Brigitte Serre was working her first overnight shift at a Montreal gas station when three men attempted an armed heist. Brigitte was murdered in the robbery gone wrong, stabbed 72 times.
he killer was eventually caught in a cross-country manhunt and sentenced to 25 years without parole for the brutal slaying.
But for the Serre family, the painful reminders of their tragic loss would surface time and time again as the convicted murderer applied for early release.

I already lost faith in the system by the time I was twenty. I was raised to respect the law, respect the Govt, and to Trust the Police , when my child was kidnapped by my ex and a woman who was supposed to be my best friend and I called Police for help, they couldn't help much they tried to find my child but months and months went by and then by time my child was found a Lawyer who had been paid lots and lots of money had already met with a family Judge who granted my ex and his new woman, my former best friend full custody of my daughter without so much as even hearing my side of the story and just took him at his word that I didn't have any interest in my child and that I had abandoned my child and that was why he was seeking custody. BS the story was fabricated , people were paid really well by his wealthy family and I found out years later straight from his mouth how he accomplished destroying any chance of a relationship I should have had with my child, with the help of the system in his corner. Every time I tried to get my child back my life was threatened by his friends in high places. To this day my daughter is so brain washed by him that she actually believes I never wanted her and that I never loved her. No matter how my side of the family has tried to reach out to her she doesn't want to have anything to do with any of us. The only thing Police said to me was that they had finally located them after months went by and that possession is nine tenths of the law and that he had presented with full legal custody papers and I was advised to get a lawyer and they turned and walked away. When I finally had my day in court it was told to my lawyer by the family judge that too much time had passed to return my child to me, that he had been the primary care giver for months and it was not in the best interest of the child to up root her now. I asked him in 2000 , how did he get custody of our daughter without my side of the story being heard at all and he said the system is rigged and if you got money like my family then you can make anything happen in your favor, makes me sick these Thug type people getting away with crimes the way they do with absolutely no remorse. Sickens me too how the system is nothing but a sham to collect tax dollars to ruin the lives of others. I lost all faith in the system but gained faith in Christ through it all.

@@BlindFreddy59 I'm Australian and our sentencing laws are completely skewed. I simply don't understand how judges and magistrates can sit in court, listen to the horrific things an accused has done and then sentence them to "life" with minimum of 10 years or something as weak. "Life" should mean life, forever, until they die. If the justice system can't bring about that, the minimum should be 25-30 years.

@@arolf2524 I think whoever makes the decision to let a prisoner or repeat offender out after a serious offence against another person, should be accountable for whatever the prisoner does after his release. @arolf2524
@arolf2524 22 дня назад
@@BlindFreddy59 I totally agree. I don't know how that would work, but something has to be done. I know the procedures for bail procedures have been tightened to an extent in terms of who can actually grant bail, but whether that helps or not remains to be seen. I don't know how people like Jill Maher's husband and family live with the knowledge that some stupid stupid person felt sorry for a vicious criminal and let him out on bail. I would wake up screaming everyday and I honestly think I would go mad from anger, frustration and grief at the idiocy and leniency of our justice system.

Here in this wonderful country if you murder someone you will NEVER spend your life in prison 99% of the time you will be released after 25 years if not sooner. I seriously hope I never lose a loved one to murder bc I’ll be victimized not only by the murder but also by our disgusting excuse for a justice system. This is what is said when they’re asked why is that person not given life without parole bc it’s unconstitutional wtf seriously so murdering someone is Ok but giving someone life in prison for the murder isn’t. Hard working people (young or old) doing night shifts on their own all because the powers that be want to save “the mighty dollar”. Safety doesn’t come into the shift that hard worker is doing all by themselves because it’s nighttime. These so called bosses don’t care about the safety of these hard workers, as long it’s not them doing the shift. It doesn’t matter that the actual job is not hard labour, the person doing that night shift is putting themselves out there and also all the responsibility of looking after the shop facility, all my themselves (young or old hard workers). Why do people always say "this shouldn't happen to someone I know or this doesn't happen in places like this". Unfortunately folks it can happen to anyone anywhere anytime

What do you have to do in Canada to get a whole life tariff? I have been bingeing this channel & I haven't seen one. When will the victims rights be more important then the scum bags?

What an unfair burden for victims. I understand that ppl who commit crimes are also human beings and have their own trauma stories, however our system is not rehabilitation based and until it is, you should really get life. If you don’t serve life, at least serve the full sentence so victims can move on with their lives and start healing .. at least for a period of time.

Its likely that he will be released when he's old or very old , the case seems got media coverage and a lot of people know about it , so if they release him early, people will react , also he is desperate to get out , desperate but smart which is a tell tale that he is faking and I can assume Canada isnt stupid enough to release him early then he will commit a crime again it will be a clusterfuck. this is why I assumed he will be released when he is old.
