You explained so well!! I had my wisdom tooth out last month cause this is my 2nd time with braces and I already had one tooth extracted from my right side last time for correcting overjet, so this time we had to remove my wisdom tooth on the right so that we can push the teeth backwards and create space for front teeth to go back. Also, on the left side we have one tooth to remove :( I hope this works n doesn't take too much time! My ortho said we might also do IPR later!
I’ve had teeth extracted. 4 teach to be exact. Two up and two down. . Started watching your videos when I was about to get the braces and you answered a lot of questions I didn’t know I had to ask. Thank you!😊
@@lesliegrajeda3492 It wasn’t too bad. I had +-2 months to get them extracted and heal. So I removed 1 tooth every 2nd week. But it was quite uncomfortable having missing teeth in the mouth 😂
Hey, I had the exact same but I had 2 out last week and 2 out yesterday and honestly it’s not as bad as you think it would be! Just make sure to be honest when they test if your mouth is numb ❤️
My parents didn’t have money either and it didn’t seem that they cared about my dental health anyway cause they never took me to the dentist despite my intense sweet tooth that I always found someway to satisfy (I know bad) 😁. I had to wait til I was 24 to get them, which is when I had a job that paid me enough cash to pay for them each month. So no crooked teeth forever, you can get them when you can pay on your own.
@@soundreign2319 Yea but the bad part about it is that some of my teeth are separating and I have horrible pain in my gums. Plus I have an excessive overjet and crooket bottom teeth💀
@Kyndall Anderson I can completely relate to you! I also have an excessive overjet (which is really annoying), and the dentist has been telling me for years that I should get braces, but my parents don’t have enough money. 😫
dental insurance? i dont have insurance so mines is 10k my wisdom extract was 1.3k with smile dental plan and my expanded was 2k no insurance. well im paying on my own im 17 and i have a job amd my monthly payments are $166
Hello maybe this is a bit late but basically for me one of my top front teeth crossed over the other teeth. They extracted 2 premolars on my top teeth and used springs to make space for the problematic front tooth. Then they used just normal braces wires to bring my teeth back to it’s place .
@@offical_shrek3485 i got my braces off on October 2021 and it think it was less than 2 years in total (would have been less if corona didn’t delay my appointments) but my bottom teeth weren’t that bad. They are fine right now but i wish they didn’t extract my teeth because it looks and feels weird ( like my teeth don’t fit together) . I don’t care too much because it was for free but if i paid for it i would have expected a better result
I have impacted wisdom teeth on my bottom jaw. My dentist says I don’t need to have them removed because they’re not causing me any problems, also it would be tricky to take them out because they’re sitting on a nerve in my jaw. I’m getting braces soon to fix my overcrowding and was wondering if that would cause issues with those wisdom teeth?
I got my braces this week, and basically watched all your videos in the last few days. I appreciate your channel so much! ! Everything is well explained and i feel like i can finish my own treatment now haha! If you accept an advice from me, you should put more animations about the tools and methods when you are talking about them because many times i had to stop The video to see in google and understand more visually. And you are using the same 3-4 stock videos maybe it would be good to get more according to the subject of the videos
I started my braces journey almost two years ago at 60 years old. So far I’ve had a combination of proclination of my upper teeth and IPR on a number of my lower teeth. One additional strategy currently being applied, which you didn’t mention in the video, is the use of torque to incline the top of my lower teeth lingually, so that the upper teeth don’t need as much proclination to give me a proper bite.
I had my canines extracted. Which I kind of hated because I think canines make your smile so pretty and give a smile character. But, I’m in my 30s, and I was already missing a molar on both sides on the top...so my ortho was afraid to have too much mvmnt and in the long run it would cause more harm than good. Love ur vids!! Super helpful. My 13 year old niece has braces but never listens to what her orthodontist tells her...I try to tell her to watch your videos so she can understand why he’s telling her to do these things; they’ve helped me a ton!
I'm not even being dramatic. Those top teeth in the thumb nail looked almost exactly like mine when I was a kid. O_o I have had teeth removed, and braces since then..
Thank you so much for all your clips I have braces and these clips have helped me understand things so much more. And it makes me think of questions to ask during my appointments. You rock🌟!
