Smoky Mountain Weather is always changing. A Crippling Cold Front has landed for a week straight leaving snow and rain frozen in place. With stocked provisions and plenty of fuel we are prepared to ride out the storm. Follow along on our main channel for the building of the homestead listed below.

The snow looks beautiful, but when it's bellow zero and with gusts of wind it makes you want it to be summer, LOL. My pets love going out to play in the snow, they look very cute in their coats and boots.

..all the best people were born in '58!.. Here in NW Scotland, we get all the weather that crosses the Atlantic. Last week we had 8 inches of snow, came as blustery showers, mostly overnight, and it cleared the following day. We rarely get down below freezing, odd as we're on the same latitude as Northern Canada! We had two gales (windstorms!) last night and two days ago, both with gusts reaching nearly 100 mph. We're used to those, just another normal winter storm!.. Stay safe..

No snow here in Raleigh but it’s cold , got down to 17 this morning! My wife is disappointed we haven’t had any snow. Glad you didn’t have any wind damage 👍

Lol, tell her she can come and have all of this that she wants. We wouldn’t want her to feel left out, ha ha ha ha. We will certainly be glad when it warms back up for sure and spring isn’t far away thank goodness.

Good day! We just had over a foot of snow and now is -5 deg. F. or - 22 deg Celcius. Its the cold wind that gets me - I think it would rather go through you than around you!!

Good Evening Richard ! I Live In the Foothills Of North Carolina, last 2 days had been cold down here, low yesterday was 14 and high was 30, today's 17 this morning and 37 today and windy! Stay Warm my friend!

Here in Somerset in the UK, it’s Sunday 21st and we’re getting the wind like you, but at least we’ve got rain and no snow! Fortunately there aren’t any large trees within striking distance either, unless they become completely airborne… Stay warm and safe!

Good morning Richard, Jenifer, you too Patrick. Well since i live at sea level we've had the king tides for the last month or so. I'm sure you seen the news of shore flooding in the low communities. Rain for the last 2 days with Sunday night coming we should get 4 to 7 inches of rain. Snow only happens once or twice every 20 years or so. We are pretty lucky here on the coast. Good morning Richard. Practice up on your singing of Walking in A Winter Wonderland. It sure is beautiful around there but then the melting will bring the runoff. Hope you stay safe during the crazy weather. Be careful around there. We just had another weekend in the deep freeze and then supposed to get 4 days of rain a little North of Houston. Just have to go with the flow and pray we are safe too. Take care and have some fun with what you get around there. Fred.

Good evening from Thailand. The view of the snow covered landscape makes me somewhat homesick. lol I say somewhat because I do not miss the cold. Here we get to experience 30 degree Celsius = 86 degree Fahrenheit at 7:46pm. This is after it has "cooled" down quite a lot. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, and experience a blessed new year.

We did, and that would be one place that I would love to go, but might not get to at my age and running this channel and everything else that I’m doing although I could take the cameras with me I guess. But it cost money and that’s something that’s getting very scarce today. Hope all is well and everybody is healthy, enjoying a great new year and look forward to your comments in the future.

Hey Richard, we got the same amount as you here in South Central Ky. I bet every single time you turn on the gas fireplace you're thinking what a great decision that was!😁 My picture of you having to stay in is like a spring loaded top getting wound tighter and tighter every day, as soon as you're able to get out and work you'll be 200 mph from sunup till sundown. Hope you and Smokey and Dolly stay warm and safe.

65 mph gusts that is a joke I must live a little north of you in Greene county we had 108 mph gust and steady 60 to 80 mph winds and have had worse you got a mild breeze and the power was out for 24 hrs and the winds stayed around for days

I think that the wind was all around us this time because we avoided whatever everybody else was reporting. But we got dumped on with the snow here when other places fairly close to us didn’t get hardly anything. Isn’t that crazy?

Lol, the jokes are for the majority who enjoy them just like they like to see me cook too, so lol I add a little of that in there. But no we didn’t have a break and I said if we did nobody would know about it for a long time back up here in the mountains because your neighbors can’t even see you so if you have anything of value, it would be a good way to protect it. I mean it may still get stolen, but you could identify who did it and uphold it in a court of law.
