I used to try all different speaker set ups with my pc for year and years, then I found the T40 II's and I have never even thought about changing since.
I'm a bit of a Creative fan, been buying their speakers from the days of the Cambridge SoundWorks branding till now. I got my T40 II's back in 2013 from a little old lady whose grandson got them bundled in a new PC deal. He had no use for them, put them up for sale and his kind granny met me at the door on his behalf. I wound up getting a 20 quid discount from her as a reward for helping her buy a few items from the shop round the corner. These T40s cost me only 40 quid, new in the box, and are still working fantastic today.
I had a pair of series I T20 speakers and they worked just fine after 10 years of use. I swapped them out for some Logitech Z333s and while I've been happy with the punchier bass, overall I haven't been quite as happy - especially where the treble is concerned. I was amazed to see that the T40 Series II speakers are still being sold brand new today, so I've treated myself to a pair. The design of these speakers is timeless - on the pictures on the box, they look way too modern next to those old style monitors, and even today they fit in perfectly with the modern aesthetic.
The speaker covers are made from acoustically transparent fabric (allows sound to pass through) and the impact of having them on is minimal, they are mainly for protection so you can have them on or off.
@@HardwareHusky then this week I'm off shopping for Corsair PCs:)) It's not enough to have a Corsair keyboard that light up in the dark😁 I like those speakers too, already have Audiovektor speakers, which is my general sound speakers connected also to my pc, but I keep walking into the connection cord once a month😨😭 because my pc is on the opposite side of the room, so the connection swings across the floor from the amplifier to the Audiovektor. And I'm getting tire of that. So Monday I'll be shopping for the Creative Gigaworks T40 and an impressive tower like yours:))).
These dual cone monitors, when used single (obviously the right one that houses the amp) will it output stereo sound? (As in one of the cones functioning as Left channel and the other as right with the Tweeter as center?)
Just bought these and I found out they go into a 'standby' mode after a few minutes, the light around the volume switch goes off and when you play audio it takes a few seconds for them to wake up therefore missing a few seconds of audio.... never experienced this before in speakers.
Yeah is a energy saving feature that can't be disabled my Razer Nommo and Logitech Z333 also do this also. One way that helps (if using a pc) is to add a low frequency sound (below 15Hz as this is beyond your speaker responds range so won't be played) to your mouse click so it keeps them awake while you are using the pc. It's a feature that is required under the ERP (Energy Related Products regulations) so you will find a lot of newer products do this.
@@HardwareHusky Bummer that's so annoying, I thought it was my motherboard on my new PC having issues haha I always blame the mother board until I noticed the blue light going off. Surely they could have implemented something better or a disabling switch..
@@vlad.k22 I always blame the component with a newer version that I want lol. A switch would be ideal or at least an adjustable timer but I've gotten use to it now.
@@HardwareHusky someone suggested to attach a "mouse click sound" to the mouse click that is 15Hz and apparently thats not audible to the human ear but the computer will interpret it as a sound and send it to the speakers so I'm going to try this
@@vlad.k22 I know this is quite old now but did you go through with the “mouse click sound” thing lol? I find it interesting from a problem-solving point of view.
Having subwoofers most of my adult life like in my car and home theatre these are not bad at all being subless 2.0 speakers. I would give these 5.5/10 for bass being punchy and responsive giving a well rounded listening experience. But if you want the room rumbling lows (30hz to 80hz range) these won't be right for you.
@@HardwareHusky Actually I`m looking for much more balanced mids which will behave mostly like sound monitors. I`m thinking of buying one of these for backtracking while I play guitar. It shouldn`t fade out while my guitar amp is screaming. My concern is if it has enough mids in this case.
@@purulence666 I'm not sure if these will be suitable for that as the sound pressure level drop over distance is fairly steep, great when sitting in front of them but not room filling enough. I would look at the Logitech Z623 as these have over double the RMS power per satellite (35w vs 16w) and lower distortion when turned up high.
