change things in the firewall, for example. Most of the setup videos on youtube only tell you the bare minimum to set something up and they don't even include all the details to avoid headaches along the way. I got my FTP server working on the first try with no issues. Thanks again.
I want to thank you for this very informative video. I had attempted to set up my FTP server using a written guide, but failed (that guide glossed over the 'creating an FTP user' step). With the guidance of this video, I had my server up and running, accessible by myself and my friends on other networks, in about 20 minutes. So thank you again.
I missed the steps for local windows user and directory permissions and was stuck, thanks to your step by step video it worked perfectly fine. Great job. Thanks a lot.
I follow your video and the ftp works great with my dlink camera. I tried several ftp programs and couldn't get any of them to work. thanks, keep up the good work!
Great video. Very clear. It was exactly what I was looking for to access my IP camera records. One part is missing. I had to go to Windows Firewall, Inbound rules and Enable "FTP Server Traffic in" and "FTP Passive", then go to Outbound Rules and enable "FTP Traffic Out" and "FTP Server Secure" When you first open either of these directories you need to just click anywhere on the page or you don't see the FTP settings. Got this tip from another video.
Hello Miguel. I only get connection with LAN not getting connection with WAN. Router was configured as you said. Very clear the way you explain. Now i found the problem, it works like a charm! THANKS MIGUEL
Thanks a lot. Much easier and clear instructions and presentation. Was able to access it over the internet by configuring Virtual Server in my TP link router.
thank you so much, man! finally solved the storage i was having on my macbook, now i can finally transfer files from my macbook over the network to my PC which has a lot more storage!
Great video man! Has been trying access my Windows 10 folders from my Android tablet in various ways. Decided to go for FTP. It was a nightmare to try yourself. This video helped alot! But! In the firewall I had to add the service "svchost.exe" (Host process for ISS) also. To get it to work with firewall enabled. And suddenly it does work! (with "private" on the firewall on both services). Great! Now I can watch movies again :)
Hi Miguel, Your tuto is fantastic and I thank you so much for the quality of your presentation and very clear explanations. You can be proude of your video ! With all my thanks! Eddy
Super great video, everything is made clear! I subscribe immediately. One more thing that made me laugh: the username being blurred to have next window "Hi admin" ahah
Extremely useful video, one of the best I have seen om RU-vid. Unfortunately it did not work for me to access my FTP-server from the outside. Struggled with this for two days until I disabled the firewall in the router and also disabled Windows firewall. Then it worked like clockwork :) A question: Say I want a friend to access his own folder on my FTP-server. Do I just set up him as another user in the same way you set up 'Miguel' ??
Thank you! Great instructional video. Detailed, descriptive, step-by-step and an excellent training pace. One question, after I set mine up, when I put the ftp url, I only the welcome to IIS page. Did I do something wrong, or does it have to do with different versions of win10 or IIS? Lastly, can you please tell me what software you used to video record the monitor?
I am so happy that I finally created a FTP server of my own. Thanks to this video by AvoidErrors. My FTP server works perfectly fine across all my devices on my local network. But I need one more feature. Can I access my FTP server from the internet? Please somebody tell me.....
After completing everything, it still wasn't opening in another system because firewall was blocking public networks. This video clears that.... Thanks.
