Even though the Atreyu Crochet channel is for beginners, I think it's necessary to build upon the basics. The great thing about crocheting is that even the most complicated of patterns can still be broken down to the very basics of crocheting.
Don't ever approach a crochet pattern with doubt. Simply break down the pattern and approach it one stitch at a time. If a stitch is foreign to you, then find a RU-vid tutorial on it, learn the stitch, and resume with the pattern. Although our starting point is that of a beginner, it is also true that that is not our destination.

Thank you for actually doing a beginner thing for beginners. I have crocheted for years but was trying to find something for a friend who is wanting to learn and all the beginner patterns that pop up first are WAY too complex to start with imo. Nailing the basics is important.

I just finished this beautiful scarf and the matching hat and even though your patterns or for beginners the finished product makes you feel like you are not a beginner, but a skilled professional, and what I like about you is that you know how to make everything so easy to follow. Best pattern and I mixed it up with different stitches! One suggestion: use stitch markers at the end of each row so you know where the first stitch is when you turn your work!

Thank you for this great tutorial. Love the blue! Instead of switching, wondering if it's possible to crochet two different colours, but use as a single strand? Probably go up a hook size as well?

You're most welcome! And yes, your idea of 2 colors, 1 strand is definitely a viable option. As such, I would probably increase the hook size by a little to accommodate the extra girth. If you go that route, let me know how it turns out!
