Amen! I live with a mental illness (bipolar disorder) and I completely agree. We are not murderers or criminals but a few of us choose to commit evil acts and that’s on us. I’ve studied a lot about mental illnesses and none of them mention anything about harming others as part of our illnesses. Plus many criminals often fake a mental illness to avoid a long jail sentence. As far as I am concerned, if you are capable of going to a dollar store and buying a knife to stab someone, then you are capable of making competent decisions. A person may need to be given psychological help during a regular sentence in a prison but not 5 years in a hospital. And finally, our mental health system needs to be taken more seriously. Not simply because of cases like this but those of us who have experienced mental illness and need help.

I think what is so common is failure for people in society to really understand the seriousness of mental illness. There needs to be more help and access to services. More education will help better identify people needing help before dangerous incidents happen.

I agree but I'll also admit that people don't get the help they deserve because our government fails them

@@Only-interested-in-the-truth it absolutely is serious. There are thousands of people suffering with severe mental illness and they don’t go around killing people. This should not be excused, mental illness or not.

​@@SaraSummerI work with people suffering from this type of mental illness. It is over the top scary. They are not in their right minds. They need care. If an act is not intentionally because someone is not in their right mind they can not be held accountable. I don't think she should have been released in to the community. There are so many people in the community roaming around like this.

Sadly justice does not bring anyone back. This literally could happen to anyone. I know where this happened and this is just a horrible matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong place. I don't think jail is the right spot but I think she needs life long close supervision preferably in a controlled clinical facility because she will always only be a few missed pulls away from being dangerous.

@Only Well said! I absolutely agree People who are mentally incapable should never go to prison just because the victims loved ones want revenge. Let us not get into the American way of thinking when it comes to the Juridical System!

It not about revenge. it's about murdering a person for no reason and going to jail for it. My goodness, how quickly the system forgot about the victim. She walks free n live her merry life. you wrote this three weeks ago a Ukrainian soldier had his head blown off clean off and where is the justice for their loved ones…for that matter just Ukraine and Russia alone over 300,000 mangled corpses and where is the justice… Sure I know that has nothing to do with this case but if the woman that committed the murder was genuine than justice has been served … She's going to be suffering with this the rest of her life so much so you and I can never understand how painful it will be for her… And if she's genuine putting her present serves no purpose at all as a matter of fact the money to keep her in prison comes out of our pockets and it cost a lot of money to keep an inmate or patient it cost a fortune so it's a negative … I think your statement was wrong saying zero justice… For her punishment could be greater than any prison sentence of any kind. I don't think we would want to live with it you know?

The greyhound bus cannibal and murderer is not even monitored as to whether he is taking his medication or not, no one has any idea, he is not monitored at all, neither the public or a doctor have any idea if he takes his medication, let that sink in, he decides one day to stop his medication as he has before and you happen to be sitting on a bus near him.

Sadly this is literally how a lot of people get diagnosed. There is a major episode and then they have got everyone's attention. I have worked with a lot of people with this diagnosis that we appearing to be functioning normally and were even very accomplished for their age until snap an incident happens.

She was diagnosed with mental health issues before she killed someone, unfortunately this short documentary doesn't cover everything. Toronto life wrote two in depth articles about rohinie bisesar life, child hood and eventual diagnosis.

People who have a serious mental illness do not recognize that nor do they think they need medication. As well the mental health laws give them the power to not take meds until someone figures out how sick they are and can commit them to be treated. Unfortunately it is a very frustrating system to be able to get someone any help, RIP and prayers for the family and friends!

It did present in her past, she had several hospitalization . I know that still seems so unfair and she should be charged if she doesn’t take her meds and our mental health system should be accountable too

Ok, Professor in mental health and criminal behaviour! So why did she kill this Lady? And if she was on a mission to kill, why didn't she kill more people? Why hadn't she ever been involved with Law Enforcement before? I mean, your logic is absolutely missing.

This woman was diagnosed with Schizophrenia which is a very severe disorder. For you to say that I probably suffer from Schizophrenia is just beyond all normal behaviour, even when it comes to online trolls! The reason for my so called hostile reaction is because people like you are throwing out comments that show me you don't understand what's being said in the video or you simply just chose to be ignorant and you're just out here provoking.

it’s so much more complex than just judging someone for the violent attack, the new standard for NCR requires that if someone has been deemed so mentally unwell to the point that at the time of the attack they were not able to mentally function ‘normally’ in a way for them to know what they are doing is wrong/weird/crazy like everyone else does. also you have to think about different cultures where their beliefs/ knowledge surrounding mental illness is so lacking to the point of ignorance and even refusal to accept that it even exists, leading to vulnerable people being ostracised and ignored by their very own and only support system (families and friends) so many factors contribute to the final finding of NCR. Meaning, while someone is unable to differentiate between reality and fantasy it would not necessarily benefit anyone especially the sufferer to punish them for a crime they possibly don’t even know they committed and more than likely are horrified by their actions because when they are well they have the same ability as ‘sane’ people to know right from wrong and know when something is reality and not delusions. don’t get me wrong i feel so much compassion and empathy for atrocious senseless crimes being committed and the families left behind whilst also being very aware of how complex the human mind is (even ‘experts’ have to admit failure sometimes when trying to work the brain out) and how unwell a person can become. growing up with a father suffering schizophrenia, not understanding the illness and blaming him for his bad choices, had a massive impact on my childhood until i grew older and learnt more about people not being their true selves and a mental illness is just as debilitating/devastating as a terminal illness and it has to be treated

Those of us who have mental illnesses are not a threat to society. We willingly take our medications and you can’t tell us from anyone else. It’s those who won’t take their medications and mix them with drugs that have a risk of violence. I live with a mental illness and I’ve never been in trouble.

I challenge you to look up some biographies of people with this type of mental illness. They do not do this intentionally. This is one of the saddest curses of life.
