Thank you so much! This helped me beyond just maintenance! I had a problem and this video more or less helped me save a return back to Amazon. Thanks Bud.
Thanks! That is the exact video I needed to see! I will be transporting my R1 under the seat of a 400cc scooter over 1,100 miles here in a few weeks, and knew there had to be a way to make it shorter so it would fit under the seat. :-) Taking those 2 pins "out" and separating the 2 halves will do just fine. I will be placing medical Coban wrap around each of the 2 halves to keep the parts from falling out, then wrapping all that up in a towel to keep things from getting overly scarred up.
@@tjlastname5192 next christmas you should get your dad a Gamo Swarm Whisper, 1,000 fps break barrel rifle, he can kill squirrels with any pumping, or C02, just cock the barrel once and shoot a nice big .22 pellet, easily hunt Squirrels and Rabbits. Its about the same price as the DPMS too.
@@jessearruda7979 he’s already got my Umerx origin. He was going to use it to get squirrels during deer season, but I don’t think he’s that interested in squirrel hunting.
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I really enjoy your videos. No fluff or nonsense...just straight to the point of what's important! I seen a video where you talked about your first airgun purchase in 1985. Needless to say, that's a long time ago!! How large of a collection do you have?? How many guns?? Ever consider doing a video showing off your collection??
Thank you for watching my videos! I have an engineering background, which probably contributes to my no-nonsense technical approach to my videos. I was in high-school in the early 80s, to me it seems like just yesterday. I have probably 30 or 40 airguns, all purchased with my own money, and will take making a collection video into consideration.
So I bought my thing at big five for some reason the lever was extremely loose so I open up and I released that metal thing in the stock I don’t have that
I usually clean the rifle as well bc it does get pretty dirty from either paint rub off from the bolt cycling and the buffer tube assembly gets really really grimy over use. I usually lubricate slightly after cleaning up grime just to make the moving parts move more freely. Don't use actual firearms lubricant. Use this lube or pel gun oil. Don't use alot a little bit goes pretty far. I usually lubricate all rubber peaces and where there is any metal on metal or plastic on plastic. Makes the gun run smoothly and it also can increase the cycle rate of fire I've found.
I would wait until you have shot 3000 BBs. I do recommend putting a drop of Pell Gun oil on the tip of each CO2 cartridge, before install. The Pell Gun oil, along with the oil contained in each CO2 cartridge, will keep its internal valve and seals lubricated.
Visualize that gun with an attachment allowing a scuba tank air hookup for a large air supply, plus an attachment that allows a 6000 count bottle of Copperhead BBs to be hooked up directly to the gun for a continuous ammo supply!
They have a bulk fill adapter for the Umarex Full Auto Air Guns. www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Air_Venturi_Steel_Storm_CO2_Bulk_Fill_Adapter/3442 It allows you to connect a CO2 paintball tank in place of the 12 Gram CO2 cartridges. I'm surprised they have not come out with the same for the Crosman SBR.
@@rustbeltairgun8718 Unless Crosman thinks they can't get around some sort of patent infringement issue, or some other legal liability they do not want to risk, I bet they come up with something!
Here is a link to the parts list: support.crosman.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013315111-DPMS-SBR-Owner-s-Manual If you can identify the part from the parts list, you make be able to order directly from Crosman.
I recently got mine and it was starting to not feel normal. I started noticing the accuracy was a bit off and the power wasnt really there. It was also still shooting air, even when the mag would run out. I used pel gun oil and did everything in this video and I instantly felt a difference when i took the first shot. The accuracy was there. The power. And it only shot air when nothing was in the mag once. Great video 👍 And if anyone knows how to fix the issue where it keeps shooting air even when nothing is in the mag please let me know.
Internal cleaning of this air rifle is not necessary. CO2 powered air guns that shoot BBs are very clean. There are, however, recommended lubrication intervals, based on the number of shots fired. This information is included in the manual.
