Unless you’ve had a severe anxiety problem, it’s impossible to understand. People call worrying, anxiety. That’s not even close to true. Anxiety made me feel like I was gonna pass out all the time, dizzy, fatigued, and all sorts of other symptoms. Went to all kinds of doctors, none of which helped or even mentioned it could be a severe anxiety disorder. Thankfully, I’m doing much better now. But it was like living in H**l for a year.

society has replaced the word 'nervous' with 'anxiety'. Like you said there's stark differences. Sadly generally nowadays when people feel anything unsettling theyuse anxiety as a blanket term.

@@BigPhil2024 exactly! Real anxiety doesn’t turn off and you can’t control it. It’s insulting when people say just don’t worry. 😒

I'm so happy to hear you're doing better. It really is hell. I never feel like I'm in control and thats one of my biggest fears and not having control of situations. I feel like I'm letting someone else control my body and it's miserable. A lot of tears.

I agree. Certain terms such as "anxiety" and "trauma" are being misused these days. More and more people can no longer discern "normal" feelings such as grief, fear , worry...

Wow, when Dr. John mentioned the thing about being addicted to being alert I completley understood. I've gotten to the point where I feel pretty uncomfortable when I'm "relaxing." I feel like I should be doing somethingm like something bad si gonna happen all the time, I accidentally take on other people's stress and realize later "oh, I shouldn't be stressed about that, it's literally not happening to me". THe only times I can really relax is when I 100% go away from everything, no communication out in the mountain or get as far from my state as possible.

Anxiety is awful. I had it so severely as a teenager. I literally had to force myself to over come it by saying I'd rather be doing something and feel anxious than be a boring person at home still feeling anxious.

Regular exercise helps a ton because it burns up stress hormones and helps you sleep well. Exercise and laughter with friends, plus having a written action plan were the only things that got me through some extremely stressful periods un my life.

Big hug Hunter!!!! I struggled with the same for a loooong time. Being in a horrible life sucking sales industry for 18 years, plus moving to a new city with NO friends ruined my health. My personal life changes: changed career (I work from home now), stopped drinking coffee (switches to Matcha), started getting out and exercising outdoors (either biking, kayaking or swimming), sharing my struggle with family and started connecting to local community by getting involved in local church. Please keep searching for what brings you peace. There is light at the end of the tunnel kid and I hope and pray you get there along with me and others who have come through this experience.

I've been seeing a therapist for almost 2 months now because of my anxiety and depression and it felt so amazing to know that I wasn't crazy. That even though I had a "label", I at least had something that there was a solution for. Next week, we are going to take some tests for depression and ADHD because I have lived my whole life feeling broken and wrong and it's mostly from my childhood trauma but now that I'm getting help, I don't feel the same level of shame. It's still there but I'm glad I reached out to get help.

My only thing about meds is that they stop working. I don't want to be on meds. I don't want to deal with the side effects. Alcohol is out of the question. It's been a lifelong issue for me. And don't get me started with trying to find a good counselor😒

Yes! The good counselor thing is real! I worked for 7 years in mental health , and can honestly say there was only one therepist I saw actually making a difference for his patients. The others had so many issues themselves, they were ineffective. I've tried a plethora of therepists personally , and find just venting/talking to a few close friends is much better.

i deal with the same things. i threw up waiting on a call back for a job because i was just so anxious. also even just a little anxiety causes me to run to the bathroom because it aggravates my IBS. i start my new job tomorrow and i have to be up getting ready at least 2 hrs before i have to be there because i know i’ll be anxious and need time to use the bathroom. my last job i was there for 5 years and my first month i was having panic attacks daily. idk how i got through it honestly. it did get better but towards the end i was calling off once or twice a month just to have mental health days. i was lucky to be union during that time, it was the reason i wasnt fired. this new job is temporary and thats the only thing keeping my anxiety anywhere near bearable. but it’s still there.. lurking, waiting for a trigger. when i DONT feel anxious, i almost feel like something is wrong because it is such a piece of me that it feels odd to be completely content.

