Hello I am excited to post this tutorial of my Coral On The Reef Shawl. It is an intermediate to advanced shawl as I use the front and back post stitch and shell stitch to make this shawl. I will also be doing a written pattern for this crochet shawl on our blog within the coming days.

I am making a prayer shawl for one of local hospitals and their specs for the size of the shawl have to be 20" wide and 60" long - well the length would be no problem but am not very good at figuring the number of beginning chains I'd have to make - you'd chained 63 + 3 which gave you enough for 10 shells, etc = 14". If you can give me a quick answer I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I can run the tutorial slow and count how many chains are used for 6 shells + ending DC. thank you

I took me on and off about 3 days to crochet this shawl. I am a fast crocheter but I didn't spend all day on it, each day. I guess it will also depend on how long you spend on it each day and how fast you crochet 🙂
