make it so stuff can be covered in the decaying land, it would be nice if creeper could reveal extra structures by decaying the land, but it should be enough if there could be a setting to set not only the level to which the land decays, but also the type of special under it, so creeper could at least uncover extra creeper breeder etc
In regards to the scaling of the fractal terrain, is there a way to adjust where it scales from? I noticed it scales from the bottom left corner as the origin. Is there a possibility of adjusting the point which it scales around? So say I wanted to enlarge a certain portion of the fractal image, but it's somewhere in the middle near the right side. Scaling it up would cut that off instead.
I love how many tools you give the community to get creative. Also you take the time you need to make a solid game and don't pressure yourself with release dates and stuff like that. Keep up this amazing work!
I've never seen a game offer such levels of customization for something as minor as terrain textures. This is amazing and I can't wait to see what the community will make with this.
Gotta make it so her face is shattered terrain that will slowly melt away to a skull if you can't win fast enough, what better way to create a mission timer than to present people with the steady destruction of their waifu if they take to long? :D
"Who likes to see a beautiful forest cut down by a wave a creeper?" I've never seen it happen, and I hope I never have to. I think having trees is going to be an interesting addition to gameplay. Losing units in cw1, 2, and 3 was never a major problem because you could just build more. A finite number of trees is a different story. I will try my best to protect them. Keep up the good work! My brother and I love your games! Edit: I just watched the gameplay video and now I have seen a forest hit by a wave of creeper :(
@@SETHthegodofchaos Another great game! I love seeing the huge sprawling industrial complex you have at the end, and remembering how and why each little bit of it was added. Really gives a sense of achievement. Edit: Trees in Factorio != Creeper World trees. I've easily cut down thousands in Factorio
@@darkshard117 Agree. That game gives you an accual sense of pride and accomplishment when looking back at what you have build in past few dozen or hundred hours :D Yeah, Factorio trees = evil, Creeper World trees = cute :P
Fucking fantastic terrain editor and map creation tool. You make other devs look bad in comparison man! You just keeping hitting everything out of the park with CW4
This is progressing nicely! I love how many options there are here With that shattered land, I had a thought (and this might be completely unreasonable to program) What if you could set a heightmap for a set of shattered land, so that even if you have a massive swatch of it you still can have some terrain to fight on rather than a flat field? Its probably too much to be worth it but I just had to put it into words.
@@PrimevalRevenant You could, but that would be rather unwieldy, and wouldnt allow fine details as you have to follow the size of the brush, whereas a heightmap would allow whatever you like, similar to how his picture interpreter would work. Its just a thought, and probably too difficult to code for the result, but I can see custom map makers enjoying the function.
de-tiling is pretty incredible!!! I imagine you wouldn't wanna share how you do it just yet, would you? =) Man, really... *AWESOME* work! Can't wait to start playing it! Fantastic, honestly!!! =)
probably should rename 'flood' filling to 'bucket' filling, (maybe?) 'normals' to 'bumpmapping' and 'de-tiling' to 'normalize'. Not much of a difference, but would be nice. really cool that you can do bumpmapping to a texture so easily too, will help make maps not look so 'lookalike' or flat. Fractal fill is awesome. The menu transition? Even though it isn't done, awesome.
I hate to ask, but how feasible would it be to separate the terrain height number in the corner from the indicator bars it's layered over? I'm sure it looks fine, but my eyesight's going pretty fast and it makes it hard to see the number, especially at height 1 since it's cut in half. Feels pretty selfish to ask since my damaged visual cortex is _my_ problem, but I can't be the only person with bad vision, right?
@EdwardHowton: am sorry to hear about your visual problems. And I'm sure you are not alone in having one or another form of visual impairment. At the very least, as we age, all of us suffer a reduction in visual acuity. the UI can be scaled, and I am wondering if a larger UI will not resolve your problem. If not, I'm sure knucracker would be willing to at least understand your issue better. If I may ask, contact me on the Discord server (discordapp.com/invite/knucklecracker) my handle there is K75. I will show you a scaled UI and you can let me if it resolves anything or if not, what would do the trick. Eg, is it the background, or just the size.
I've tried scaling UIs in games or even increasing font size for text documents. My problem's kind of neat. I'm missing part of my brain, specifically the part that processes visual information slightly to the right and below center of vision. The way I usually put it is: my cameras are fine, they just don't plug into anything. So making things bigger doesn't really help, since the right side of everything I'm looking at is cut off and turned into a blur as my brain interpolates from the surrounding. Everybody has a blind spot where the optic nerve pushes through and connects to the front of the retina; I just have a second, much bigger "hole". In practice, this means I have to read words one letter at a time, because I can't see the next one. I also can't handle objects moving, because my brain has motion blur cranked up to 11 (and I still play Warframe, I just have no idea what I'm shooting, it's great). Fine detail, like the example of the little 1 half-hidden by the height bar, takes a while to resolve if I stare at it a little. I guess it's a minor thing, but since I played my way through CW3 by converting every single map to entirely maximum height and hunted down lower altitude stuff I expect I'll be referring to altitude a lot. Maybe not, the 3D map and flattened 2D terraform screen might make height irrelevant. If it doesn't bother anyone else and remains perfectly clear, then it's probably just me and not worth changing.
I'm guessing that here is no tutorial of how to use the "map editor" in the V1.0 game. This is more a tutorial of how to create a new map, not how to edit. I was hoping to be able to edit a mission level to add a new level of complexity or simplicity.
Uh, weird place to ask for help, but how to upload maps? It always says I need to give it a title name, but I don't know where that is. apparently, it isn't the one I give it before making it?
Does AC destroy forests too? That could make some maps interesting, by making an objective easier to clear with AC, but forests getting destroyed as a result; or even making you shield forests from your own AC lol
Generate maps from images if a so huge thing. I can already imagine using some company logo to create map, etc. Any news of a release date ? Even early access, alpha, anything, I buy the game instant !
I don't know if you said but it looks like the mesh works with anticreeper as well? I'm not very creative when it comes to things like this but I can tell that people will make a lot of cool things with this!
Its amazing how powerful you are making that editor. I just can't wait to play around with it. I have one suggestion though, could you increase the amount of custom textures to at least 42, just so people can use their own textures and normalmaps for every terrain height and the cliffs.
The amount of design possibilities here is incredible! Thank you Virgil for making such awesome tools available for the community map artists. There's going to be some wonderful creations and I'm so looking forward to it!
Will you consider making caves or is it something the engine can´t do or is it something you don´t want to have because gameplay then would be difficult.
This is so amazing! I really wish other games gave players this freedom for their map editors! And the best part about is that it looks super easy and straighforward to use!
