I've watched other crochet tutorials and honestly pretty much all of them makes me want to give all my hooks and yarn away, and then I come to your videos and I go in my happy place, your tutorials are simple and I enjoy that. Thank you
Bella, I have learned most of my crocheting stitches from your tutorials. You take your time, you talk and show on every stitch and explain yourself very well. Please keep on teaching with your tutorials I appreciate you and love your accent ❤❤❤😉
First time crocheting anything... and I've actually made a hat😁 to say its a wearable one is debatable but even so I've made it 😁 thanks for the great tutorials... you were recommended to me and I can see why! Really easy to follow (the pausing helps massively). Would love to upload/ send a pic of what I've made... im quite proud of myself to be honest! Now to make a pom pom for the top! 😁😁 thanks again, Claire x
You are very welcome and well done you should be proud, if you want to tag us on instagram with your photo @bellacococrochet or in comments at hashtag bellacococrochet we would love to see it :)
I tried and failed to make 2 other beanie patterns before finding your tutorial and success at last! :) Yours is so clear and easy, thank you so much xx
Your tutorials are the best! I am just a beginner, but I’m already selling my stuff and crocheting every day. Thank you so much for all the time you have invested into making these videos. Without them, I would be so lost!
i'm a beginner in crotchet, so far ive made a blanket with puff flowers doing a waffle stitch scarf and the beanie ,bella is so easy to follow ,thanks bella
I just finished my very first hat by this tutorial. The way you explain everything is so easy to follow, you go at a speed that I don't have to slow down to .25 just to follow, and I'm actually learning! I did this after doing your basic tutorial videos (up to hdc) and I am SO proud of myself! Thank you SO MUCH! been trying for almost two years, and YOU are the one that gave me the key to succeeding!
Tysm for this tutorial I spent hours trying to find an easy one and this is the best channel I have been through. I've made one so far on my second and might even make a third!!! Tysm
Excellent thanks so much for this tutorial . I can’t believe how easy you’ve made it. I haven’t crocheted since I knee high. Your fab as I love my beanie hat. I’m going to look for a video on crocheting flowers to sew on the side of it next. Thanks again for giving me the confidence to carry on🕉
Thank you very much for another fab tutorial Sarah Jayne! I started crochet six weeks ago with your help and have just made my first beanie hat which I was able to wear as it looks pretty good :) So proud of myself thanks to you ! Great recommendation with the yarn too!
Lovely clear tutorial in UK terminology which seems very rare on here so a HUGE Thank You ! 😍 Would love a few more for hats and possible one with matching scarf ? Again, Thanks so much xx
Great tutorial. Reminds me of making your pumpkins of which I made quite a few this year. Going to try a couple of these for Christmas pressies. Thanks.
I did mine in a lighter yarn and a tighter tension since we live in Northern Ontario so my toque is a bit different, but your video was so amazingly easy. Thank you do much
Thank you. I have some problems with keeping the same number of stitches in each row. Need a bit more practice but it still turned out reasonably okay for my first time. You explain everything so well.
I really like your tutorials. They are very easy to understand. Your projects are amazing and really inspiring for a beginner who needs constant boosts to go on and become an expert. To crochet is an amazing hobby and really productive if learnt to do it properly. Thankyou
i lovvvve your channel. You are the BEST really. i learnt almost all of what you did in your videos. I want to learn how to crochet a sweater, i searched but literally i couldnt find a good quality videos as yours. please please could you make a tutorial of making a sweater. thanks a lot xoxo
Arwa Ibrahim I love that idea too... or a loose baggy drapping style cardigan would be great for spring or summer too.. if anyone can Bella Coco can ! Xx
I'm a beginner...this is the second thing I've made. How do I count my stitches at the end of each row to make sure I'm on track? The first thing I made were your wrist warmers! thank you for such great videos!!
Thank you, I’m glad you find them helpful! 😊 You should insert your hook into the first stitch (directly underneath the two chain stitches) but only through the back loop, and not through both loops as you would normally.
You’ve been my inspiration to and my god send while learning how to crochet I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos they have really really helped me looking forward to seeing more of you thanks again
The 27 chains you stitched is the the breadth of the cap? Please tell as I assume it as the length and made 110 chain and made one line so should I make 27 chain and do my work
The foundation chain should be the length from your forehead to the top of your head so the amount will obviously vary from person to person. You can find the written instructions on my blog here: www.sarahjaynefragola.com/2016/01/crochet-beanie-hat.html 😊
As a new crochet-er can you tell me roughly how much yarn you used per beanie please? I really am unsure how many balls to order, so a rough guide would be handy.
I’ve enjoyed your clear tutorials in the past and want to get back into crochet so my next project will be to try this beanie :) Just wondering how many balls of the super chunky wool you need, and I couldn’t see this on the written pattern. Sorry if I’ve missed it!
I think I only used one ball of yarn but this would depend on the type of yarn you use, the hook size and your personal tension along with the size you make (I made a chain of 27) I hope this helps :)
Hello! Thank you for the tutorial. I'm curious for a fact, turning the work clockwise or counterclockwise will affect the finish look of the finished work? Thank you ; )
thanks for your tutorial, excellent teaching! i would love for you to do one on a sweater, im very interested in making one, with your help i know i'd be at ease at crocheting one. Thanks again
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. If I have size 4 yarn calling for a 5.5 crochet hook, but I only have a 6.5 mm available, how would that change the number of chains to start? Thank you for any advice :)
You're welcome! If you're using a bigger hook you should find you need to chain less, but as you measure the chain against your head (or the head of the person the beanie is for) as you go, this shouldn't be a problem 😊
You can just sew in the two ends in your usual way; I have a video tutorial showing how here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6qXEcQj_0L0.html 😊
Brilliant. I have always crocheted hats from the centre in rounds as I have difficulty keeping straight edges. Any tips other than counting, please. Thank you.
Catherine Crawford I've found stitch markers to be extremely helpful for keeping me on track. I use them to mark beginning/ending stitches of rows, and I mark every so many stitches in a row (every 10, for example, for this project; for blankets, every 25.) Pick a number that works for you, place your markers in those stitches along the row, and it makes counting & keeping track so much easier, and effective! I move them up from previous rows as I go; I'll leave one every so many rows if I need to count rows. I use plastic locking stitch markers; they look a bit like small padlocks. 🔓🔒 Most places (brick & mortar and online) that sell crochet & knitting supplies likely carry them.
Hi, can I just ask what size ball of yarn you use for this beanie? I'm interested in making one but will need to buy yarn specifically for it. I understand it may vary between people, but just an idea of what you used would be helpful! Thanks 😁
For the start of each row do I start working into the third stitch similar to row 1? The top of my work seems to be uneven i wonder is that the reason. I don’t think it’s a tension issue it might be I’m losing or increasing a stitch. Thank you!
love your tutorials. you made it so easy for a beginner like me to try these out! one quick question, if I want to increase the length, do I increase in any particular multiple, e.g. multiple of 3s? thanks.
I am new to crocheting and would like to know for an adult size beanie roughly how much yarn is needed in m's? I know it varies, but i have no idea how much to order to ensure it all comes from same die lot. A rough idea would be helpful for this newbie.
I'm sorry I'm not able to provide an exact amount in metres as it will depend on the measurements you're working to - however using the recommended yarn you should find that one ball is enough, although it's always best to have one extra just in case 😊