My grandsons charging handle only go back a very short distance and then will not go all the way to the rear. Also it seems caught on something in the rear of the upper and lower and not come apart. Thoughts, ideas. HELP! THANKS!
Thanks for this video. Would you believe the instructions don’t show which direction that rear end of the DCG (for lack of a better word) should be facing. I pulled it a part to look, and the part fell out before I could see how it was installed.
The manual just refers to it as the "Bolt". See "Maintaining Your Airgun" section. Here is the link to the manual: support.crosman.com/hc/article_attachments/360009098871/DSBR-515.pdf
Is pellgun oil fine to use on this? I can’t seem to find the crosman chamber oil anywhere, it seems to be out of stock, is pellgun oil safe to use on this and will it harm the BB gun? Thank you.
If you have reached the 3000 shot maintenance cycle, I recommend using the Crosman specified RMCOIL lube. My understanding of Pellgun oil is it is intended to lubricate the inner workings of a CO2 Powered Air Gun. That is why Crosman specifies to put a drop on the tip of each CO2 Cartridge, before insertion into the air gun.
You don't HAVE to use that special oil. Just use the regular Crosman Pellgun Oil, it won't hurt anything. The green plunger inside of the DPMS is made of the same material as the CO2 seals, which require pell gun oil. So you're good to go with the pell gun oil. I don't know why they say to use that other stuff, it's not necessary. Just don't use firearm gun oil, or 3 in 1 oil. You may also use a silicone lubricant if you want, that's safe too. Also I wouldn't wait until 3000 shots to take it apart and lube it. I've noticed the internal plunger being dry after about 20 mags or 500 shots. So I lube mine about ever 500 shots. Wipe down the parts, and reapply the oil.
i have a issue where my charging handle is loose and it don’t chamber my bullet when a pull it back.. do you have any explanation for why this is happening?
If the issue occurred after following my SBR Teardown and Maintenance video, I recommend consulting the manual to make sure the bolt is properly aligned. Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Hello can u plz tell me if u are able to get the mag springs because my mag spring is really week witch the bbs won’t go up to load the next bb so I have to stop and move the spring up off my mag
Crosman RMCOIL Lube should be used on o-rings in this air rifle. Pellgun oil should only be used on the tips of the CO2 cartridges. I recommend using only Crosman's lubricants, especially if this air rifle is still under warranty.
for 2020.. fresh from the box ensure speedloader screws tight.. might aswell put a drop or two pelleoil in the speedloader with BBs.. shake shake shake.. the mag can have problems see the dpms sbr mag fix. Might just do mag fix oob or after a round or two.. do the mag seal with pelle.. then gun internal seals with the rmcoil.. I'm doing that under "warranty" atleast I would think..
question, my sbr works great but yesterday i tried to install 2 new co2 bottles in the magazine, but when i went to tighten then as a have done several times before the gas just came out and did not hold a charge i cleaned the magazine with a clean rag and tried again and still the same thing happened . i didnt drop it and im the only one who has access or even uses the gun what could be the issue? and is there an adjustment on the magazine itself? i feel like the pins that go into the co2 are too far back and not seating properly. what are your thoughts ? thank you
You can warp the piercing gaskets in the magazine, if you leave the CO2 cartridges in, for more than 24 hours. The warped piercing gaskets will leak CO2, when new cartridges are installed. Store the magazine in a warm (room temperature) room for a day, without CO2 cartridges installed. See if the piercing gaskets return back to their normal shape.
