Creating an "Impossible" Paper Mario Cartridge 

Hey guys, I've been seeing a lot of comments here since I have not been active on RU-vid lately and wanted to communicate that I am working on a new series. I'll provide a more detailed update as to why I've been gone at the beginning of next video, but here's the short version: - I'm recovering from tendinitis in my right wrist / forearm, which has prevented me from performing the difficult execution / repeat motions required to show off glitches (for example, LZS really hurts lol) - Just finished out a very time consuming semester a few weeks ago - I've been visiting my gf - Needed a mental health break from social media I don't have an estimate for when the new videos will be up, but I have been working on them actively for a while. It is still Paper Mario content, but is a slightly different direction from the standalone glitch videos I've been doing for the past few years. The "typical" glitch videos will resume when I'm more comfortable with the condition of my wrist. Even still, I'm very excited to share what's coming up! Just want to clear up some confusion since I see some rumors going around. Thank you for being patient with me through all of this, I couldn't ask for a better community supporting my videos :)

Idea: Create a "Pro Only" Paper Mario cartridge by utilizing glitches that make sure the player is stuck, unless they have incredible knowledge of the game and can perform some high-level glitches.

Now you just need a glitch to make it impossible to delete save files.

on another different but similar topic i did create an impossible ff7 file i saved the game in the mako reactor when the timer was 0:00 so when you start the game, instant game over 😂😂😂😂😂

Not really sure why I'm writing this (probably early morning idiocy), but I were really inspired by this video to write it: ----- I were going through this old abandoned house. There weren't a lot of interesting things there to find, but the cellar... it had an ominous feel to it. The door to the cellar, it had this strange note that read "MISFORTUNE SHALL REACH WHO ENTERS". "That's not ominous at all", I thought. I decided to open the door, despite the note's odd warning. Nothing seemed off at the staircase, so I went down them. "Just old dusty books? That's disappointing", I said to myself, before I saw a glowing door. That door... it was the source of the ominous feel. It strengthened as I approached. ... I opened the glowing door to find a completely white corridor. No visible seams, just pure white. Seeing as I've gone this far, I might as well go and find out what lies beyond. As I walk through the corridor, I hear something slam shut. I turned around to see that the door had closed itself. "Eh, it was probably the wind", that's what I said proceeding to go through the corridor. I find myself at a dead end as I bump into the wall. ... Suddenly, a small opening appears where I bumped into. "This is it, the mystery is about to be revealed!", I exclaimed before going in. To my surprise, there was an old N64 and a cartridge that was labeled "SAVE PEACH AND BE FREE". I put the cartridge in the console and turn it on. Turns out the game was Paper Mario, my favorite game of the era. Eager to see what these puzzles were, I were startled by the file select screen. The four files formed the sentence "Good Luck Saving Peach". ... I began with the first file, "Good". I found myself in Bowser's Castle, at the basement. "Alright, this doesn't seem so difficult", I thought as I went through the rooms with relative ease, before reaching a dead end. I opened the partner menu to switch to Lakilester, only to realize he wasn't there. "Oh. Well, let's try another file", I said disappointed. File 2, "Luck". This one was also saved at Bowser's Castle. This time though, I'm at one of the mid-points past a Bowser door. I decide to head forward. I'm at the room with the water puzzle. It's flooded, though. I seem to be unable to solve the puzzle, since there's an invisible wall. I decide to quit early and go to the next file. File 3, "Saving". I find myself again at Bowser's Castle, at a locked door. I start looking for the key. Nothing bad has happened yet. Looks like there's some hope this time. After some puzzles, I find a key. Upon picking it though, the game tells me to toss away something. Confused, I toss away an item. I head back to the locked door. I'm unable to use it, though. Trying to open the door, I open the item menu and find the key there. I try using it. ... Mario took the key and ate it. I reset the console and start the final file, "Peach". The game began in Toad Town. For whatever reason, Goompa is with me. I tried swapping partners, but the game crashes. One restart later, I find out I have to go to Bowser's Castle thanks to the Toads. Before going to Bowser's Castle, I went to the post office. It didn't work either. The mailbag was gone. It wasn't at the Toy Box. I'm only left with going to the castle. So I set out to Star Haven. The path was difficult as Goompa did nothing. ... Eventually I reach Bowser's Castle and traverse it. Somehow, I have managed to survive to the first Bowser door. I get sent the basement. I'm stuck down here. I can't swap partners. There's nothing I can do. ... I decide that I should try removing one of the save files. ... The game didn't let me, though. I'm truly confused. I decide to leave. I turn the console off and enter the corridor again. As I reach the glowing door from before, I find out that it's closed shut and won't open no matter what I do. Nobody can hear me. ... I'm stuck here, with the only way out being starving to death. ----- 1 hour and 40 minutes wasted writing some dumb creepypasta. Am I proud of myself? Probably not. Anyway, I hope you get better soon!

I love the idea of this; but calling it a "puzzle" to begin with implies that there is an answer you can find to escape, no? It seems like rather than creating "puzzles", you're creating "softlocks", or "inescapable traps". But then again, I suppose an "impossible puzzle" would mean "a puzzle that is not solvable"... Which I guess is a paradox, haha.

I just wanted to say that this channel has brought back a forgotten love for paper mario. and I'm dusting off my old cartridge and will be playing it in the weeks to come. Great channel and very interesting and unique content!!! :)

Another way to soft lock the game using Goompa would be to play normally through the first 3 chapters making sure all super blocks get used. Then switch to Goompa right after beating chapter 3. Then the player wouldn’t be able to get into Shy Guys Toy Box to get the mailbag back since you need Bow the first time. Thus the player would be stuck with Goompa and wouldn’t be able to progress any further.

I once programmed a Tic-Tac-Toe game that actually had an impossible difficulty setting. When playing Tic-Tac-Toe, winning is dependent on the opponent making mistakes, making moves that aren't perfect. So, to make it not impossible, I gave the computer a random mistake generator, which makes the computer do a random move instead of a smart one, and for adjusting difficulty, I put it on a scale of 0-100, being 1:1 with the percent chance that the computer will make a smart move, rather than a random one. At difficulty 100, it's impossible for the player to win, with all outcomes being either a loss or a tie.

Yeah, as I'm sure hundreds have already commented, this is more or less just another "create and evil paper mario cartridge", but I love it anyway, keep making these kind of videos, they're very creative and hilarious!
