always remember that six by imran, camera on the top of that crane following it till it was perpendicular and the ball was still going up. and yes, there was genuine violence at that game.
@@ibbysvloggs1018there were racist chants and fights all during the day not at the end of the match. After this match the MCC decided that they needed to employ extra stewards , I was one of them and watched most of the tests as a steward
1987 ka world cup mein sabse jyada majbut team Pakistan tha magar Pakistan team mein ek bahut bada daag tha vah daag Mansoor akhtar tha vah Pakistan team ke liye panoti sabit hua
One of those rare one day matches that you remember more than 30 years later. Proof that you don't need lots of slogging and sixes for a match to be entertaining. Some proper cricket strokes, players in whites, a proper boundary rope . . . shit, I am sounding old!
@distantvoices Totally agree. Poor management and the old boys club selection policy. Also, some England players were simply too 'nice' and did not respond well when the opposition started to sledge or up the ante.
Great stuff. Some nice moments there but for me, that catch by Gower was special. What a fielder he was. People often say he was a lazy cricketer who was only interested when he got a bat in international cricket, but you've got to be 100% on your concentration to take a catch like that - and he did it many times throughout his career.
I was at this game it was my very first England cricket match I had seen. I was lucky enough to be in a corporate box also for the first time in my life. I was so excited when the winning run was hit I jumped up for joy punched the air and managed to remove several panels from the suspended ceiling much to the amusement of most, the disdain of a few and the embarrassment of myself!
Thanks for the great upload. This was the first England match I watched properly on TV, at the age of 9, and it was seared into my memory. Magical stuff - loads of ducks and run-outs (Richie shouting "HAVE TO BE QUICK!" every few seconds), scintillating hitting from DeFreitas, and Fozzy snicking the winning runs in his crash helmet! :)
I remember the article in The Hindu newspaper ,Madras. One Pakistani origin fan's life was saved by a British policewoman .She stopped bleeding from his slit throat due to a flying shard of glass ...Violent fans..
Javaid used to be the only one to take the burden of whole batting line up . Once Javaid our whole batting used fall like dry leaves. Same thing happened in World Cup 1992 semifinal no one was able to stand the pressure and Javaid Mindad stood like Mount Everest only Inzamam played good because he had no pressure because Javaid was playing with him . This was the common practice until the retirement of great Javaid Mindad.
This was a match between the two best one day teams of its time. England was on a high in the one day game after the triumph in Australia and then in Sharjah. Pakistan was at its prime as a one day team after the triumph in India.
Thad tuiol Funny, I used to think the same when far right white nationalists used football grounds as recruiting stations. Lo and behold, it's still happening. I guess that's just the despicable nature of human beings for you.
Agree with this. I went to the 5th Test at the Oval in 1987. Even as a 14 year old I could see something had gone badly wrong with project integration. Was no surprise that the BBC and media even back then was siding with the Pakistan supporters even though they were openly shouting racist abuse at whites and the Police. It actually kicked off at the game depicted in the youtube video above. An England fan was bottled although they tried to keep it quiet. Imagine had it been the other way round?
Batting skills were better or bowling was better in yester years??? Batsmen had to think twice before playing a stroke... How Sunil Gawasker managed to score runs?
A purely stupid Batting effort and well supported pathetic fielding effort in the end cost the match....!!! Bowling was quite good except second last over of wasim akram.
Greg Thomas…properly quick bowler who was a good enough bat to make two FC hundreds. There were far worse England cricketers in that era who played more internationals than he did.
@@NishitShukla I’m a cricket fan. I’m not English or Australian. I think that that reverse sweep is a part of cricketing history and quite possibly the start of Australian cricket dominance for more than two decades.
Great first over from Greg. I was in the car on the way to BP Llandarcy listening to BBC LW. Trouble was the faster Greg bowled the further it went. Great whilst it lasted though. Top fella Greg.
Bless...the final stages of the old Wurlde of cricket. Plummy commentators sounding more like senior military Officers from the 1950s. Only one camera available. A maths teacher opening England's bowling. Fielders giving up on chasing the ball. 55 overs yet just over 200 runs. The crowd running on at the end and players struggling to get past them.
A lot of Stupid lazy shots by the 87' team no composure. Still Gatting helped pick them. My bile + hate is still there for Athey who f'd up our chance in the test series. He alway was the JONAH !
The greatest match I ever saw live - so pleased to be there except I got to my seat for the 5th ball of the match and so missed 2wickets! Love the unlikely heroes. Englands top order took time to get their eye in so left Emburey, Foster and de Freitas with extra pressure. What a thriller. Englands weakest bowling attack of all time?....Fraser was better than these guys
I'd forgotten about Greg Thomas - like Foster, his career curtailed by injuries. Foster was a very skillful bowler, but yes not the bowling attack to have the opposition too concerned! Great opening spell by Thomas though.
what a fantastic match..equal fight between bat and ball.. Phil defretas you beauty -played innings of his life to nail Pakistan .. 20:02 Stuart broad's father Chris broad
