thank you sososossoso much it took me so many hours trying to resolve this. Im a newbie to 3d stuff and just wanted to make my own vr avatar.. you saved me so much headache.. heres a subscribe dude
Hey there, I've actually got an interesting problem that I haven''t seen covered yet where multiple materials use the same texture and when combined it copies and repeats the texture image into the atlas for each material, I'm not sure if there's a way to avoid this, but putting the texture image that worked originally now longer fits it properly and I'm not really sure what I need to do to fix this problem. (I'm learning Blender, so help would be appreciated)
1:09 - you can put the textures with transparency on layer 2 and then its seperated. Also there is not a really easy way that i'd know of to make it properly cover all the spaces - would need to atlas it manually to do that
In this video i was using Blender 3.4.1, but usually i work with Blender 2.92. It really doesn't matter and should be basically the same as long as it is above 2.8. Most of the assets that i've used originally were from MMD, so format .pmx. But once its in Blender it doesnt really matter, its just mesh data n stuff.
hello and I got a problem about this plugin When I click "save atlas to...", the program select every material automatically, all of the materials will combine at one time I am using blender 3.3.0 by the way
Ok now this is great and all, aside from making the textures a lower resolution when it comes to detail, but, how about the other textures, like normals, srma textures, roughness, how does this combine all those as well? Because it resizes every texture in itself as well, so do we have to make all those other textures ourselves?
Just so that I understand, the body is only one mesh, and you added 5 different materials to this mesh? Is it also possible if I have different meshes with each it's own material? Oh, maybe if I Join those meshes together, I would have one mesh with different textures, right?! and then I could make a texture atlas. But what to do with the UV mapping? Don't they get overlap by each other?
Well I just dowloaded it, and now I see I have the same thing as in the video above. The only thing I don't know is it really helps me with my probleem..... I had this idea that atlas texture should help reduce the size of my file in MB. But if I join 3 meshes with the 3 different textures together, and make an atlas texture, it's bigger than my 3 texture separated. I already was able to bring back my 3 textures to 100KB each. Joining them together in an atlas texture makes it 2MB....
Does this thing seem really buggy? Now it just changes everything to a single material so that everything looks the same, I have no idea why. Changing the material type fixed it for whatever reason. However in Unity the first try looks all washed out and this second try clearly has textures of certain material slots. This really isn't reliable and I think I'll just unwrap the whole mash and draw the texture myself since it's easy for this model.