Yea, it will that's why I declined. If there is decrease in space there will be less space for your tongue which is the front wall of your airway. Also, your upper jaw forms your whole mid-face so pulling it back won't look attractive. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8JAsnTshxH0.html . You should research about mewing as expansion especially if you're still growing.
I just had braces 2 days ago, with 1 teeth extracted, spacers and the twisted wire if that make sense? I want to thank you for all the vids it is super helpful!
I'm getting braces on wednesday. I'm only getting them on the top tho cause my bottom teeth are straight. I'm 13 and I'm pretty excited cause I've been waiting for a long time. I've had 2 extractions 1 of my pre molars and one an extra tooth that grew behind my teeth. Idk what colour to choose tho. Anyone got ideas? 😹
Im 12 and i get braces on Thursday! Im getting them on my top and bottom. Im for sure getting some shade of blue. I think you could probably get a light shade of pink or a light shade of blue!☺️
U had the same case as me, an extra tooth grew behind my bottom teeth and i had extractions as well but i had both top and bottom braces now i have retainers :)
I know I'll get IPR and expansion at some point in my treatment, but I don't know when that may be. My consultation gave me an estimated total time, but I didn't ask for a more specific timeline of what was likely to occur when.
I am 14 and I just got 8 teeth removed while having an expander in. 4 were wisdom teeth that were turning my molars sideways and the other 4 were my first premolars. Let's just say, one and done surgery, very crowded mouth
ok so i got my teeth pulled out recently and when i tell you it aches, trust me it does...to some degree. So fist they give you numbing cream maybe on the lips or where they will inject numbing substance in that area. its like really uncomfortable but bearable when they inject it into your roof, it will hurt a bit. After, half of your face will feel dead and you cannot eat afterwards so EAT UP BEFORE YOUR APPT! When they actually pull it out, there will be some pressure and you might hear a ripping sound. My teeth looked like a normal tooth...with legs, one of my tooth looked like a sharks tooth(wth). Anyways when they give you a gauze to bite on, make sure to bite down hard but not too hard as your surrounding teeth will have to take that pressure and thats where it aches. After some time you might ( keyword might) have some slight pain from where they injected that numbing substance, it will be fine just get an ice pack and put it around that area. ALSO you might drool all over that place so the moment you step out of that clinic, don't look down otherwise you might drool all over you clothes :) take some tissues to cover your mouth otherwise you might look traumatised and to stop all that bluudy drool from coming out of your mouth.
thanks dr greg for all these informations! im a dental student and im currently wearing braces and i wanted to ask you how does my orthodontist choose the arch form that is best for me?
I lost my 2 front teeth and 2 back teeth and would i eligible to have implemented teeth or not.Or what type of treatment i can go through to this missing teeth.
I have overcrowded but like not sefere and she told me she's going to extract my teeth without even considering to expand them. Now im here trying to send this video but she doesnt speak english. I feel like my dentist doesnt really understand how to deal with overcrowded teeth aside from extracting it if its only mild overcrowded. PS : how do I define mild overcrowded = my lower jaw teeth [front teeth] are align but 4 of them are a little bit [maybe 0.00001 cm] on top of each other.
That was a lecture not a video admirable as it was in content and charmingly as it was presented. Can there not be a greater balance between lecture and demonstration, given that not only aspiring dentists are curious about the subject? Just asking.
@@ebk3869 I went to the orthodontist and turns out I don’t have a narrow jaw, but some of my teeth are too small compared to the ones on the bottom. So I can either put veneers on those teeth to make them bigger, or I can get one tooth removed on the bottom. I go back to my ortho on Wednesday and I’m gonna discuss what I’m gonna do
My top teeths are overcrowded . It have been 3 month since I got my braces , as my teeth have started to align in same line I feel uncomfortable closing my mouth . It makes my mouth look big and out protruding , will this get better after teeth extraction . ?
