It would be helpful if videos had closed captioned for those of us who are hearing impaired. It was difficult to understand due to the volume of the music and fast talking. Any consideration would be appreciated.

on the Cricut website both are listed at 399 but the current maker is discounted. but RRP is the same. Guess they need to get rid of the maker stock before the new one is available.

I just bought a Cricut maker less than 6 months ago and spent a lot of money. Now Cricut comes out with a new machine that means more $$$$. Cricut needs to come down on their prices so we can afford all the new products

Yes. I got lucky as I was overwhelmed with maker that I didn’t open box (I still have the cartridge cricut--which I didn’t mind except for the mat) I was able to return it back to my CC at michaels with sealed box. I bought the 3, waiting to arrive. Now watching this video I am not impressed with difference unless I buy their smart product. And I thought I was completely mat less. Nope. Should have just kept the other one.

The mat is still handy when you are cutting different colors. I bought my maker 2 years ago and the Joy last year and have about 50 rolls of all types of vinyls that I hardly use LOL

I recently received the 3 as a gift. I am new to Cricut, but I am very impressed on all the possibilities and the talent that is out there making such art. This video was great at explaining the differences and I am glad I have the 3 . The new length is important to one of my projects. With so many optional cutting tools the amount of materials that can be used has expanded. I also received the lighting pad. This made for easy separation when working with intricate designs. I appreciate the tools that are available to let my creativity flow, Now, if you will excuse me I have wall art to make. Happy Cricutting.

Agreed. Design Space is pretty limited compared to graphics software. Why? More tools needed. The smart vinyl does not need a mat but smart vinyl has to be more expensive.

Design space is not very reliable at all. Images distort if you slice or weld and contours are pretty useless. You can't click on any part of the contour image without it clicking several pieces away instead of where you click and if you want to use the boxes on the right of the screen, the images don't match the part it controls.

So basically they created an upgrade that requires users to purchase a new line of consumable products which does not seem like a cost-effective trade-off for the cutting mats and really not much advantage to the speed for home crafters, and if you don't have the press the new vinyl won't work for you. There are supposed to be new cutting tools, which are at an extra cost. Haven't seen anyone say what those are yet. I wish they would put more time into improving design space and without the frequent upgrades that always seem problematic. A good scan and cut would be a welcomed feature for either machine. For these kinds of companies if you frequent their website and watch prices you can see the pattern of introductions. I anticipated this for this spring but the Mug Press was introduced so I thought their might be a glitch with the machine and a delay in launching it. Also once a new version is introduced there is minimal support for older versions.

I just got the Maker 3 and the small cutting machine, (sorry I don't know what it's called) for Christmas. Due to MS I haven't been able to even take them out of the boxes yet, but I'm feeling better and I'm going to be crafting all weekend. I feel the same way! I’m fixing to switch to silhouette. They’re always doing way to much and coming out with crazy priced machines that to be honest, what exactly is so great? I mean silhouette does all this already? It’s not in my budget to purchase new machines every year.

Just bought the cricut maker 3. I own the cricut maker as well. Also the cricut air, cricut joy, the cricut cuttlebug and the cricut expression. I run all of them. Each one for a specific reason :) the Cricut maker 3 will be a great addition to my crafting studio:) loved the video you made:) looking forward to the new Machine. I also use these machines with my 3D printer projects. Between the cricut machines and my 3D printers I have endless possibilities:) the two combined make amazing projects. Cricut has me for life:)

Thank you for this overview. Santa came early and just brought the Cricut Maker 3 to me this week! I received the bundle and boy, oh boy, did I hit the jackpot! I received the tools, vinyl, and the trimmer. I am set! What I noticed is that there is not a scoring blade. Is that something I will need to purchase separately?

I got the Maker 3 for Xmas. I had the scoring stylus already (was using it for some projects I did with the joy) and you can use that one instead of the scoring blade.

You can use the joy materials in ANY Cricut. You can use their smart materials in ANY CRICUT. I use them on my Silhouette and my Cricut.

I just bought the Cricut Maker 3 and it arrived today. Can't wait to play with it as its meant to replace my older Graphtec Model. I purchased it for $424.36 (Approx USD 312.12) including Tax and Delivery. I don't know if it is costly for a machine like this. Anyway I bought it brand New, Not refurbished, Not second-hand nor a Display set. I think it operates way silently compared to my Graphtec machine. I am gonna test it out further to try out its capabilities.

Why bring out another machine that's really no different from the Maker? Its faster on Smart Material but if your using a mat it cuts at the same speed as the Maker, so whats the point in upgrading then???

So sell what you bought. If it's still in good condition and you haven't been using them for mass production projects you could probably get a good rating on its used status and then use that to upgrade. Yes, it sucks that they don't do what some craft companies used to do with promoting "coming in 1-2 years" for upgrades tools, but this is the world we're living in. I have no doubt you can sell the machines you have and be close to covering the whole cost of the machine.

I've been buying Cricut's off and on since it was just a 6x12 machine..then they had the Expression (I have the pink one that a portion went to Breast Cancer) and we can't forget what a fail the Cricut Imagine was. I then had the regular Cricut and then a couple? Of years ago I upgraded to the Explore Air, I think the 1st one, not the 2 when it went on sale. I've used them a ton for carding making, vinyl, 3D art etc not to mention my daughter has used it a lot for school projects. Anyway, it's been 10+ yrs for me as part of the Cricut 'family' and my advice is - when you decide to buy, be happy with what you have because they are more than likely coming out with a new model within 1-2 yrs of the last one. It's just how it's been for like...ever? with them. Nothing is wrong with the old machines. Heck I use to use them when you had the cartridges (that were 60+ dollars) and the key pad to select your images. LOL. Anyway, I'd not be upset that you just got a 2, be happy with it and enjoy crafting.

I thought I would learn how to put the vinyl in and when and how to print or cut my vinyl. I am that new. All that other stuff you talked about was over my head since I've never had a cricut.
