Planted clover plus chickory with forage oats and rye the first weekend of august. Spread the rye and oats rototilled and dragged smooth. Then sread clover seed and lawn rolled plot. Had timely rain and by middle of September my oats had seed heads on them. Thankfully i saved some seed to layer some more in. Great products looking to get many years of use from clover.

Its great that you show us real world results by going out in the food plots. Thats what we want to see. Im in the Northeast and the deer are still in my clover. Its dropping to 23 tonight but for the next 12 days the average temps during the day is 42 ish. So im hoping the clover remains to keep the deer coming in.

I never have a problem growing beautiful lush food plots. The problem i do have is getting the deer to eat it. I finally found out that if i wait until early october to plant cereal rye the deer will actually eat it. In the past I always planted cereals in late August early September and it grew to tall and the deer didn't touch it. Winter peas go largely untouched. August planted sunflowers are all gone within a month after planting. Absolute best fall attraction I have ever seen in 20 years of food plotting. The radish tops and chicory get hammered in october. Radish and turnip bulbs for some reason go largely untouched until early February. I hunt in mixed ag and hardwoods of south east minnesota. Do you think ag crops and acorns are the key factor in why the deer don't get on my brassica sooner? I plant them every year on a rotation but never have the deer feed much in them during deer season.

Thanks! I have a 2 strip in my plot of your sweet feast brassicas along with fall forage blend and seclusion 360 with a few radishes in my woods kill plots. They all look great. The seclusion was hit hard by deer in sept ,early oct. The fall forage blend is being hit now and the brassicas will be hit in dec/jan. They all grew great and exceeded my expectations! The only thing that didn't grow was the HD screen so I'll try that again next year.

My Northwoods Whitetail plots look great in North central WI as of 11/22. Clover kill plots lush (in some pretty bad soil) Sweet feast is full of softball size bulbs(tasty I had some for dinner last night😀) Fall forage overseeded with rye and radish still lush(planted a little too early oats seeded out) Just too many Acorns and no snow!! Keep the sandy soil help coming! I’m also planting in a sandbox in northern MN and the info you have already provided has helped greatly! Any Tips on utilizing the volunteer rye seed in late summer early fall in your content would be interesting to me😄 Happy thanksgiving!

I am looking to screen my food plot from the road. What would you recommend? I am just outside Buffalo, NY. During deer season my road gets heavy pressure due to large amounts of state land in close proximity. I get deer movement across the road where there is a lot of apple trees on a neighbors property also.

Great video, thank you for the education! Funny you mentioned the leaves falling into the plots. All this past spring, summer, and fall, i diligently kept a 12' - 15' wide strip along the north and east woodedge of my 40 acres clear of weeds, debris, etc. with plans of frost-seeding switchgrass this winter for screening and border around foodplots. I was super excited because i had an awesome seedbed going. But then, I was heartbroken when I went out there a few weeks ago to find a 4" thick cover of leaves along the entire woodedge that would prevent any of the switchgrass seed from hitting the dirt. I actually took a day off of work and hand raked the leaves to expose the soil again. A lot of work, but hopefully will be worth it. After a year of growth, will the switch be robust enough to not be bothered by all of the leaves again next fall?
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663
@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 8 месяцев назад
If they can get about the leaves they should be eventually be fine
