One time my mom ate a bite of pizza at a restaurant and I turned and watched her give my daughter a kiss on the face and my mom had flour ALL around her mouth. The reaction was almost instantaneous and we’ve all learned our lesson!

BEEN ON A CARNIVORE MEAT/EGGS DIET FOR 3 WEEKS AND HAD A STEAK AND 5 GRILLED SHRIMP. THE FAV RESTAURANT IS FAMOUS FOR THEIR GLUTEN ROLLS AND ALL THE REST OF THE DINERS HAD THEM. THEY WERE SITTING IN A BASKET RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME BUT I DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH THEM OR THE BASKIET. A COUPLE HOURS LATER I HAD A REACTION AND STILL ILL TODAY. WHAT HAPPENED!!!!???

Just a quick heads up that plastic does in fact ABSORB gluten and release it into food later (think of how the tupperwares get stains that you cant wash out no matter what. Same thing, but gluten). Learned that one the hard way.

Interesting! Most coeliac websites suggest using plastic instead of wood!

@@howtocoeliac ONLY if you're the only one using it. If not, get metal or ceramic (or glass in the case of containers). I got SO sick from using tupperware from my parents house.

I went to a shared lunch and they had a tub of gluten free cookies. Turns out someone had dumped some gluten cookies into the container too. Not really cross contamination as I ate an entire gluten cookie (it was so delicious, I knew it was too good to be true 😅).

Me: Hey i am a coeliac and have to have a complete GF lifestyle with no gluten at all, does your X Y Z contain gluten? The resaurant: Nope, we only have gluten in A B C and are not prepared near our X Y Z Me: Great, i'll have Y Them: Great *brings it out* Me: eats it, feels unwell them: Only a little bit of gluten, you can handle that. Yeah you guessed it, people who lie or don't know enough to ask

How perfect are you???? I loved the video!!!!!!!!!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼 Do you have an infographic or quick guide pdf on those tips? That’d be awesome to have that handy everytime we go to a friend’s house! The most frustrating way I got cross contaminated was once I was in a barbecue and I explained the cook my condition, he cooked my meat before everyone elses, separated foil and so on, but when I put the meat in my mouth I asked “what did you use to season?” And he said “basically salt… and I added some beer to it as well so it can taste better. Oh don’t worry, it burned in the fire” hahahhhahahhahaha Luckily at that moment I hadn’t swallowed yet so it could’ve been worse…

I will make the script into a blog post!! Will make sure to add it to the description here and will pop it on insta x Secondly.... BEER??????!!!!

@@howtocoeliac YES! Crazy right? Who in this world would think of throwing some beer at the meat to have a special taste… really that was a first for me, and last hopefully haha

I’m moving to London soon & I have celiac. I want lower rent costs by living with other people but I’m super worried about the kitchen situation with gluten-eating people. Any recommendations? Do you really just buy your own kitchen utensil set and hide it in your room??
@howtocoeliac
@howtocoeliac 3 года назад
Haha yeah, that's literally what I did. Unless you are living with super understanding people, it's better to have your own stuff. Can't tell you how many spiffs I've had about crumbs though lol

The fact that they aren't feeding you properly is neglect, which is abuse. Tell a counselor at your school or a trusted adult to help. If an authority figure tells them they need to take care of you properly, they most likely will.

I was recently diagnosed with coeliac disease (like last week) and have a few questions... Is their a scale of tolerance for each person when it comes to cross contamination? And also, my symptoms haven't cleared or improved, so I don't know if I've been glutened or not. Do you have a clear reaction or symptoms when you've eaten gluten? And will most people react the same?
@jablovesducks
@jablovesducks 3 года назад
Hi there! Everyone reacts differently to ingesting gluten so I’m afraid there is no easy answer here. Common side effects are vomiting, bowel problems, tiredness and migraines). It can also take a while for symptoms to clear up after starting a gluten free diet after being diagnosed, sometimes up to year. So keep going and hopefully you’ll feel better soon!
@kuroi8002

Your tolerance will go down as you heal, just avoid it like the plague as best as you can. I used to be able to manage the day now im down for the count immediately. You will feel more energized and much better in general as you heal tho, and theres a serious risk of cancer if you keep eating gluten even if just a little, so its worth it to go gluten free.

Hi. I was diagnosed last December and recently had my year review. My antibodies are still raised even though I feel symptom free. I assumed if I was still eating gluten I would feel symptoms like I did before. This was a wake up call that even if you feel ok you could still be getting glutened so it’s important to always be vigilant.
