Very cool episode, Liam! At least Universal squeezed a sequel out of this with “Revenge Of The Creature”. This sequel is noteworthy because it contains the screen debut of an unknown actor named Clint Eastwood. Looking forward to your next episode, Liam!

I actually didn't know that was the screen debut of Clint! I'm learning something new myself every day from you guys!

Creature almost feels like it’s own thing. A perfect blend of sci-if/Horror.

I remember seeing it a lot on Turner Classic Movies as a kid, my dad had that channel on all the time 😂

Great video!! Yeah, it's bittersweet knowing that The Creature From the Black Lagoon was the last of Universals' Horrors. I always liked the image of the Gill Man and thought it looked kind of cool. The look of it was created by a woman Millicent Patrick an animator for Disney. Bud Westmore took sole credit of it, Millicent had to wait many years before getting any acknowledgement, which sucks. The atomic age did bring us some great movies though. Godzilla, The Beast from 20,000 Phantoms. A big favorite of mine, a movie which I just finished watching is THEM. A very underrated movie. It actually won an oscar for special effects. There was big talk of Universal bringing back it's monsters. They were going to do Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, etc. Don't know what happened? I know they did The Mummy with Tom Cruise, which bombed at the box office. Maybe that's why. It's a shame. I'd love to see Universal bring them back. If done right, I think people would go to see their favorite monsters come back to the silver screen. Keep up the good work!!

I read online about credit being stolen for the creation of the Gillman costume, it's great that nowadays, the internet had the power to dig these things up and put history right! (Similar to the whole Bill Finger situation!) I need to see more of the 50's monster movies, I have a few on my list! It would be cool to see another wave of monster films come around again, I'm sure that's something that will definitely happen in the future. I'm calling it now, a Universal Monsters line of remakes starting in 2031 for the 100th anniversary! 😂🧛🏻‍♂️

The Creature suit is a magnificent creation for the time in which it was made, and the fact that it enabled a man to swim quite naturalistically whilst wearing it is remarkable.. Such a shame 1987s The Monster Squad movie didn't get the rights to reproduce it - Still their Gill-Man was pretty awesome too. :)

It is certainly something that is under appreciated! I love the design of the Gillman here!

That's why I've made the chapters and time-stamps that you can use if you just want to see that part of the video ☺️ Also, it's all important context and history regarding both Horror and the time in which the film was released.
