A B.C. teen’s cry for help was heard worldwide when her RU-vid post went viral, highlighting her terrifying online ordeal of blackmail, harassment and sextortion.
The 15-year-old’s encounter with a cyber predator triggered relentless years of bullying and police response left her feeling helpless and alone. Amanda Todd’s heart-wrenching video made her a household name. It also became a symbol in the fight against online harassment.
And, what followed was a global search to find the ‘man in the shadows’ who had been tormenting her and dozens of other victims. But would there be justice? Kamil Karamali reports on Amanda Todd’s life and legacy.

I was criticized by many when I chose to sit down my daughter at about age 11 and watched Amanda’s story. People thought I was showing her inappropriate content and teaching her to fear the world. My daughter is now 21 and has used the lessons learned all these years. I don’t regret it one bit and we definitely should be afraid of these situations when it comes to our children. My heart truly breaks for what she went through and I wish that it never happened but Amanda has saved many lives even though she’s no longer on earth. Sending nothing but love and strength to her loved ones, and I think I speak for many when I say her light will never dim and her story never forgotten.

21:37 I think the saddest part of this whole thing is the fact that it’s very likely that all the people who slandered her on social media, likely also attended her candle light vigil. And of ALL those who attended her candle light vigil, none likely spoke up against her bullying who knew of it. Bully’s do t work unless we give them power. Amanda’s entire peer group gave power to her bullying. And that is far sadder than the existence of one deplorable pedophile. Who has the balls to go against the flow of mass cyber bullying? Apparently no one.

I would’ve been her friend.. Kids are mean and we need to do better to protect them from these creeps!.. also of course the RCMP didn’t comment because they are a lazy police force and can’t admit when they don’t take things serious enough. I can't imagine the suffering this poor girl endured. Life is hard enough at that age without having a single mistake follow you like a dark shadow. It must have felt like a hopeless situation to a young woman who had her whole life ahead of her. And the predator that tormented her got 11 years in prison in the Netherlands; Amanda's case got him an additional 13 years. Europe is famous for handing-down light sentences. Without the additional years imposed by the Canadian courts, he'd have been a free man and would doubtless have gone on to commit even more more serious crimes.

This guy - being in the Netherlands - was unwise to choose a Canadian victim. The reason why is that we (Canada) have stellar relations with the Netherlands because it was the charge of the Canadian corp to liberate much of Holland during WWII. I’m sure that the Netherlands would have gone a long way to help us out in a matter such as this.

The schools don't tell you that's an option. My daughter was bullied and the school was very unhelpful, they wanted her to go to counseling so she can "handle" the bullying better. Maybe Amanda's mom could've done more. Or maybe she was doing the best she could at that time. The fact of the matter is a little girl is gone because a predator online and her own peers tormented her to death. It's easy to judge parents for their choices when we have the benefit of time and perspective, and an understanding of something that was new to them (social media) at the time. No parent is perfect, and I'm sure if she knew what we all know now, she would have made different choices and that still might not have saved Amanda. I'm sure her mother lives with that guilt every day of her life, and forever will even though it's not her fault. Believe me, nobody judges a parent harder than themselves. Have some compassion.

Amanda just flashed her boobs teens see pop stars like Britney Spears or fashion models showing skin it's not really a big deal but people were malicious and immature and degraded her the police wanted her off social media which probably just made her feel more isolated and victim shamed they are to blame as are the teachers that don't expel or press charges when other students assaulted her and the parents of the bullies that encourage their kids to be assh*les.
