Prevention is needed. This glorification of violence in popular media and lack of real opportunities looms large for many. It’s like the economic conditions of the Eighties for similar reasons. The wealthy want to divest themselves of responsibility and then cry foul about lenience. Sounds like you’re wanting to play into the For Profit prisons camp narrative.

That was a very heartbreaking episode to see how someone and his family loved our country enough to come back to visit only to lose his way of life.I think I speak on behalf of all Canadians when I say I'm so sorry for what happened to you when you came to our country to visit. We aren't like other countries that shoot and kill people everyday, we value life and I hope you can continue coming back to enjoy Canada cause we have a beautiful country, and to the offender regardless of your age and history, you should be punished for the irreversible wrong you caused or you will grow up not owning up to the consequences of your actions.

I really do hope those kids are able to be rehabilitated and grow up to be happy, sober people. We all deserve that chance. His sentence seems light. But I won't judge that because I do not work in the field of law or law enforcement. So I don't think I could lay down any reasonable arguments either way. I will have to trust in our legal system. What I worry more about is what this kid is going to do with his time on parole? Will he be protected from this kind of lifestyle? Or was he just thrown back into the bad fish pond? It's not fair. If he goes directly back to the troubled place he was in before, that would be hard to escape from when you're so young and feeling hopeless and small. I hope all those kids are ok 4 years later now.

As a Canadian im embarrassed of what so low life drug induced teen did to you father and family. I have met many people over the years camping from European country’s who absolutely love Canada. Our justice system here is absolutely embarrassing and needs to be completely over hauled. Some of our First Nations people need to stop playing the victim card on there up bringing to get them out of paying for tragic crimes they commit and that also goes for all Canadian as well. We seem to have a HUG A THUG PROGRAM here were it’s never some one’s fault or it’s there up bringing to blame. I hope your father keeps recovering and still sees our country for the beauty he seen when he first came here.

Such a tragic and totally unnecessary act. Thank God the father survived. As a Canadian, our justice system infuriates me sometimes. I can get wanting to protect a minor's identity when it comes to petty crimes or something like that but shooting a man in the forehead for no reason? Give me a break, ridiculous. The teen doesn't deserve having his identity protected and any problems he would have down the line for being know for what he did is all his problem and of his own doing. And i get the fact the they didn't think they could get a conviction of attempted murder but being charged with "discharging a firearm in a motor vehicle"? Big whoop. He shot the man in the damn forehead, i don't care how high he was or how fast they were driving, shooting someone in the forehead clearly shows only one intent. Smh Then making excuses for the teen by saying he grew up in a troubled environment and being mentally undeveloped was just infuriating me even more.

Ich habe es eben gesehen die Episode, ich weiß nicht was ich sagen soll 😢. Es ist wichtig alles zu zeigen damit Menschen darüber nachdenken was sie tun. Ich bin froh das er überlebt hat. ❤

The idiot: "Exposing their name would destroy their lives"! So, it's no problem if they destroy other people's lives? There are thousands of criminal youth in the US with their names known. What has happened to their lives?

Never ever lie to anyone about the shape a victim is in. Lying will cause more trauma in the end.

Canada and Australia really take the biscuit when it comes to sentencing violent criminals!

I watch a lot of these programmes and I am horrified by the leniency of the sentences. All the excuses made for the perpetrators by the prosecution are simply unbelievable!!!!!!! They almost killed an innocent man. Unbelievable. I am switching off before I hear the sentences.

I have a 16 year old son. He knows right from wrong and isn't on his own long enough to get drunk or do meth. To be honest, I can't even envision it. Someone, I assume, his parents, failed this young man. It doesn't excuse what he did, but parents need to raise better young people. Otherwise, innocent people like this lovely German family, suffer.

Purposely aiming and firing the gun at somebody after your friend tells you 'he doesnt like the owner of the vehicle', not even sure if its the actual person he doesn't like is crazy and murderous. And the excuse that the teen's mentally underdeveloped (????) and family troubles at home is a ticket to more crimes in d future if canadian laws are sooo lenient. Should've been longer jail time for all of them to learn their lessons. Relieved and thankful that the victim survived and even came back to visit Canada again. They are all good people with forgiving hearts. God bless the family.

After watching several cases on this channel, I have got a feeling that Canada justice is a far better failed justice, to a point that the victims are discouraged to seek justice.
