That hooked rug is incredibly precious. It captures a moment in time. I used to make punched rugs in the 1970's with my family. Thanks for the memories!
Absolutely love your podcast and your style. I also knit mostly sweaters and cardigans and my favorite is kim hargreaves. I knit all the time and everywhere even if I have just 30min. Omg, I loved Nora. I had to listen a couple of times as I am an American and her accent was challenging. Worth it. I will definitely be knitting some of her designs. Which leads me to a challenge for you two lovely ladies, do not discriminate fabric designers because they cannot speak English. Technology gives us the ability to translate, right! I empathize with you, Andrea. I'm ripping out an entire stranded 3-color sweater -- several months of work -- because after I assembled it, the lack of give in the fabric prevented me from passing it over my head and shoulders. The measurements were okay, but the fabric had zero give! Like you, I feel it's so worth starting over to get something that will be beautiful and comfortable to wear. I love the pattern you're knitting. I remember seeing it when you interviewed Natasha and thinking it was one of the prettiest I've seen.
What an amazing episode! You can tell that Sue Maton is used to being with people, communicating and teaching. She is able to translate her thought processes to an audience with such ease! Her designs are beautiful.......I think I may have to add some of hers onto my to-do list. Noma was such a surprise to me. I always find it amazing how someone can incorporate their culture into their knitting.... all while producing an elegant resultant polished result. Her segment was awe inspiring with what we can achieve as knitters..... again I will definitely be checking out more of her designs! Thank you Andrea and Madeleine for a great video. Oh and can I just add that the chosen music certainly added to the mood of each segment. Loved the South African choir particularly!

Oh my gosh! What a wonderful episode, Madeline’s chess pieces are so darn cute, how precious. Andrea you amaze me with every garment you knit but I have to say, this one looks like the new favourite. The colour is fabulous, it’s yummy, a fave of mine. No a has some wonderful projects, I think I will have to try one of her pieces. Mandy just fascinated me with her play in colour, so free to experiment with colour, just mesmerizing.

What an absolutely amazing episode (and I’ve watched them all 😊) I did wonder how I’d enjoy the focus on crochet with Sue but her interview was superb - as an “almost retired” primary school teacher I work one day a week teaching Art and have done a lot of fun activities on the colour wheel and colour theory with children as young as 5 - which they handled so well - and to see this all applied to crochet (and indeed our knitting ) is a connection I hadn’t made before - so absolutely exciting!! Thank you so very much 😊

Wow! Thanks so much for featuring Noma and her wonderful designs. I've already purchased her Khanyisa cardigan. I've been searching for such a cardigan to use some very special alpaca yarn spun from my sister's small herd. I was also so impressed with Noma's other designs. I think her designs will appeal to a wide range of knitters.
Brilliant episode...so much to gain inspiration from.....loved every aspect of this....I was introduced to crochet when I was 10 years old for a school project and have crocheted and knitted ever since. Just started picking up my crochet again so a perfect time for me to find this episode.

Fantastic episode! Every segment as informative and intriguing as the next. The rug hooking was absolutely fabulous, to my eye, and not unlike what I see out my window at the moment - pale sky, bare dark branches, and yellow-tinged brown in the winter lawn here by a pond. Lots of appreciation from me to you for your extraordinary talents and expert guests.
While I understand what you say about the grass colors and the sky not really "going together" in the rug, there is something very vintage or "70's" about those colors together that is appealing. While it might not be the look you're going for, the sort of clashing of colors is a style in and of itself. So don't be too hard on yourself, Madeline!
I loved the interview with Sue! Her work reminds me of Sophie Digard and the Kaffe Fasset design group. Very timely as I am designing a marled tunisian crochet shawl inspired with your talk with Cecelia Campochiaro. Lovely episode!

this is the first time i watch one of your episodes in quite a while, and i enjoyed it very much. Personally i crochet much more than i knit, i liked that you added that in your scope:-> Andrea, I find it touching how you are going to incorporated your late husband into your hooked rug ( you don't know this but i am one of those who "walked" and prayed with you during that painful time)- i was wondering how you are doing. Seeing the "Knitters from around the World" title brought me back to a thought/question i used to have back when and that is: are you familiar with the shepherds up in the Andes( i think it's Peru) who kit these amazing double colored hats, with the parts that cover the ears with the lama designs and such. I saw a documentary of them decades ago and was so impacted by how they knit with 12 needles, standing along their herd- mostly men actually. Of course you might have mentioned them on one of your programs, sorry i haven't watched them all ! Also , is there a way i can get your snail mail address- there is something i would like to send you ( it's not yarn ;-> ). It was fun to be reminded how you love music and choose such beautiful piece for us to hear and thank you for mentioning what that African song was, i had been sitting here asking myself"what is it saying?"~ ( i have more to say and will stop here, :->) Blessings to you both !!

When working tapestries I was taught to work the foreground objects first and do the background objects last and I presume it would be the same for rugs too.

Wonderful episode! I have just discovered Sue Maton too and am doing her Gloria capelet class. I am really loving it and am considering doing her wall flower blanket class. My only hold back is I have so many unfinished projects right now I know I need to finish! But we will see how my self discipline holds out! LOL
