The only thing that I didn't like about Steve was that he never publicly recognized the other side of conservation. Saving habitat, protecting threatned and endangered species is only one side of the coin. Hunting, and ethical hunters, also plays a large role in conservation when properly exercised.
I feel like he personally understood the benefits of regulated hunting, but he wanted to give people less reasons to kill otherwise scary animals or any animal. But I'm glad hunting has gained very good educational exposure recently.
Maybe you hunters need to be more vigilant on poaching and illegal hunting practices and try harder at stopping that instead of going on about the good of killing
Actually in one episode he mentioned a form of ethical hunting. He didn't have any bait for a croc trap and so he and suey(his dog) hunted an invasive species of wild pig