Just published a video on the broader issue of facial/jaw underdevelopment, the root cause of most cases of crooked teeth, for anyone who's interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8KYBtRJAubQ.html
I got the notification so late😭 but I have spacers right now (Saturday) and get braces next week on Thursday, my lower jaw is too small and i have bad crowding there, so the spacers makes my crowded eded teeth feel squeezed and it huts sooo bad😭😭 and the lady that put the spacers in said my teeth were super tight together so my jaw was going to hurt for sure. And i didnt get an expander tho (im 12) and i feel like i should have got one because my jaw is visible too small for my face. The spacers have made one of my molars tilt forward because i dont have enough space for the space and the rest of my teeth.😭 How are they going to straighten my teeth if my jaw is too small ?
Can you do a separate video on proclining teeth? I'd never heard this term before this video and am wondering if that is what has been done if you have flared teeth after braces? Can proclining be done on both the top and/or bottom arch?
For by grace you have been saved throught faith and this is not your own doing it is the gift of God so that no one may boast ephesians 2 verse 8-9 🥰 ...
It’s been yrs since I’ve had braces! The reason why I needed them was because I just had crooked teeth! I got mine on when I was 12 almost 13 yrs old got them off when I was 14 almost 15! I had mine on for about 15-18 months maybe 2 yrs! If I had to unexpectedly do them again I have to go somewhere else cause my orthodontist who did mine passed away April of 2022! I remember my first colors blue and red! I believe the color of my first power chain was yellow!
Hi. My posture of my face is got changed once I put up the braces. And my mouth almost looks like monkey's... What's the cause? Problem was: overcrowded Treatment : braces (still on)... 2nd month
Is it okay to have my teeth not touch correctly for the majority of my treatment? None of my teeth are touching in grooves. It's more like peak to peak
am 18 and yet still haven't put braces for my lower teeth... it's because its too expensive and money is prioritized to other things like for tuition fee, etc etc...T^T....... I am kinda anxious because like I said I'm 18 and I wonder if it is still okay to put braces in the 20s...? I plan to fix my teeth when I could already afford it (with mah moneyy) but im worried if it is still effective in correcting my teeth at that time of age.... (since my teeth is not that young anymore)
Or you can try jaw exercises to help push out your teeth a bit more to make room you can look at a couple videos I posted if you want to try..it's not a guarentee though..God bless🙏💖
Hi doc i have a question, i just got braces 1 week a go and i accidentally bite into ice and my back bracket in the molar fell off entirely but it doesn't bother me at all and my next appointment is 3 weeks a way, is my braces still work properly with missing bracket? thanks.
I tried to go in and get qualified for braces but i was like a couple points off like 1 or 2 and i dont get it cause my teeth are very crooked , does anyone know what points are or like a way to qualify?🙏🏽
Ur channel is so informative as I about to start my braces journey. Love learning & understanding of what am about to embark upon this new normal of mines.
Hi, is it normal for my top and bottom teeth to not be fully aligned in the back? In the back on one side I can see a gap in between where the teeth don’t perfectly fit together. Is that bad?
i had power chains on my 4 front teeth there wasnt gap between them , in my next oppointment he put ligature ties im so confused right now cus there is no gap between my 4 teeth but on the teeth after them (sry i dont know the name) why didnt he put powerchains on all the teeth so i can take my braces off quicker?. i have an over bite and its common to have gap between 4 front teeth and other teeth thats what exactly what happend , thanks^^^.
Probably, the archwire is not strong enough yet for full powerchain. be patient, too soon using the powerchain on the back teeth can cause the molars to tilt
@@imblackqueensimok.4274 archwire is the wire where the braces slide (the horizontal one, connecting from side to side). In the early stages, the wire is flexible allowing the teeth to move easily, but lack of control. Later stage the wire used is stiff, giving control to the orthodontist. Later stages (including the gap closing stage) the wire is stiff, providing control to the orthodontist so that there are no unwanted tooth movements. Tilted molars can occur due to the lack of control. Causing the patient to have difficulty chewing, and other problems.
Hi, I have recently discovered your channel couple months ago but I recent gotten braces within a month ago. My question for you is what is the process for an a impacted tooth with braces, my tooth is impacted within upper lip by my nose no It doesn’t cause any pain. But I do want to know the process for the impacted tooth, as far I know is I need them for two years
Hey can you give me an explanation on something? I have an overjet and my orthodontist put class 2 elastics on the right side of my mouth and class 1 on the left side. Any reason why they’re different? Thank you