I quit cold turkey on my anxiety pills. It's almost like they were a placebo. I've still got anxiety, which also triggers my Toureetes. I purchased an exercise bike from Amazon. I have a circuit step. I have a goal: prepare for a 5k in 16 weeks. I've already stumbled, but I'm back on track. I don't beat myself up if I don't get my 10k steps or miss a day of exercise. I eat healthy and sleep well. I've found sleeping is the key. This caller is all of us at some point in our lives. Great call! 💜

@@suen5006 my psychiatrist was thrilled! I think a lot of the anxiety was provoked by my surroundings. I started at a new church. I was accepted from day one. The old church prohibited me from joining small groups, Bible studies, and serving in the kids ministries. I was prejudged. The pastor who made the decision said l may say something to scare a child or turn a new person away. When I served in the coffee shop, he said I made people feel uncomfortable. I said I can't make people feel a certain way. That's on them. After I left, I found out they only wanted people who fit the criteria. I'm not a church basher, but after two years, I let go of the rope and the ground was under my feet. It felt great. They made no attempt to educate others of my disabilities. They judged me on mania and depression. I said I'm happy to be around people and I get excited. These were pastors who judged and that is wrong. 😢 I almost called into the show about this. You don't hear this topic discussed. Churches silence you. 😢😢

My wife has what I would consider crippling anxiety. I dont know what she goes through and wont act like I understand but i do have a question. She has been this way for 9 years now. Each year it gets worse. I see so many videos on how to help a spouse with anxiety but what about the spouse that doesn't have anxiety? Every time we talk about her anxiety all I ever hear is I need to say things different or look different when we talk cause the faces i make and way I say it comes off as other things. I have tried to help her seek help and she does the bare minimum until it gets really bad. We can go anywhere cant do anything without issues. I cant go anywhere alone or its unfair to her. I can honestly say that my final end has been reached. My question though.... Why is it someone that lives with another who has anxiety is supposed to really change everything they do to cater to this? I know its a mental health issue and very hard for someone to live with. I cant imagine how she feels all the time. Anxiety has made my relationship toxic. I cant speak with her, cant confide in her and everything I do is just a stab at her. On top of all this she is never happy with life, herself, her job, and literally everyone is an idiot compared to her. Not trying to be rude to anyone who lives with anxiety but why do i constantly see things telling me to deal with it and become who she needs me to be. Change who I am and how I do things to fit her thoughts. just frustrated so like i said do not take this at as a diss on anyone with it but when is enough enough. When can i feel happy again. When can I be happy or have something go how i want for once. Again this has been 9 years and she will search out help and then quit quickly saying she is doing better when she isn't. I need help. I dont know if the hate the world attitude is the anxiety or maybe that is just her but i want to understand more.

I think its a good idea for you to see a therapist and sort out your own feelings over it. Sort out if the situation is right for you and what you can or can't control. If she can't help herself and ultimately get the help she needs, you may want to consider your options.

Dude. I feel you. Went through this with my daughter. A toxic person can drain your life juices! Relief came for me when she moved out. I see her now putting all this anxiety, self righteousness , and selfishness on her fiance. I want to tell him to RUN .... anyway, it sounds like you may be rescuing her at the expense of your own sanity. I had to set boundaries , when they weren't met- I felt like that gave me permission to move on. You need support , even if it's just a good friend who knows the situation.
@Ali08
@Ali08 4 месяца назад
@susanmorgan4151 I see a lot of myself through your daughter and it hurts when people pass so much judgement about situations they have zero clue about. The anxiety itself made her "toxic," not your daughter. And it is not intentional. I wonder how her childhood was like? It is difficult to understand what she is going through when the other person do not share the exact experience. I know this is a old post but I hope she is seeking therapy for it, her fiance too. And maybe you should too to have a clearer understanding dealing with it second-handedly. Severe anxiety is absolute hell that for any of us going through would not wish it on anymore.
