Sitting off a busy road sits this post-apocalyptic-like abandoned neighborhood. The downfall of the street started in 2013 when 4 of the 7 homes went up for sale. Purchased by a developer, they sat empty for the next ten years changing ownership on multiple occasions. The abandoned homes quickly became overrun by squatters, junkies, vandals, and In 2020, two more homes fell abandoned after finally being bought out. Today one lonely home sits still lived in, likely facing immense pressure from the developer to sell. The plan is to build 41 luxury stacked townhomes in the place of the neighborhood. Only time will tell if that happens

💔 so damn sad to see beautiful old well built homes left to rot so some money hungry developers can build some overpriced garbage… I hope the holdout gets whatever they can because the developers obviously destroyed any neighborhood value they had in their pride and joy.

@karenfitzpatrick6256
@karenfitzpatrick6256 Год назад
Not only left to rot, but rotting because of the filthy people squatting there. It bad enough they break in because they are homeless and drug addicted, but to destroy the place they are staying shows they need to be arrested. Screened for drugs and mental illness then in prison with life skills programs. They need help to become acceptable safe community members. Obviously they didn't learn as children to respect others or to care for themselves or their possessions. Some serious treatment and reeducation needed! Affordable housing is a must for where people are homeless. Society has some serious problems that need to be fixed.

I love mid century, too. It represents a time of optimism to me - despite the Cold War. Young families being able to afford a home & decent car, children on bicycles, families gathered around the supper table and women being able to stay home. Less stress and a brighter future. Unfortunately, all that went to 💩 with the intentional destruction from within.

I have a 1950s house. It has so many windows that I could only hang up a few of my favorite wall art--no wall space! It also has a fireplace made of similar yellow brick, but the previous owners painted it. These houses have lots of late 50s features.

Toxic mold is formed by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are, in turn, formed by the production of mold spores. These toxins can be extremely dangerous to humans and may even begin to affect the nervous system and the respiratory system. I appreciate your video but advise you to do the following next time you enter a property with mold: What to Wear before entering a Home or Building with Mold Damage Goggles or eye protection N-95 respirator or one that provides even more protection (check packaging for “N-95”) Long-sleeved shirt Protective gloves Long pants Waterproof boots CAUTION! If you have a breathing problem like I do such as asthma, do not enter a building with mold damage. Mold can make asthma symptoms worse. If you have a weakened immune system (such as from cancer treatment or medicines that suppress the immune system), do not enter a building with mold damage. People with a weakened immune system are more likely to get a serious illness from mold.. Stay safe out there. Thank you.

@NoahNowhere
@NoahNowhere Год назад
That's a good question but a hard one to answer. On one side yes it's stealing cause it's not yours. On the other side it's 99% likely it will be thrown away once the house gets demolition so nobody would realistically care about it. I think in this case most people would probably take it and develop it. I wouldn't cause I don't know what's on that film
@ckswat77zz51
@ckswat77zz51 Год назад
I agree with you 99%. But that 1% curiosity would want to see what’s on the film!😬. Did you ever see that lone neighbor? It would be interesting to get his story on why he stayed. I can only imagine how bad it is living there with all the drug users, fires, noise, fear etc. I’m glad you & Uncapped were together just in case. That one home with the water leaking out had concrete tubs(for the washer)& those aren’t made anymore. My guess is 50’s/60’s era. I personally don’t like split levels. The fireplaces were nice except I can just imagine myself walking around that corner & smashing my shin on the concrete piece sticking out. That I didn’t like 😂Take care Noah

Thank you for this video, and I am happy that you had someone with you for this explore. I mostly love all of the hardwood, and the big windows in these houses, it's a real shame that they won't be salvaged. I don't really like the brick fireplaces, just kind of generic, but the houses all had their own little personalities. That teak stand - I would love to have that and keep it just the way it is. I wish you had boots for the basement to the last house. But anyways, great explore. And an off note - I don't feel all that sorry for people who break into homes and destroy them. There are homeless and there are squatters who just like to destroy things. Just my opinion.

Almost all the time I had the fear that someone unwanted would turn up at any of the houses. I had the feeling that they would jump out of the corner at any moment. By the way, I wonder about the motives of the one owner of an inhabited house who chooses not to sell it. I think he might feel uncomfortable living in such a neighbourhood rather than another.