You can call Crosman support (1 (800) 724-7486) to see if they will sell you new gaskets. Most likely, you will need to replace the magazine: amzn.to/3DXBhVV
Sorry, I did not have this problem with my SBR. Crosman Customer Service has always been super helpful when I had issues. I recommend calling: 1 (800) 724-7486
I take immaculate care of mine, I use it as a training aid to save me time and money. I've noticed that the seals get dry much sooner than 3,000 rounds. I tend to wipe everything down and lube all the seals and contact points every 2 mags (or roughly 300 shots). I had my piston seal rupture last month, got a new "action assembly" (BCG) from Crosman. Installed it December 22nd. Proceeded to use it as ordinary--never on full auto, never more than 6 shots at a time, nothing that would stress it out. Every 200-300 shots I wiped it all down, oiled it all up and continued. I got to 2,073 shots today and had my piston seal rupture again. Any idea what may be causing this? I don't use it as a toy, I use it as a training aid so it does not get over-used or abused at all--it gets treated better than my real guns. I use Crosman oil and CO2.
@renegadebroadcastingrenega610 Mine too, the trigger is just fine and keeps getting smoother with more use. There is nothing wrong with it, just a little heavy but no big deal, this is not a precision target rifle that needs a 1 pound trigger pull.
Sorry, I can't answer this question. I don't recommend cutting off the stock. Crosman does offer a more compact SBR that fits in a common backpack: amzn.to/3uCH7bt
@@rustbeltairgun8718 Awesome, thanks man. So all the screws inside the Angular Foregrip, or just the one that looks like a Hexkey in the middle section of the Foregrip? And, what Hexkey measurement, my friend, if you happen to know that, please & thank you? Again, your the man, & its wicked appreciated my friend, I'll continue to support the channel, good stuff.... 🔥💯👍🙏
Small Philips self-taping screws hold the angular Foregrip in place. Don't over tighten the screws when reinstalling, otherwise, you could strip out the holes.
@@rustbeltairgun8718 oh cool, wicked appreciate you my friend, Thanx a bunch. Yea, im waiting on my mock silencer, from EVIKE. Com, & also a vertical foregrip, as well, super psyched... Lol.. bahahahaha... Thank you for reaching out, very nice of you!! 🔥💯👍🙏
In my opinion, yes, as long as it was remanufactured by Crosman and not some third party. Remanufactured air guns from the manufacturer typically have to pass more rigorous tests than brand new.
Mine seems to have jammed the hammer in to the buffer tube and I cant for the life of me figure out how to disassemble or remove. Any ideas before I try to send it back?
@@rustbeltairgun8718 Thank you so much for responding. It was only my 4th magazine after it arriving Wednesday, I fired 3 shots in single, flipped it to auto, 3 more shots came out and it stopped. I took the mag out and tried to clear the jam but I couldn't find it. Pulled the charging handle and it just went limp, I thought I broke something off of it. After watching yours and several other videos I realized I couldn't see the hammer. I looked down the stock and there it was, shoved way in the back. Weirdest thing.
@@rustbeltairgun8718 After further research it seems that pellgunoil has a detergent additive which may lead to premature seal damage. From now on I will only be using silicone chamber oil.
I add just a dab of non petroleum based gun grease to the side rails where bolt slides back and forth. I guess Crosman was correct when they say low maintenance required.
Just got my crosman A4-p today. Loaded everything up. Fired it about 5 shots Worked great. I opened the receiver just to see how it worked then put the pin back in place with no issues. Tried gun again and it didn't work. I took the CO2 cartridge out and it was obviously still very full. Then I put in a new one and it still didn't work. Do you have any idea what might be wrong? Ugh
Sorry, I did not have this issue after my tear down and reassembly. I would double check assembly per the manual. In addition, make sure the magazine is properly seated.
I was unable to duplicate your issue with either of my Crosman DPMS SBR Air Rifles. Why don't you remove the Upper Receiver to see if you can determine what is jamming it?
I am not sure if the lower on the Crosman SBR is of proprietary design, or is compatible with a AR15 firearm upper. You would also need a barrel swap, the 5.56 NATO for the .177 BB.
@@rustbeltairgun8718 i do love the video. Very informative. I have this gun haven't taken apart yet .only shot a few times .i didn't like at first .i do now had to get use to it .
