@uselessarms6878
@uselessarms6878 Год назад
@@FGSAtlanta Okay then - if that is so, then the government should stop doctors from making their services beyond the realm of affordability. If it is not their duty to take care of the health of its citizens, then it IS by God their duty to set conditions to where the citizens can afford to do it themselves. It IS their job to set regulations and laws in such a way that remove the ability for doctors to charge $50,000 for a set of dentures made of less than $500 in acrylic. You may be right in principle - it IS our responsibility to handle our own health. HOWEVER - if the government is either directly or indirectly responsible for it becoming too expensive to do so, they either need to make up the difference, set a limit, or change the conditions/policies to bring the cost down.

@Felicia Schlafer Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but yours is TOTALLY irrelevant!!! People live separate lives, and therefore should be treated as individuals when addressed. You can't automatically assume that everything you pointed out has anything nor the only bearing of dental issues. Some may have inherent hereditary medical issues, not had the opportunity to afford dental before serious issues arise, extreme fear of the dentist, or never had an issue until it was too late. Whatever the case may be, don't classify anyone with a lack of knowledge. There are way more reasons beyond what your brain can fathom. I can tell you personally for myself, it is none of the reasons that you named.

No one explains how people get financing, they just try to make it sound like you should just WANT to pay $50k full mouth- I need to find an INSURANCE even if it’s expensive, that will cover the majority of at least my top arch estimated around $25k -

Insurance doesn't pay because they claim it to be cosmetic. Teeth are medically necessary because without properly fitting dentures or no teeth at all... we can't eat much, and what solids we try to chew usually gets swallowed whole. Of which, leads to stomach troubles. Most of us stick to softer foods, and liquids which aren't so nutritious. Which leads to malnutrition. Thank goodness for protein shakes that are super expensive. Bad teeth, no teeth ect. leads to embarrassment, that leads to depression, and I'm sure has lead a few to suicide (along with more to it I'm sure), but you get the point. I lost my teeth due to a medical condition called Parathyroid. Which to me seems as though that should be considered by Insurance to not be deemed as cosmetic. This bs is all common sense, and baloney. How about giving us some info that is useful for those of us with low income. I'm a truck driver, and actually make good $. However, I support my mom (70) with agoraphobia, and only receives $420 a month from SS because she worked under the table so she could have more $ to raise me. Also my aunt (75) who is bed ridden. Recently my brother was in a bad car accident, and I inherited some of his bills so he doesn't loose everything. What I had saved for new teeth, $12.000. took a few years, but had to be used during COVID, and some went to my brother so he didn't starve. The price for anything dental is ridiculous, and out of reach for most. I once paid $2300. for a set of dentures I couldn't even wear. The dentist literally told me he gave me an over bite on purpose, and refused to fix them. (Which is why I've had the same ones for 17 years now, and they're very painful. I just refuse to waste $ again) I could barely talk in them, and when I tried...all you could hear is a whistle. With my real teeth, I had a slight under bite so that made it even harder to talk with them. I lost my gorgeous snow white teeth because of Parathyroid. It's a calcium leaching tumor on your thyroid that had gone to long undiagnosed. Resulting in severe irreversible bone loss throughout my body. The first thing it ruined was my teeth, and caused jawbone shrinkage. Then I started breaking & fracturing bones left & right. My spine (vertebrae) started collapsing, and had to have spinal fusion, and bone grafting. Dental work should be a medical necessity, especially for those of us who lost teeth due to a medical condition. Insurance doesn’t pay because they deem it as cosmetic. JERKS

I agree with you! Their profit margin is quite high. I recently went to a dentist who came up with this $20000.00 to replace crowns! I told him he can pay my bills for a year or so and I could pay him. What pisses me off, they go to other countries to fix them up, send you emails, for you to get x amount of some dental work, and from that they donate money to other countries!

The only comfortable way to figure it out is hopefully a oral surgeon has a finance person that can give you options. I have $20,000 I could put down but anything over $35,000 is a no for me. At first the prices turned me off but the whole idea of being put to sleep and waking up to perfect teeth sounds really exciting.

