Do you have a video of Replacing the Tensioner - what are your thoughts on replacing Stock Tensioner with Manual Tensioner ?
@krystopherpage8012
@krystopherpage8012 5 лет назад
Did u end up going OEM on the tensioner? How did you know it needed to be changed? I have a small knocking sound coming from my 06 450r? I think that is my problem

Thanks for the video. I have the same bike with an intermittent spark and i'm hoping its the stator coil.
@CoteMotorcycles
@CoteMotorcycles 9 лет назад
Be sure to check the easiest stuff first. A damaged kill switch or related wiring is usually the culprit for ignition problems on the hondas. Check all your wiring for chaffing/connectivity and go from there. More often then not I've seen one of the connectors on the coil not plugged properly and only held on by the insulation. A stator will generally work or not work on these bikes. Very rare they have a broken wire that contacts when cool and looses continuity when its hot. (which is what you're suggesting I believe) Just a heads up and good luck! Be sure to share the videos so we can make some more. Thanks for watching.

you make it look so easy... im trying to take off the stator nut before flywheel and it just keeps spinning could this be the clutch slipping?
@CoteMotorcycles
@CoteMotorcycles 8 лет назад
+Zachary Hamren Most likely the clutch is slipping. Those nuts can get pretty tight from going through years of heat cycles. You may need a flywheel holder or you can pull your right side case cover off and jam the primary drive sprocket against the clutch hub with a piece of aluminum. There are literally 10 different ways to do it but some make it pretty easy to F stuff up if you're not 100% on what your doing. Factory training frowns on this method but I use my 1/2" impact on them all the time. Don't use the impact for the puller though. Have fun!

Thanks for a great video. What type of sealant did you use for the stator grommet? Does the sealant go all way around the grommet? or just in the groove?
@goboardcanada6263
@goboardcanada6263 8 лет назад
Permatex Ultra Black. All around the grommet wouldn't hurt.

I used the idea of putting something in the front sprocket.....broke two teeth and slip the clutch sooooo idk what to do now

I would put a wrench on the other side of the crank if possible use that to hold it

Do you have a part number for the flywheel puller?
@CoteMotorcycles
@CoteMotorcycles Год назад
Probably easiest to just Google the year and model of your bike and flywheel puller and should get what you’re looking for.

My dog messed up order of bolts for cover .5 short ones 2 long. Wea the 2 long ones go
@CoteMotorcycles
@CoteMotorcycles 2 года назад
If the shorter bolt hits the case before being able to thread it in then you need a longer bolt. Also, if you use a bolt that is too long it will bottom out before the head seats. You can probably see where they go in the video.

if I have a impact gun is there any reason to jam the sprocket?
@goboardcanada6263
@goboardcanada6263 8 лет назад
Nope. Go nuts. It's just going to be tough to get the proper tightening torque with an impact.

Can you replace the Cam Chain Guide and Tensioner (interior) without removing the head?
@CoteMotorcycles
@CoteMotorcycles 4 года назад
The tensioner guide is held in place by the head. I’ve never really seen one worn out unless the engine was run without oil (or full of water) so the head was always coming off regardless. Hope that helps! Hit me with a thumbs up and a share if you could!

@@CoteMotorcycles thanks man. They look to be in tact when I look in through the valve cover but discolored due to lack of maintenance from previous owners. Got to get use to how this thing sounds... I hear the are it of a clacky beast.

WHAT IS THE OD OF THAT PEICE OF TUBING YOU USED TO LOCK THE SPROCKET WHEN REMOVING FLYWHEEL NUT ?
@CoteMotorcycles
@CoteMotorcycles 8 лет назад
I'm not entirely sure, that bit of aluminum is long gone. It's not scientific, the point was to show one method of locking the crankshaft. It's definitely best to find a flywheel holder or lock the clutch to primary drive gear. If your using a jam anywhere, make sure it's softer than steel or you'll do some damage.
