@@frontier_conflict-qh1vj Wrong. If a patient is physically unwell and we know that without medical assistance there is a good chance they will die, we have every reason and right to take the patient in against their will. In this case, John is totally unable to take care of himself and actually a great case could be made for him not being in the right mind either. Retired ICURN from the US here.

Bless that beautiful paramedic who was so understanding of Mark's alcoholism/addiction. I'm nearly 11 years sober, and I may not have been as patient. It took me 20 years and many tries at rehab before I lost virtually everything and everyone. Since that time I not only got my life and family back, I gained a beautiful new life, two advanced degrees, and have a wonderful job as a teacher in a fantastic school. Sobriety is a hard challenge, but instead of giving up everything for just one thing, it's down to giving up ONE thing ... for EVERYTHING.

LoL. I live in UK. This is a TV program. They show what they want and discard the rest. The NHS is not all peaches and cream. They have A LOT of problems. I’ve been to A&E several times, unfortunately. The wait times are horrendous, unless you have a severe illness or injury. The wait times for surgery are also horrendous. I could go on and on. But, I do get it. You watch this program and think, alright that is great. Nope.

@@ThePriceIsRising At least you have somewhere to go. You should appreciate the NHS more. Look at Americans. They rather die than call an ambulance that will leave them broke. Is the NHS perfect? This made me cry. My sister and I took care of our elderly mother for five years. There were accidents and falls and we sometimes called for help. We got to know the local ambulance crew quite well (little town north of NYC). They were always warm and wonderful listening to my 90 year old mother’s jokes. Then came the time she was really sick. A bile duct clog or something. She was put in a nursing home. She died a few months later having fallen in the bathroom without a two man assist. When she was home with us we always did a two man assist. My sister and I. I spent her last days with her like I spent the last week of my husband of 24 years due to a brain aneurysm. Too much death. Too much pain.

I find it sad to know how many people don’t know how to perform CPR. It’s been a basic life-saving technique that can be performed in the space between a person going down and the ambulance crew’s arrival for decades. Please, I beg you all, take a life saving CPR course and learn how to save a life. You may never need to know how, but you may need to save a loved one some day. Please, please, please learn CPR!

The fact that the ems lady took the time to find out about his prescriptions shows how americas systems are so messed up. Ours make sure you don’t die and hand you off to your $15,000 hospital bill. You probably won’t be able to pay for the meds since it’s so expensive and insurance doesn’t wanna cover CRAP. I think about moving out of the country often.

Not to be cold, but Mark refused services quite early on. He was removing life saving services for people that desperately needed and wanted it. As a medic, I'd have left earlier. Obviously, I felt for Sara and their daughters, but his refusal for help fairly tied their hands. Hopefully, the specialist with the officer can take over and paramedics can leave to help others. Mark is being selfish and harming so many people, it's ridiculous.

30:03 because the stupid ambulance woman decided she wanted to lecture him while lying in the back of the ambulance, she caused the young man to feel a certain way, so he probably was also being judged and treated badly by the hospital staff, which in turn lead him to refuse treatment. The ambulance medic woman has no business lecturing people and judging them. Instead her job is to make sure he's kept alive until arriving at hospital. And that's it!