You come up with grandiose ideas which are unachievable for many. If I took out a HELOC, I wouldn't live long enough to pay it off nor can I afford to pay it back. Sell my home, sure but Id pay high rent for a crappy Apartment I cannot afford! Maybe the Dental Pros could take a bit of a loss instead of profiteering so much to make this a feasable option. Lets face it, dental work has skyrocketed and profit marging is very good! Sad!

My son just got told to get the all on 4 is 100,000 dollars to get snap in dentures 30,000 dentures 8,000. If the implants fail he doesn’t get any of the money back and they can fail immediately or 5 years later! The dentists want the money upfront! His car analogy don’t make sense cuz I bought a truck and kept it for 15 years and counting. The interest rates for credit lines via dentists are high interest no matter how good your credit score is.

I have a 770 credit score I financed through the place i got my bottom implants 25000 dollars.They got me a company in Alabama to get an eight year loan at 15 percent interest.I am not happy with that because it cost 470.00 a month as most of my payment goes to interest.I told my dentist that the finance company makes more money off the interest than he makes as he has to pay his staff and rent along with insurance.The original contract was eight percent but left blank on the contract so beware of the finance companies.I think best to take home equity loan as that would work better with payments and can be write off on taxes.

Most of the suggestions here aren't feasible for someone who has two children in college, who's disabled on SSDI and whose teeth are destroyed by Sjogren's syndrome. I've been trying save money for years, but it's too difficult when my monthly income is only $1,100-I've only been able to save $4000! I guess I'm just destined to die from malnutrition and/or secondary infection due to the poor state of my teeth and not being able to afford necessary dental care. 😢 America, you need to do better!

That we literally have to shackle ourselves to debt and stress just to be able to eat normal food and not look like we are junkies, to be able to smile without shame or embarrassment, to not worry whether or not the next bite will be another broken tooth, more pain, more shame? Yeah... I definitely agree. It's like they want us to have the physical ability to smile, but be so stressed paying for it that we don't have the mental capacity for it.

Most implants and dentures are made on a 3D printer. This should have dropped the price, but it only ever increases. Polymethyl methacrylate resin, by the bottle, costs between $50-$365. That means, for less than $500 in material, and a 3D resin printer, WHICH YOU COULD LITERALLY GET FOR HOME AND PRINT YOUR OWN, you could have a new smile. 3rd party labs will 3D print them to be resold by dentists/oral surgeons providing the sets for as little as around $300 per arch - less than $1,000 altogether. So basically - your dentures cost around a grand. The DOCTOR costs you $40,000+. There's no justification for that expense. It is a racket, plain and simple. Either pay this exorbitant cost, or remain depressed, unable to eat a lot of things, have self-esteem issues, be made to feel like people think you're unintelligent or a current/former drug addict (even if you never were), etc. And of course - let's not forget you have to have *dental insurance* because, apparently oral care isn't about *health* so health insurance does nothing...

I want to know how insurance companies are getting away with ripping us off. So do we have insurance or not. Alot of the work we need done is not covered. We shouldnt have to be financing our dental and health care we need if we have insurance. I had a brain tumer and now disable. I do66 not qualify for any EXTRA help they claim to offer.. cuz my SSDI check is over the poverty level. Yet they are taking almost 200 dollar every month for insurance but cant afford the out of pocket fees they charge. THIS is BS. Im looking at $9000 dollars of dental work. My insurance only covers $2500 I got 5 teeth pulled out now they talking crowns, bridge , scalling and planning, root planning. I dont know what all this is and how do I know if they are giving me the treatmeant they claim I need and billed. 8Last I knew theft was a crime. So how do they legaly get away with this. i am so disapointed with our system. 6I was a single parent raised three kids put my self through colege which i still owe now living on a fixed income which they claim is over the poverty limit YET I see people that never worke and receive SSI stamps and apartments and live alot better than us working americans..
