Hello I have a study on estimating the volume of sediment in a lake What do you advise me to buy so that it can draw a bathymetric map for me (depth and coordinates) and transfer the data to other programs for processing. How much is the price, complete with transduser and GPS?

BUYER BEWARE: I own Simrad on one boat and Raymarine on the other. Simrad has very rudimentary waypoint management while Raymarine has outstanding waypoint management. Key features that Simrad is missing: 1) waypoint grouping 2) ability to turn on or off waypoint names for a group 3) different size waypoint icons (fish icons are tiny) 4) ability to bulk edit a group of waypoints 5) ability to filter waypoints by a string and then batch edit the filtered group The lack of these features makes the Simrad unusable for most fishermen and cruisers. I do not have a dog in this hunt other than making people aware of the shortcomings of Simrad.

@@s3tbuell I'm assuming you don't own both systems because until you do, you won't understand the huge differences. I currently own two boats, one with Simrad and one with Raymarine and as a daily boater I can't attest to the difference. I'm not a nube who just looks at RU-vid videos.

I fish in Great South Bay, here on Long Island, i just dont understand why or how i would need those features, my icons on my screen mark the edges of channels, my fishing areas offshore, where ive caught fish in the past..... I wouldnt have a clue as to why i would need to "group" them......

Is the physical size of the cruise 9 the same as the go9? Asking for flush mounting purposes.

Do you think a 9” screen is sufficient for a 25’ family/fishing boat?

Absolutely. It is probably the most common size display for a boat of that size and is large enough to work well as a split or combo screen with charting and sounder information (or any combo).

Two questions pls .......Would this 9 inch Go9 be good to see most every thing for a beginner. Im looking at a 2425 King Fisher boat and I want electronics enough so that I wont want to upgrade. I wont have radar and am wanting to use the In Hull Transducer from Kingfisher installed at the factory. Should I be using the transducer that comes with the Go9 ? thx.

The Go9 would be an excellent choice for your boat and a novice, and I don't think that you will feel a need to upgrade once you become more familiar with the boat or the electronics. I would recommend using the supplied transducer as it will give you many more options and features that an in hull transducer would be able to produce such as SideScan capability. If you do decide to only use the In hull transducer confirm that the connector and frequencies match the Go9. Congratulations and enjoy your new boat!

I have a GO5 on my 30' Cat, Electrician recommended it after my Raymarine died after a lightning strike. It's probably clever in it's technically capabilities I'm sure they make good stuff but this thing is just not right. I absolutely hate it, don't buy one. Touch screen is impossible to see in daylight, touch buttons are tiny, It tends to re boot like it has a mind of it's own, Takes me 10 mins to get BT to connect (for music) . It's so unbelievably complicated it actually dangerous. I'm 58, so no wizz kid so maybe it's me but, No, it's horrible. Definatley better off getting one with proper buttons. And bigger. And god help you if you accidentally dim the screen, you will need to wait for a dark night to get it back. I think they stopped making these so they too knew it was bad.
