A crochet tutorial video for my Mini Octopus Amigurumi Pattern ( mohumohu.com/mini-octopus-ami... ). The video will teach you all the basics, like how to make an adjustable ring, single crochet and half-double crochet stitches, decreases, and how to sew up your amigurumi and add a face.
This mini octopus is so quick and easy to make! It’s worked from the top down, with legs crocheted straight onto the body, so there’s almost no sewing. Finish off your octopus by sewing on the eyes and a little mouth. The whole project can take less than 30 minutes to make, and is great for using up leftover scraps of yarn.

Started one today on a 5 hour train ride and finished in the evening. Used a larger hook as i only had one on me (5mm) so it turned out larger but I love it ❤

How do you join at the end of each row? A ss and ch1 to begin the next stitch? I just can’t get my rounds to look round…. So frustrating

You don't join at the end of the round - just keep going in a spiral! (There is one part of the pattern where you join the round, but the video tells you specifically when to do it)

Hello! You don't need to do a slip stitch at the end of every round. There's one round that has a slip stitch at the end, but I show you where in the video :)

I’m getting a bit lost on round 10. I’ve tried the back loop invisible decrease like you show in the video but I’m not ending up with a ridge. I’m also curious if you do the back loop decrease differently. Doesn’t a typical back loop decrease go through the BLO of the second stitch, then through the BLO of the first stitch then yarn over and pull through? Help!

You can do a normal decrease through the back loops if it's confusing to do the invisible decrease. I've always done mine this way, but there are probably other ways to do a back loop decrease. If you still don't get the ridge, make sure you're working through the back loops, and that your octopus isn't inside out.

It should be inside, leaving a ridge on the outside. But if your amigurumi is inside-out it might be confusing

@@f1shyv1shy35 You might just need to practise getting your tension right! If your stitches are too loose or too tight, they won't look right, and it will be difficult to see what's going on. Hope that helps 🙂
